05/17: Perro Jr. added to next week’s hair match

CMLL (FRI) 05/16 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, superluchas, ESTO,
1) Pequeño Violencia & Pierrothito b Shockercito & Último Dragoncito
2) Amapola, Hiroka, Princesa Sujei b Dark Angel, Goddess, Marcela
3) Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Villano V b Blue Panther, La Máscara, Volador Jr.
4) Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Shocker DQ el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Terrible, Texano
5) Dos Caras Jr., Héctor Garza, Místico b Atlantis, Toscano, Último Guerrero

Not much to say about the main event. Tecnicos won the semimain in straight falls due to Metal faking a foul from Perro Jr.. Toscano ran in after and brawled with his opponent for next week, which somehow annoyed Los Peroros and led to Perro Jr. challenging both men to change next week’s hair match into a triangle match with him. Seems a bit late for that, but attendance was way down this week so maybe they’re concerned. V5 pinned Panther in their match.

Ovaciones was already calling next week’s match a Triangle of Death, so everyone’s got the tip that the match would be changed last night. They didn’t even hint this was a possibility on Thursday – could they have looked out at the crowd before the fourth match and changed on the fly? That doesn’t seem like CMLL…

CMLL (TUE) 05/20 Arena Mexico
1) Molotov & Sensei vs Carrona & Cholo
2) Arkangel de la Muerte, Bronco III, Hooligan vs Metalik, Tigre Blanco, Tony Rivera
3) Fabián el Gitano, Flash, Mictlán vs Diamante Negro, Euforia, Nosferatu
4) Olímpico, Sangre Azteca, Último Guerrero vs Blue Panther, Negro Casas, Volador Jr.
5) Héctor Garza, Místico, Sagrado vs Averno, Mephisto, Villano V

That would be Metalik’s DF debut. Also, Tigre Blanco hasn’t been around a few weeks, and I’d guessing being back here means the head issues aren’t much of them. And they’re already doing a rematch of the tag title participants.

CMLL (FRI) 05/23 Arena Mexico
1) Stuka Jr. & Súper Nova vs Ohara & Shigeo Okumura
2) Dark Angel, Goddess, Luna Mágica vs Amapola, Hiroka, Mima Shimoda
3) Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Negro Casas vs Damián 666, Terrible, Texano Jr.
4) Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Shocker vs Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
5) Héctor Garza & Místico vs Averno & Mephisto [CMLL TAG]
6) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo vs Toscano, Heavy Metal [hair]

I suspect Perro is just there to sell the tickets, beat both men, and not be in the final match to risk his hair. But it’s not like we’d be ripped off not to see Toscano vs Heavy Metal.

I don’t know what this mean, and maybe it means nothing, but they would’ve referred to the top two matches as a double main events in recent years. This time, Mistico’s match is just a semifinal.

  1. Well they certainly went with “make it a loaded show” rather than “make it a good show”. Lots of their supposed “stars” on the card so you’ll get bang for your buck attending but it probably won’t be a great in-ring show.

I really think Perrito was added b/c they are scared Toscano will no-show. I still think it’s coming down to Heavy vs Toscano with Toscano winning and eventually having a match with Negro.

    Atlantis/Bucanero/Guerrero? Hmm.

Still wouldn’t be surprised if come next Friday the tag title match goes on last.

    Now as for Tuesday…

HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO METALIK!:D I’ll be ready to watch C3 next weekend!:D Glad he’s debuting so low and won’t have the pressure on him so much. Plus it’ll be my first time seeing Bronco III aside from this Torneo from the Expo – http://youtube.com/watch?v=X5LYU7edtnI – doesn’t the body remind you of the other Soberano, Chui?

Rest of Tuesday is very bleh.

People on ByL are saying Fox Sports aired the mini’s opener from Wednesday night @ Arena Mexico! Can you confirm that, Chui? That’d be fucking amazing!

We also need confirmation that Mascarita/Tzuki were on GdR today pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!:/

I WANT THE REYES DEL AIRE!!!

  2. Anyways I only wanted to see the main event which is already up on cmll.com (nice tornillo by Mistico!). Only other thing I was curious to see was if any of the mini’s spots made it to Momentos. Can you check for me, Victor?

  3. Working fine for me.

Atomo/Pequeno Maximo is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too green. I have no idea why he was brought up so fast, isn’t he only like 17? He blew about 4 spots in the first fall alone.

  4. GREAT second fall of the mini’s match! Dorada is unbelieveable. He and Pequeno Damian set a record for the longest rotation on that satellite headscissors and then Dorada did a tope suicida into an armdrag near the ringpost! Pequeno Maximo did a wild tope suicida and Fantasy did a huge running somersault plancha. Dorada pinned Pequeno Damain with the out of control satellite small package.

  5. Fun minis match.

Pequeno Maximo sucks though, he’s totally pointless. The minis division doesn’t need that shit.

Good news for Bracito De Oro i guess though :)

  6. It’s actually supposed to be Atomo. Bracito De Oro was bigger and fatter. Plus if you watch the 12/21 CMLL TV video on youtube you’ll see the similarities between Atomo’s movements/dive and today’s match.;)

But I totally agree. The mini’s division doesn’t need Pequeno Maximo. Maybe for spot shows he’ll be good so the guys don’t have to go all out and can get by on his comedy sometimes but he shouldn’t be an Arena Mexico attraction.

This time next week we’ll all be marking out for METALIK!

  7. Geez, Felino and Misterioso II *never* hit that headscissors spot but the armdrag before it was awesome.

  8. They’re actually building a Fabian vs Diamante mask match up. DQ last week, surprise pin this week and they’re programmed together again next week.

  9. Yeah, i kinda thought of Atomo when i saw Maximocito and realised he was more of a real bow-legged midget than a mini. What i meant was Bracito de Oro now ain’t the weakest in the minis division.

Strictly speaking he never was because Atomo was green as hell, but at least Atomo had his own gimmick and would try cool shit, so could at least be fun to watch. Now as Maximo, we’ll never see any of that. He’s obviously just sticking to the 100% emulation of full size Maximo, which is so not good.

Considering the appeal of the minis to the kids, it seems a bit weird having a gay midget gimmick in the division.

Just watching that last match until my computer died on me for some reason – Axxel continues to impress. I quite like him, he knows what he’s doing and everything he does is pretty crisp & tight.

  10. AH. Yeah, well at least we don’t have to deal with Bracito any more since he appear to not be making any more TV.:p

I like Axxel too. He just needs to chill out with the Santo replica spots when he works in Arena Mexico b/c it comes off as though he is just a clone.

  11. A year ago today, part one of the leyenda de plata tourey at Arena Mexico.

And SuperLuchas had a frontpage headline saying, “Triplemania en el Palacio de los Deportes”? They were right.

  13. Hey Rob, the only mini’s spot on Momentos was Dorada doing a moonsault onto Little Warrior’s knees, and they showed Valiente’s dive to nowhere.

  14. NOT HORRIBLE NEWS.

I really need to read everything before posting. Metalik is listed as working Arena Coliseo next Sunday so it’s probably him on Tuesday.

    WHEW.

  15. Wow, I’m a role here.

It *is* Metalik on Tuesday. SuperLuchas even has a short paragraph on his upcoming debut.

    I’m excited, sorry.

  16. This 90 minute FSE show is indeed the Record show from Wednesday being aired as a special. Cool.

  17. FYI — Incognito won the Rey de Voladores tourament today in Philadelphia.

Turbo and Incognito had some great spots last night in their elimination match, including Turbo turning a super Razor’s Edge into a rana.

  18. The 90 minute show aired on Fox Sports in Mexico on Friday night, so this was quicker than usual turnaround. I haven’t watched more than the first few minutes it yet, but may before the end of this week.

I ought to list what aired, now that i think about it, because I don’t remember if the tv lineup was reported – I’ll repeat this later on the update.
CMLL RECORD (WED) 05/14/2008 Arena Mexico
    1) Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico, Tzuki vs Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween – yes, I’ll put this up when I get to this show
    3) Axxel, Máximo, Sagrado vs Euforia, Misterioso II, Nosferatu
    4) Blue Panther, Héctor Garza, Volador Jr. vs Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mr. Águila
    5) Marco Corelone, Místico, Shocker vs Atlantis, Black Warrior, Último Guerrero

I’ve only zoomed thru it, so I don’t know if there was clipping. I do know they took out the entrances for the first two matches.

For anyone besides myself interested in production: The usual GdR graphics (actually, the ones before the latest update for whatever reason), and the MVS group of announcers, but none of the usual between falls filler – dance segments and short promos in and out, but no Outside the Ring stuff. It seems like longer segments than usual – lots of segments with two falls, and I think the tercera might have aired complete without a break. Maybe they clipped it down to make a work, hard to tell till I watch closer.

I hope Turbo gets used more often in Chikara.

  19. “1) Mascarita Dorada, Pequeño Olímpico, Tzuki vs Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pequeño Halloween – yes, I’ll put this up when I get to this show”

CAN YOU PL….. oh. Yes. Good.:)

This will SORT OF make up for if Dorada/Tzuki’s tag match didn’t air on GdR. SORT OF. I still want it to air. Please. Someone. Bring good news. Please.

Here’s hoping that special got good ratings and FSE continues to air special 90 minute shows!

Incognito is a deserving winner. He’s a great wrestler and needs a break. I always thought he’d be good for AAA but he had a falling out with them in 2005. He’d have been great for TNA to use regularly but I’m not sure I’d wish that on him now after seeing a TNA TV show this Saturday for the first time in a while.

I’ll also echo Cubs – Turbo needs more Chikara work. Hopefully he wins the right people over with the past two shows and then next week’s shows as well so that he can make the trip with Skayde once again next time he comes over.

It’s kinda funny b/c back some years ago when Skayde first worked Chikara I e-mailed Quack and listed four people that would be great to bring over along with Skayde…

    – Pantera
    – Turbo
    – Black Thunder
    – Neo

So that’s 2 for 4 so far and at the time I had no idea that Neo was working CMLL under a new name so that would probably be impossible to pull off now. Gotta start working on Black Thunder!:P Turbo vs Black Thunder would be off the charts.

  20. Given that Incognito has been part of winning the last two tournaments, Quack must be high on him. I think it also helps that he is a bigger luchador and can work with people like Claudio and Brodie.

I can’t wait to see Turbo vs Skayde. that’s worth the trip to CT alone.
