04/27: AULL, IWRG, lineups

I went to the GALLI show, but I’m going to push that to tomorrow. Nothing huge, though more no shows than usual.

Arturo Rivera’s weekend column has breaking news on Rey Misterio Jr.’s retirement: it may happen in in five years. Perhaps. Also, May Flowers is done in AAA which gives Arturo the chance to mourn the lack of vets there.

Accion’s CMLL highlights were off the main event. Spots spots (including Garza and Mistico doing moonsaults together) and Mistico getting the clean win. AAA had the Cibernetico/Parka vs Zorro/Konnan match, which they had trouble making look action packed even in highlights. Konnan, the one guy in the match who has no business winning, got the win. There was as much shown after the match as before it, pushing Zorro vs Cibernetico vs Mesias. There was a good two seconds in here where Zorro didn’t look like a third wheel way out of his league. Don’t get me wrong, that’s an improvement.

AULL (WED) 04/23 Arena Lopez Mateos [Superluchas #261]
1) Cosmico & Eagleman b Corsario de Plata & Rollin Boy
2) Medieval, Trauma I, Trauma II b Hijo del Valiente, Shuriken, Valiente Jr.
3) Faraon jr., Kung Fu Jr., Mano Negra Jr. b Carta Brava, el Mosco, Epidemia
4) Mano Negra, Negro Navarro, Shu el Guerrero b Rocky Santana, Villano III, Villano IV
5) Blue Panther & Dr. Wagner Jr. DQ Canek & Villano V

Canek yanked Wagner’s mask, which is a pattern this week. This was clearly to set up a title match between the two, but it’ll have to wait quite a bit – you’ll have to go down a few paragraphs to find out more.

IWRG (THU) 04/24 Arena Naucalpan [Superluchas #261]
1) Rey Estruendo b Halcon 2000
2) Nemesis IWRG & Quarterback b Avisman & Back Jack
3) Aeroman, Chico Che, Sakura b Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) Solar I, Super Astro, Ultraman b El Hijo del Diablo, Negro Navarro, Veneno
5) Dr. Wagner Jr., Multifacético, Pantera DQ Fuerza Guerrera, Hijo del Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000

Main event ended in a DQ when Fuerza yanked Wagner’s mask. Tercera was said to be especially good.

(Superluchas) Canek is under going right knee surgery. If what I read previously was correct, Canek had surgery on both knees in 2007, so something’s gone wrong. This knee surgery is going to sideline him until 2009. Outside of his Todos x el Todos appearance, Canek’s going to have a lost two years.

The Dr. Wagner Jr. media tour continues in SuperLuchas #261. Wagner says the word “emos” in this interview. $$$$$. I still do not know how freedom of expression = CMLL booking Dr. Wagner, but Wagner’s concept seems to be “I’m too awesome not to be booked, so they’re denying my freedom to express how awesome I am.” Also, Fuerza Guerrera says he’d go to CMLL if they’d called (and then stares at the phone, hopefully.)

Super Nova ended up replacing Ultimo Dragon on the NWE Spain tour, which means there were some CMLL vs AAA interaction with Juvi. Guess there would’ve been regardless, but this kinda makes AAA’s “Juvi only Mexican invited on tour” bit look dumb.

Yea, we’re short a match, so I’m thinking the Shadow/Sangre match will happen. I wonder how that went down

CMLL: I’d like to have a title match next week!
Comission: SURE!
CMLL: It’ll be Sangre Azteca putting up his Mexican National title against Grey Shadow…
Comission: Now, wait, isn’t Grey Shadow a foreigner from an unspecified country?
CMLL: Perhaps.
Comission: So wouldn’t I have to not allow this match?
CMLL: Well…PERHAPS Grey Shadow is from a another country – but which one?
Comission: Why, I don’t know! Even if he looks a lot like that Cuban Rocky Romero, I can not begin to hazard a guess.
CMLL: If you don’t which country he’s from, how can you say he’s not from Mexico?
Comission: … I see no flaw in that arguement! APPROVED! [uses rubber stamp]
CMLL: Thanks! Fine work keeping a close eye on stuff.

I had to get that in tonight, just in case they made another left turn, you see. This is better than anything I could possible say about Bronco. Couldn’t they have called him “Bronco Negro” since he’s a rudo or something other than being yet another Bronco? You think if Sagrado had continued to suck enough that they got rid of him quickly, they would’ve just reused the name for Mistico? For a company built on history and tradition, they do seem to expect people to forget when they’re reusing bad names and concepts for no particular reason.

SOMBRA DE PLATA Y ÁNGEL AZTECA JR. VS SEMENTAL Y CARROÑA

    !!!!!!!!

It was great seeing the commision actually have a skit on TV this weekend only for the Mistico match to air afterwards with his now infamous “the commision means nothing” line. Total work though, trying to make Mistico into a badass.

I wonder how long before we find out who the new Bronco is. Wouldn’t shock me if it ends up being the other Soberano to be quite honest.
