05/31: Mexico, pending debuts, lineups

CMLL (FRI) 05/30 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, ESTO, superluchas]
1) Calígula & Méssala b Astro Boy & Molotov
2) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Marcela b Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei
3) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr. [CMLL TRIOS, qf, torneo]
4) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Místico DQ Villano III, Villano IV, Villano V [CMLL TRIOS, qf, torneo]
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Místico b Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto [CMLL TRIOS, sf, torneo]
6) Heavy Metal, Marco Corelone, Shocker DQ Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mr. Aguila, Terrible
7) Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Último Guerrero b Héctor Garza, LA Park, Negro Casas

In the main event, Ultimo fouled Negro and got away with it. Hector hurt his knee on his tornillo. ESTO says LA Park got into an argument with a former wrestler in the crowd who’s unidentified so far.

Perros destroyed the tecnicos, and Shocker’s gear, but went too far and got DQed for excessive violence. Shocker was alive enough to cut a promo on Perro for a singles match, but they’ll be running an atomicos match with almost everyone next week.

Villanos opted to destroy Panther and yank off his mask rather than try and win the trios titles here. Panther wasn’t able to help much in the semifinal, but Dos and Mistico were enough to beat the reformed Triad of Terror in a four minute match

CMLL announced a whole bunch of new novatos on 06/08 in Coliseo
– Caifan I
– Soberano (Euforia’s brother)
– Catedrático (?)
– Corsario (should be India Sioux’s brother, Rey Bucanero’s cousin)
– Hechicero (there’s a Madero/Tampico local wrestler with that name)

Arturo Rivera’s column made it to the Ovaciones website proper. As expected: jabs at Wagner, jabs at CMLL for insta-feuds while they’ve spent months building their matches for 06/13. Arturo says BOTH shows will be on PPV, which is news about the CMLL show if true, and says the AAA show will be available on the internet. Where? I have no idea.

Noroeste.com interviews Fuerza Guerrera, who’s wrestling Dr. Wagner Jr. in Mazatlan next week. Fuerza’s pretty happy not to be in AAA anymore.

CMLL (TUE) 06/03 Arena Mexico
1) Artillero & Zayco vs Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II
2) Flash, Metalik, Súper Nova vs Arkangel de la Muerte, Hooligan, Nitro
3) Axxel, Fabián el Gitano, Máximo vs Diamante Negro, Euforia, Nosferatu
4) Black Warrior, Lizmark Jr., Sangre Azteca vs Grey Shadow, Heavy Metal, Héctor Garza
5) Blue Panther vs Último Guerrero

CMLL (FRI) 06/06 Arena Mexico
1) Metálico & Tigre Blanco vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Lady Apache, Luna Mágica, Sahori vs Hiroka, Medussa, Mima Shimoda
3) Alex Koslov, Sagrado, Volador Jr. vs Ephesto, Misterioso II, Mr. Águila
4) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero vs Héctor Garza, Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara and Máscara Año 2000, Olímpico, Universo 2000 and Felino, LA Park, Máximo [CMLL TRIOS, sf, torneo]
5) Heavy Metal, Marco Corelone, Negro Casas, Shocker vs Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Terrible, Texano

Not sure what’s going on with the Trios tournament. A rudo team in the final makes sense, but the Dinamitas and Olimpico vs a Mistico team doesn’t quite work. If Atlantis is still having a celebration on 06/13, he can’t quite win here. Maybe they’ll change teams again this week.

  1. SuperLuchas notes the National Champs were dumped in just over 4 minutes. Way to put over the champs as having no chance at all compared to all the makeshift team in the tournament!

In fact – every match last night seemed ultra short. Main barely hit 5 minutes for 3 falls! Got terrible reviews.

Looks like Fabian/Diamante is back on for Tuesday. Panther/Ultimo should be fun but I doubt they stray from the formula. Panther fall one, Guerrero small package fall two and Guerrero cheats to win in fall three. Naturally I’m stoked for the segunda!

Friday looks like a mess. Why not dump Koslov/Aguila in the main and do one of those ‘ruleta contra reloj’ matches? Or just a quick Torneo? You can already rule out Koslov losing the cage match since he isn’t going to TNA bald and Aguila seems safe as well.

Trios tournament has obvious winners out of the teams listed now. But like you said – Atlantis already has matches for June 13. And if they’re not doing the finals on June 13 – why were we subjected to these awful teams instead of the Casas Bros., another Perros team, etc.? Either they’re making card changes again mid-week or this is more “oops” booking and they’re gonna push back the finals for June 20 (my guess).

  2. No feed working here.:( That’s okay though – HVS upped the mini’s from Record and C3 is gonna ROCK!:D

  3. Tapia got into a slap fight with Erik Morales… yeah, the one running shows with Hijo del Santo… hello Wagner, bye LA Park!!

  4. I forgot my original comment – isn’t CMLL overdoing it with the debuts? I love seeing new guys and have always come down on CMLL for using the same guys without injecting new blood but this year especially has been off the charts for new faces/masks showing up. Having 5 guys debut on one show seems a bit over the top, no? Might have been more interesting to do a tag tournament or something where 16 new guys get chances to join the promotion in two seperate groups of 4 but only the winners of each bracket get to come in. I also wouldn’t put much stock in the names being who they’re supposed to be besides Caifan and Soberano.

  5. It’s not so bad, you get 4 new guys making their debuts on every b-show with a singles main! :-p

Don’t really care about last nights card, don’t really care about this weeks cards (although the Metalik match should be fun)… JUST GIVE US OUR FIRST LOS RAYOS TAPATIOS CMLL TV MATCH, C3! :)

The trios tourney next week looks particularly weak. Felino and Maximo are clearly only in to make up for them being dropped last week. It surely has to be Los Guerreros in he big june show final, no matter what was reported about Atlantis. There’s no way it can be any of those other teams.

It must be a long while since Mistico’s been 3rd from top.

  6. 12/7 was the last time he was third from the top as Parka vs Perrito and the double hair match were both on top of his meaningless trios match where he got revenge on Averno. In fact his match never even made any TV that day while the rest of the card did!

  7. And I second the notion of the C3 opener airing! But I also first, second and third the motion of it not airing if it means the mini’s get extra time!:D

  8. Okay, I am officially worried that this C3 show looks new to me and has been airing for over an hour as we’re 2 minutes away from C3…

  9. INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That may have been the greatest two fall match I’ve ever seen! It was like 85% tecnico offense and mostly from Tzuki who was *INCREDIBLE*!!! Dorada was a close second and did a THREE AND A HALF ROTATION satellite armdrag!!! Pequeno Warrior was fantastic for the rudiots. He took it to the mat early on and was a great catcher the entire match. WHAT A MATCH!!!

  10. Damn, they were only teasing us with last weeks opener. :(

On the brightside, awesome opener, if a bit one-sided with not enough rudo asskicking for me. Tzuki and Dorada were on Fire though, partly thanks to the awesomeness of the mini familia :)

  11. Oh man how could I forget Dorada’s first fall insane double rotation satellite headscissors into his small package finisher! That might have been the spot of the match for me!

Stuka Jr.’s combo mask with Nova is awesome and his exchange with Misterioso II early on was great! Misterioso’s mask ain’t too shabby either!

  12. Tercera wasn’t bad at all. Stuka Jr. is beyond awesome. Is he the most creative flyer on the roster? I’d say it’s between him, Sombra and if you count mini’s… Mascarita Dorada. Super Nova also looked pretty damn awesome in his exchanges.

Maximo did a somersault plancha! Can you believe it Henrik???:D

Now let’s see if Sombra can balance out La Mascara in the next match…

  13. Sombra must know we’re debating most creative flyer b/c he just did an awesome asai moonsault transitioned right into a northern lights suplex! He really should be in TNA instead of Averno.

  14. What did CMLL TV air? I just read they didn’t air the semi-main which can’t be right since it features all the hair match guys in it unless there is a PPV and they’re saving up matches now?

  15. CMLL had top 3 from last night but switched the main and semi. And of course, they omitted all of the LA Park and Morales stuff (are they stupid to ignore CMLL won’t air that or they think magazines other tv shows are enough of a publicity stunt?)

  16. Rivera also said that both CMLL and AAA’s shows will be on SKY and AAA on internet (webcast?) as well.

  17. Damn… competeing PPV’s. This could be the start of a big change in Mexico. And now I have reason to pray the CMLL lineup for June 13 includes MINI’S! Women have been up for so many weeks in a row that it’s gotta be time for the mini’s on the PPV.

I wonder if AAA is gonna add a match or really open up their show with the Apache’s hair match?

  18. I wonder if Televisa will get matters in their hands and prevent them doing direct competition again, they probably think fans would have to choose one or the other, but I guess both have their crowds and should do good (although it seems CMLL is in a bad streak, word is that even the 2 Leyendas was not sold out).

Competence is good though, Cage hair match, Wagner returning for Atlantis homage, and the trios final is the kind of card fans want for special shows and CMLL has not delivered in a while. Could they book an Amapola vs Dark Angel hair match for the undercard?

  19. Televisa is SKY so for whatever reason, they put both shows on. If I were AAA, I’d be pissed off because CMLL is the one throwing competition at them and SKY/Televisa is allowing it. AAA really should’ve done a Sunday anyway Triplemania anyway.
