Small time wrestler and big time serial killer Maraviejtas was sentenced to 759 years in jail for her 11 confirmed murders (and other assorted crimes.) Mexican law caps that at 50 years, which doesn’t make any sense to me.
759 years?!?!?!?!!? At least she’ll be out before Stuka Jr. gets a push!

Hi Cubs,
Does the Mexican criminal justice system include parole eligibility as part of the sentence, because that might be the rationale behind the cap.
For example, a life sentence in Canada is 25 years (max). However, the actual time served could be much shorter depending on whether or not parole eligibility was given, and if so, after how many years.

It doesn’t detail whether parole is included in Mexican sentencing. Further, the link to “Constitution of Mexico” seems to be missing Article 18.
(Note: crim law is not my field of expertise, but the parole issue is probably where i would start looking first.
