02/24: lineups

CMLL officially announced the March Dos Leyendas is honoring Black Shadow along with Salvador Luttertoh as usual.

Arturo Rivera is down on everything this week.

That should be self explanatory.

Lineups

IWRG (THU) 02/28 Arena Naucalpan
1) Ambar vs Comando Gama

4) Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Septiembre Negro II vs El Fantasma, el Hijo Del Anibal, Negro Navarro
5) Black Terry vs Multifacético [IWRG IC WELTER]

Multifacético’s big push probably continues, and Black Terry can get back to the business of feuding with Fantasma de la Opera

CMLL (SUN) 03/02 Arena Coliseo
1) Dr. X, Hooligan, Skandalo vs Sensei, Sombra de Plata, Trueno
2) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Luna Mágica vs Amapola, La Nazi, Rosa Negra

4) Máximo, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Lizmark Jr., Olímpico, Sangre Azteca
5) Atlantis, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero vs Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone

Lady Apache’s return from injury. Seems like a more full card than usual, with the novatos bumped.

IWRG (SUN) 03/02 Arena Naucalpan
1) Bacteria vs Judas el Traidor
2) Ambar & Star Boy vs Trauma I & Trauma II
3) Angel de Oro, Freelance, Soberano vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
4) Bogeman, Multifacético, Zatura vs Black Terry, El Hijo del Diablo, el Hijo del Pierroth
5) El Hijo del Solitario, Tarzan Boy, Ultramán Jr. vs Cien Caras Jr., Enterrador 2000, Pierroth II

Tarzan is starting here with this show, and under that old name.

IWRG (WED) 03/05 Roots Magic Club
1) Fantasma de la Ópera, Freelance, Multifacético vs Black Terry, Trauma I, Trauma II
2) Mascarita Sagrada (original), Skaide, Voladorcito vs Bracito de Plata, Katito Kung Lee, Pentagoncito
3) el Hijo Del Anibal, Groon XXX, Rayo de Jalisco Jr. vs ?, Hijo del Cien Caras, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.

This is the first TV Azteca taping, so I guess the idea is to load up on names. Who would it have to be in that mystery spot to make that match any good? It’s just not possible. SuperLuchas says Mascara Ano 2000 is headed in, which obviously makes sense there. Canek should be back around here at any time too. I think that’s a mini Skayde!

  1. March 21st which means 3 weeks of build-up left. You GOTTA figure they are changing the main event to Garza/Perrito this week.

Kinda weird to see Valiente/Maximo/Sangre Azteca booked over Sagrado, Terrible and Texano Jr., no?

That better be a mini Skayde!

  2. Tarzan Toscano might be a better name to start over new. He’s not a Boy anymore.

Daniel. According to Noti AAA, Intocable is the most requested stripper in Mexico. We’d like a quote from you regarding this matter.

  3. I’ve been watching Cinco Magnificos on Univision. Mr. Aguila really surprised me. He’s pretty good, and he’s what is keeping the yellow team alive. If WWE saw his break dancing they might bring him back. He deserves a spot.

  4. “Daniel. According to Noti AAA, Intocable is the most requested stripper in Mexico. We’d like a quote from you regarding this matter.”

    We do?

  5. El Angel is still working in AAA.

I meant nothing against Daniel, I was just curious as why we need to discuss male strippers. This isn’t a WWE fansite.

  6. Oh, and the theory making the rounds is Argenis is Mistico’s brother – the ex-Dr. Karonte Jr. of AULL fame.

  7. I just like to bust Daniels chops about Lover.

And it looks like guys working the Dodge Arena in McAllen are starting to book themselves in Reynosa the same weekend. Wrestlers are so sleazy. Lover is the first guy to do so.

  8. It’s a conflict of interest. Dodge Arena is in walking distance to the border. Now the guys appear to be encouraging the Reynosa promoter to use guys working the Dodge Arena because they’ll be in town. This is what happens in a con-man business without legitmate agents.

  9. So is this new IWRG tv in addition to the Thursday night Naucalpan shows, or is it a replacement for?

  10. In addition. Their Naucalpan tapings are still listed with their current TV provider (though far more people will be getting TV Azteca.)

  11. There is no current source for IWRG for the first time since early 2000 which is sad. Nobody has a source for that tiny Mexico City channel that used to carry AULL as well.

  12. I guess you’re talking about Tercera Caida on TVC tonight?

I think cubs is right, since TVC still lists IWRG. IWRG can not trust Azteca, because they’ll cancel the show if it flops.

Azteca might be the real reason CMLL pulled the guys, not Santo working a show at Naucalpan. CMLL would’ve known about an Azteca deal in advance.

  13. it was during the graphics of the teams they use before each match in the show, not Tercera.

I doubt CMLL would mind if their guys air on Azteca, but the problem might be if they go head to head to the main show.

  14. In the 90’s, when Azteca aired Lucha, Televisa would not allow anyone who worked on the Azteca show to work CMLL. Televisa also put pressure on CMLL not to rent Cuernavaca for TV Azteca tapings.

This resulted in Sunday shows at Coliseo featuring some Azteca wrestlers, as long as the shows weren’t being taped. And there were some big gates as a result.

  15. Regardless of produces the shows, Televisa didn’t want wrestlers from a competing network on their network. That’s common sense. Same logic would apply today. And I’m sure CMLL would not want their guys seen on both networks, as well. In reality, Naucalpan is trying to become the number three promotion in Mexico by going on Azteca.

This level of exposure will attract a few top names to jump to IWRG, regardless of what decade we’re in.

  16. None of the CMLL guys neither the AAA ones work for Televisa (save Latin Lover and maybe Abismo Negro) so even if they don’t want it, there’s nothing they could do.

CMLL guys have shown up in several Azteca shows, Rival Mas Debil, El Asesino, Historias Engarzadas, etc. CMLL already has a show in a different over the air network (Cadena 3) and AAA has aired shows through Multimedios, even Arturo Rivera did some comenting for a few ones, and he is a Televisa employee.

We’ll have to see what channel and time slot Azteca uses for the show, it might end up having a broader coverture than what Gala offers and might lead to Televisa airing one (or both) of their shows on a bigger network…

  17. Well, only time will tell. We’ll see how many guys work both Azteca and CMLL. I’m just using the best example I can think of, since history tends to repeat itself. And that example from 1996-1998 says that wrestlers in Mexico never worked both Telelisa and Azteca tapings. It was either one or the other.

Multimedios? You can’t compare the rivalry between Multimedios and Televisa to their rivalry with Azteca. Not even close. Multimedios is partners with Televisa in Cablevision Monterrey and in Leon, where Multimedios owns the Televisa channel.

  18. It could also be that Azteca doesn’t want to promote guys who are in Televisa? Maybe they’ll try to catch a different segment and want to establish their own guys, not giving a hand guys who are known as Televisa dudes.

  19. Well, you figure Canek and Rayo will work Naucalpan and be the top guys. I’m expecting Shocker too. Scorpio is someone I’ll bet we’ll see back in IWRG when he sees a timeslot on Azteca that he could be on.

Azteca 7 and 13 both seem to have the same distribution in Mexico, so coverage will actually be slightly better than CMLL/AAA on Televisa 9.

I’d also expect some of the LLF girls to drive themselves in for TV.

  20. If Azteca 13 carries it, you should get it. If it’s on Azteca 7 I doubt it. Rogers carries mostly Azteca 13 shows.
