3) Dr. Wagner Jr., el Hijo Del Anibal, Silver King b Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Máscara Sagrada

I was wondering if they were still doing TV tapings outside of Arena Naucalpan. This would be a yes. MA2K Jr. fouled Wagner, Wagner fouled MA2K Jr. back for the pin. Fuerza beat Multifacetico in the semifinal.

IWRG AZTECA (SUN) 06/01 Arena Naucalpan [the gladiatores]

This was also an Azteca taping. Junior Capos interfered in the main event for the DQ. Semimain sets up a tag title match for this week. Tough night on the undercard – Halcon 2000 got knocked out int he second fall and Jack broke Xibalba’s nose with a forearm.

4) Demony, Septiembre el Terrorista, Veneno b Freelance, Solar I, Zatura
5) Blue Demon Jr., el Hijo Del Anibal, Multifacético b Fuerza Guerrera, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Ricky Cruzz

Card was shuffled because Black Terry had a leg injury and his singles match with Fuerza had to be pulled. Veneno challenged Solar to a title shot after beating him – is anyone allowed to challenge for the title besides Negro Navarro? Rudos fell apart after the main event loss, MA2K Jr and Ricky Cruzz teased a mask match. They’re going in that direction, sorta.

Besides all that’s already been mentioned, Superluchas #267 has a really good interview with Satanico.

In Ovaciones, Arturo’s Sunday column lambastes the Jucio Final match. He makes it very clear he has nothing against the wrestlers, just the programmers who are making things so obvious. Arturo picks Damian 666 as the most obvious to lose his hair, followed by Alex and Terrible. That seems reasonable.

Arturo also reveals the reason for AAA’s trip to New York (and back) on Wednesday – there’s a premire for a movie (on a yacht), an animanted movie featuring AAA wrestlers. No name of the movie is mentioned, which you’d think would be kinda important.

The main Ovaciones story is about the juggled Jucio Final undercard. There’s notes on upcoming IWRG shows as well.

There’s interview with Ricky Marvin by Notimex, presumably done at the press confrence. Ricky says he won’t give 100% at TripleMania – he’ll give 200% to make people happy. Not a lot new about Ricky – he’s spending most of his time in Japan because that’s where his family is, but he misses the food and language of Mexico. He doesn’t have any problems with CMLL, since he feels they put in him posotion to succeed elsewhere, and might work again with them one day. Ricky says he’s back in Mexico for 3 weeks, so he should make TV a couple times after TripleMania.

In an interview with Notimex, Shocker says the tecnicos should focus on Perro Aguayo Jr. in the cage match. Shocker also worries the Perros will be more focused and stronger after taking two losses this week – nowt hey know the tecnico crew is a real threat.

Accion’s CMLL highlights were of the atomicos main event, and pretty much as you’d expect. The AAA highlights were of the maine vent tag match from Cancun. The camera looked very wet, and it must’ve been tough conditions, though it seemed like it stopped raining here by the end. Chessman toped into a chair shot, then bleed over his red face paint (again.) After Zorro makes Cibernetico quit to win the match, Rodlan showed up. Zorro and Konnan took care of his security themselves. Roldan turned to leave, but Electro, Jack and Teddy had slipped into the ring to cut him off. The clips puase there – I guess the idea is what the Legion did to Roldan was so horrible (they say he was taken to the hospital), they refuse to show that sort of violence against officals. Did they do that bit on the actual TV show as well?

An OEM editoral wishes for the return of lucha libre movies.

Superluchas has a short article on the Idolos del Catch group in Buenos Aires.

10) ? & ?? vs ??? & ???? [Coliseo TAG, torneo, final]
11) Heavy Metal, Marco Corelone, Místico vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Putting aisde the Arena Coliseo Tag Team Titles for a sec, that minis match is close to a rematch from tonight’s match. Shockertico replaces Tzuki. I wonder who’s going to feud.

This could be Marco or Metal’s first match with their heads shaved! It won’t be.

  1. Riki Marvin will be tonight at Nuevo Laredo’s 4 Caminos, it’s an anniversary show so they’ll have a cage match and Chessman vs Electro in a mano a mano as well.

I might be going since I figure the arena is like 25 blocks away from where I now live so I could make it back walking if there are no cabs around, but I’m not acquainted to the surroundings yet so who knows, maybe the shows get aired locally.

BTW, the tvguide says channel 67 is C52Mx but it actually is Mexico City’s 22. So maybe C52Mx will end being dropped everywhere.

  2. Oh, and Legion beated up Roldan pretty good (or bad if you mark for tecnicos).

Noti AAA had them pushing the main event and hair match, no mention about Abismo Negro at all, was it ever known why he was taken off the card?

Also, it looked as if the bullring was reasonably well covered and not the total disaster the original reviewer made it sound at first.

  3. At the press conference, they said he had a neck injury. But I think that’s just the storyline cover story.

  4. Chui. Which cable system are you referring to with ch.67 no longer being 52mx?

I know Cablevision(Mexico City) no longer has it, in addition to SKY.

  5. It seems it’s called Hypercable, which looks a lot like megacable which I used to have in La Laguna. I think Megacable is from Guadalajara, don’t know about this hypercable guys, but it seems that TVC has a lot to do with cable programming and that they got strong ties with Televisa, so I’m thinking MVC will eventually be out of every cable outlet down here.

BTW, guys are saying next Saturday TVC will have the LA Park vs Black Tiger show… I guess I might get that…

  6. Chui – Roberto (RFC) at lomejordelalucha says he still gets Canal52MX where he lives which is Monterrey.

Do you know who is in the cage match tonight? I wouldn’t suggest looking at the lineup b/c the loser might be a BIT obvious.:P

  7. If they work it like a AAA cage match, it means that anyone could be losing… still, it seems I won’t be making to it since I have something else to do…

We’ll see about this Televisa vs MVS (I misspelled it MVC upwards, sorry, blame beer) but Televisa’s SKY already drove DirectTV out of business and they had the Soccer World Cup exclusively, so I don’t give DISH-MVS or what ever it ends up being named much of a chance.

  8. There are two cable systems that I know of in Monterrey. Cablevision(owned by Multimedios) and MVS(which would explain why RFC has 52mx).

Megacable and CableMas are the biggest cable providers in Mexico. Televisa is in talks to purchase CableMas.

I didn’t know Televisa drove DirecTV out of Mexico. I thought DirecTV owned a piece of SKY at first, then wanted nothing to do with Mexico because the piracy was out of control.

Dish and MVS are supposed to start satellite service to Mexico soon.

Rob. You gotta get the Solar vs. Navarro match from RFC.

  9. SKY was and is owned by Televisa. There was a DirecTV dish service which was supported by TVAzteca but went out of business in late 05 or 06.

Since Direct TV had the rights to the soccer World Cup, Televisa bought it from them and they’re now aired on SKY, but that’s when their relationship started, not from the beginning, I wonder if Televisa gave Direct TV some SKY shares or something.

MTY Cablevision should be part owned by Televisa as well, it seems that 20+ years ago, Multimedios was a Televisa re-broadcaster, and still holds some rights to their programming or used to have till a few years back. I guess Televisa let them run the Cablevision business while they’re tight.

  10. Also, as far as I know, MVS is not a cable system, I think they started in Veracruz and use microwave antennae to broadcast their signal. It’s really cheap, like 9 dollar. So the board guys whining about SKY dropping MVS are just a bunch of rich crybabies who only got WWE for free because their parents bought it for them, they could easily go for the antenna system but if they’re not willing to pay 9 per month, they won’t be paying the PPVs at real price if it ever comes to happen that scenario.

  11. Solar/Navarro was alright but knowing the crap finish was on it’s way kinda cheapened things. Much better than the Japan showing.

I really hate everyone saying Canal52MX was only for WWE. I watched for ARENA MEXICO SEGUNDAS!

  12. Yup, Televisa owns a piece of CV Monterrey, but it’s still controlled by Multimedios. I think MM even did some PPV’s for the Monterrey vs. Torreon games.

MVS does offer cable tv in Monterrey and DF and some other cities, but their subscription base is small. They go under the name MAS TV.
