Dos Leyendas: Perro Aguayo Jr. vs Hector Garza in a hair match

The show is scheduled for 03/21. The contracts were not signed today, but both wrestlers agreed to the match. (I’m guessing they just want to do another press conference for the contract signing in a couple weeks.)

Other news from the press conference, posted on CMLL.com
Averno Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero will get a rematch for the tag team titles, meeting Averno & Mephisto on 03/21.
– “La tercera generaciond el Santo, su nieto Axel” debuts in Arena Mexico on 03/04 April 4rd

  1. Pretty cool that they’re going with the hair mask for the main. I think it’s been pretty inevitable the past few weeks, but it’s still a pretty big stip match. And it’s fresh – not a cop-out like randomly throwing 10 guys in a cage, or hastily arranging some tag match without even knowing how it’s going to work, just to give someone their routine, yearly haircut.

But imo, the tag titles is hugely disappointing booking. I was intrigued by the match a few weeks ago for novelty value, but there’s no way i could really get into a rudos v rudos match like that, especially on a big show. It’s just not the same without a tecnico to cheer for with their spectacular offence, or a rudo kicking some tecnico ass.

It also pretty much rules out a real good, high-end uppercard trios/atomicos match, because after Bucanero (and maybe Warrior if he can be bothered), there’s barely anyone decent left on the rudo side to face Mistico and the vast array of tecnico talent. The card is going to have to be padded out with shit like Olimpico and Lizmark making up the numbers. The Perro b-team will probably also find their way into the mix.

There are so many decent mid-upper card tecnicos who are going to miss out due to these top 2 matches, and for the cuarta spot they’d probably be best running a 16 man torneo like the old Leyenda De Plata, even if the rudo side would obviously be weak.

Any murmurings as to whether it’s going to be on PPV?

  2. Mistico and Wagner are booked against each other on this show as well but it wasn’t announced whether it’d be singles, tag, trios, atomicos or mixed tag.

If anyone can pull of a match all by himself, it’s Averno. Doing a dive to nowhere would probably hurt though.

  3. acording to elmartinete, the top of the card would be:

Hijo del Perro Aguyo vs Hector Garza hair match.

    Mistico vs Dr Wagenr Jr

Averno & Mephisto vs Atlantis & Ultimo Guerrero for the CMLL tag tiltle.

Why Atlantis again? They should use Bucanero.

  4. How can they use Bucanero if they need him to interfere allowing Averno/Mephisto to win and begin Atlantis’ tecnico turn?

  5. They won’t be doing a Mistico vs Dr. Wagner Jr. match on the undercard of this. A trios match makes more sense, though I don’t know who Wagner teams with on the rudo side. Warrior, maybe.

  6. Atlantis never turned rudo, people started hating him and CMLL turned him rudo, turning him to tecnico would be futile since I don’t think the crowd will start cheering him just for turning.

  7. This going to be a big show. I personally been enjoying the Garza/Aguayo feud(and probably the only one). Can’t wait too see the match.

  8. Time to book a decision match for new champs:

Nat champs vs Stuka Jr./Valiente/Purpura on 3/21! Just unify the belts already.

  9. I am kinda disappointed in the Main Event… It’s not like we are going to see Perro bald, unless it’s to Mistico, which i doubt would happen in the near future. Garza is obv. going to job.
