A Zumbido scheduled match for July. I don’t think it means anything, they were still advertising Abismo Negro last week.

Ovaciones writes about Satanico hitting his 35th year as an active wrestler today. He debuted on June 17, 1973, in Guadalajara. In the recent SuperLuchas interview, Satanico said he plans on wrestling until no one wants to book him.

TripleA’s site has picture of Joaquin Roldan in the hospital, where he’ll be for a week to recover from the cane shot to the nose he took at TripleMania.

Silver King told ESTO that he’s working on his independent dates thru August 4, then starting up with AAA from there.

Victor recapped last Sunday’s FSE show. I forget Super Nova was supposed to be captain in that match until just. That had to be a mistake by production, because the match sure doens’t make sense that way.

  1. This will do wonders for my already awful eyes.:D

My first test message will attempt to be informative…

Esto has the full Sunday Coliseo lineup.

Metalik will probably be replaced on Friday since it sounds like he got hurt this past Sunday in the tag tournament.

4 matches down and the CMLL PPV has been woeful from a wrestling standpoint. The trios titles match was quite the cluster in my opinion and La Mascara should be shot for his dreadful performance. Crowd was 100% *NOT* into the match aside from booing Mistico.

  2. @Rob:

You must be kidding since everyone in the boards is saying that although AAAMania looked great, the in ring stuff was much better in CMLL… oh wait, they’re the same guys that say that Leon-O and Rivera are the best workers from the Coliseo tourney, I guess that explains it.

I’ve just seen 1,2,4 and clips of the cage match from Tercera Caida, and it really seems weak, if it airs at a different timeslot than the regular show, I might not even care to catch it.

  3. Cubs,

Did you go to the Lucha show at Plaza Garibaldi? I’m wondering how it did. I always thought that place would be great for Lucha.

  4. @xuisaw: One of the scariest things about the 4 matches I’ve seen so far on the PPV is the amount of blown spots. I can count on one hand the number of blown spots combined from the last *two* PPV’s they had (both great shows) and this time I’m already on my second hand.

The only guy who stood out and didn’t blow anything was La Sombra and he was doing the most complicated stuff!

  5. Well i saw the first 3 PPV matches, and that was enough for me. I couldn’t even be assed watching Mistico v Garza and the cage match. Really bad stuff this time.

The segunda in particular was dreadful and had no redeeming points at all – despite 5 of the 6 guys in it being good-to-great.

And when compared to the last 2 PPV openers, last Fridays opener was like a bad joke. They were just going through the motions like they do on a Tuesday or Sunday card. The only small highlight was Flash’s dive, but that hardly redeems it – after that, the best thing i can say about it is i like the Pandilla’s entrance and matching gear.

I will probably get round to watching the cage match as the official vids made it look sorta fun, but i will quite happily miss that semi. Not one participant in it gives me any interest any more.
    – La Mascara is La Mascara
    – Fantasma looks shit after a somewhat decent debut
    – If you’ve saw one Dos Caras match you’ve seen them all
    – Panther can’t show anything in a CMLL environment
    – Garza would look good if you were seeing him for the first time, but after that you realise he is just sticking to the same memorised sequences all the time, and
    – Mistico 08 is staler than stale.

I’m actually getting really bored with ‘New CMLL’. There’s little in the way of good, well worked lucha libre matches nowadays – it feels more like its just about neat sequences and signature spots (and lots of them crammed into as short a time as possible). And as much as they’re tonnes of fun, work their little asses off, and are easily the best thing CMLL has going for it this year, the minis are not totally exempt from that criticism. Watching old videos from 1998 for instance like i did the other night just made it depressing to think of the current state of CMLL.

Maybe i need a short break from it or something.
