mid April Chicago lucha notes

SuperLuchas posted some stuff I wanted to point out

ELLMEX (SAT) 04/12 Estadio Concord, Chicago, IL [bunso1305 @ superluchas]
1) Rey Makawee b Enfermero Loco
2) Discovery & Torando b Principe Azteca I & Principe Azteca II
3) Diabolico & Horoscopo b Kamakazee & Rey Fuego
4) Principe Franky & Rayo Lazer b Bazooka & Martin Escobedo

I thought the semimain was supposed to be a mask/hair match. Apparently not. There’s also now video up of Chela Salazar show.

Arenas de Chicago (SAT) 04/12 Ninth Grade Center, Waukagen, IL [CPW]
1) Super Villano b Rey Makawi
2) Bazooka & Horoscopo b Electron & Resistencia
3) Duce Trey b Chris Micahels
4) Great Cheyenne b Fuzion
5) Imapcto, Rey Fuego, Silueta Dorada b Angel de la Muerte & Rey Makawi
6) Discovery, Misteriosito, Nuevo Ciudadano b Aguila del America, Guerrerito del Futuro, Infernal

GALLI’s running on an ice rink this Sunday

GALLI (SUN) 04/20 Edge II Ice Arena, Bensenville, IL
1) Centella de Oro & Nemesis GALLI vs Bandolero & Venganza
2) Meteoro 1 & Meteoro 2 vs Chilango & Funebre
3) Silueta Dorado & Slayer vs Blade & Resistencia
4) Acid Jazz & Negrotistico vs Isias Velazques & Steve Boz
5) Charly Manson Jr. & Tigre vs Guerrilero & Pentagon del Infierno
6) Huracan Ramirez, Huracan Ramirez Jr., Samuary vs Amenza del Siglo, Demencia, Yakuza

As much as I would like to see lucha libre on ice (or perhaps a dried rink where ice used to be), I don’t think I’m going to make it out to this one. I hope Acid Jazz works more shows, because he’s quite good.

They’ve canceled their Rockford show, but they’re running this show, then shows the following Friday (Addison) and Sunday (Hoffman Estates) and co-promoting a show on Saturday…

GALLI MEXREPCOMM (SAT) 04/26 Cicero Stadium [CPW
1) Nemesis GALLI vs Meteoro
2) Blade & Slayer vs Chialngo & Venganca
3) Quinto Sol & Tigre vs Funebre & Resistencai
4) Huracan Ramirez, Huracan Ramirez, Samuary vs Demencia, Pentagon del Infierno, Yakuza
5) Anibal Jr., Charly Manson Jr., Pantera vs Gringo Loco, Hijo del Cien Caras, Violencia

That’s a lot of lucha in a short time. This seems unsustainable. I hope I’m just missing a piece about how it’s working and everyone’s actually making lots of money.

  1. All those Lucha shows in one area at once? It’s my “every asshole theory” where one person gets a show off the ground, and every asshole has to run one close to you. Happens all the time.

Cicero Stadium is always on Telefutura and Rollergirls and looks like it could be a great place to hold regular events with four or five big names from Mexico. That show is weak.

  2. Every asshole theory or not, if I was living in the area I’d be dragging cubs to every single fucking show. Unless they were at the same time. Then he’d have to hit up one, I’d hit up the other and we’d swap fan cams afterwards. What a haven. Take advantage while it lasts…
