06/20: Guapos jump to IWRG, Pantera loses his hair

CMLL

IWRG (THU) 06/19 Arena Naucalpan [superluchas]
1) Rockero del Diablo b Eragon
2) Trauma I & Trauma II b Bugambilia & Miss Gavitoa
3) Capitán Muerte, Karloff Lagarde Jr., Xibalva b Chico Che, Freelance, Zatura
4) Centauro, el Hijo Del Anibal, Rayman DQ Máscara Año 2000, Ricky Cruzz, Universo 2000
5) El Dandy b Pantera [hair]

Big news from the show was that semifinal DQ – Scorpio Jr. and Guapito running in to attack the tecnicos. Decnnis posed with the back stage, so add him to the list of jumpers. The group (including Zumbido) will now be called Los Guapos Inc. AAA apparently owns “Guapos VIP”, though Scorpio says only he and Shocker have the right to start Guapos group.

Pantera took the first fall of the main event, but Dandy took the second and appeared to use a foreign object to take the third.

– the stamps honoring Santo and el Hijo del Santo came out this week. In Universal, Hijo del Santo says he figured all six stamps would be of his father, and was surprised to find out they wanted to do half of them with him. The six stamps go on sale today for 150 pesos ($15.60 US) – though it seems like I get different prices in different articles. There’s also a Santo exhibition at the main post office. This story got picked up everywhere

Hector Garza is feuding with Tigre Hispano. Who knew? Not me. Tiger Hispano has now had more feuds than Olimpico has had in the last three years.

The Casas Brothers also want a shot at Hector Garza’s CMLL Trios titles. Guerreros and Perros have already made challenge. When asked which Perro he’d like to face in a hair match, Negro Casas picks Damian 666. Well, that’s sensible if not tough.

– What can you get out of Silver King’s intro with AAA? He’s definitely going back to wearing a mask. I wonder how Santo feels about that.

hype for tonight’s Tijuana show. Main is Demon/Rayo vs Cien Jr./Park. The article talk about LA park having face such people as Goldberg and Hulk Hogan – I don’t remember that Hogan match.

– El Sol de Zacatecas has a bio of young local wrestler El Cabo de la Muerte.

– Record #2 has Dr. Wagner Jr. on the cover.

Tonight’s card:

CMLL (FRI) 06/20 Arena Mexico
1) Arkangel de la Muerte & Hooligan vs Astro Boy & Starman
2) Máscara Púrpura, Máximo, Metalik vs Diamante Negro, Dr. X, Vangelis
3) Felino, Grey Shadow, La Sombra vs Ephesto, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
4) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Místico vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Heavy Metal, Negro Casas vs Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mr. Águila

Main event is hyped as Wagner helping the Casas brothers get revenge. Semimain has the last two teams the new champs beat to win the CMLL Trios titles. Tercera is Sangre/Shadow, perhaps.

  1. Hi. IWRG is more big than ever with Fuerza Guerrera and Los Guapos. Naucalpan legendary ring is the home of Scorpio Jr., since the 90’s, and now, with his powerful faction (including the sorpresive Decniss appareance), maybe changes the future of IWRG.

Because his good booking and good matches, without AAA and CMLL money, the Moreno family promotion is considered the true lucha libre promotion since many years ago. Right now, with Los Guapos into the roster, the future of Revolution Group looks wonderful.

  2. Except their TV can barely be seen anywhere. They need to fix that if they want to get anywhere because you can’t compete with no TV these days. And they aren’t exactly drawing huge crowds to any shows.

Isn’t it also weird that a week ago Los Guapos were considered to be awful and a joke because they worked in AAA and now suddenly, without even having wrestled a single match outside of AAA, they are considered to be huge talents? Such a biAAAs.

  3. IWRG bombed big time on KWHY-22 Los Angeles. I don’t think it’s a watchable show, and neither does the Mexican public.

Why did IWRG fail on 22 in LA?

    I think it’s the following:

Two hour show is too long. Too much wrestling on tv, and fans don’t want to sit through so many prelims to see the stars. A one-hour show would’ve done a little better.

  4. We can argue a lot about AAA doing dozens of post… but what’s going on with CMLL? Results in SL had only one match over 12 minute (by a few seconds) so I’m guessing the crowd was not good and they went into total nonsense with Negro Casas and Heavy Metal joining Mr Niebla beating Wagner…

So Galeno del Mal’s push will end being Casas’ hair? Big deal…

  5. One-hour show should be:

    – All falls in the main event
    – Final fall from tercera and semi

This allow you to see more people, as the scenery is constantly changing. Put Piper’s Pit at the :35 minute mark, and I’m back in heaven(which was 1985).

Seriously though, I really think this could work.

  6. Ok. But CMLL should do the all falls from the main, and final fall from two other matches for the one-hour shows.
