I think Arturo Rivera is spreading the rumor of Latin Lover going to CMLL because he wants Latin Lover to go to CMLL. He was very openly resentful of him for missing the Pena Show.
If Latin Lover does go over (which I don’t think he will) then AAA will have absolutely no redeaming quality left over which is sad. Don’t get me wrong AAA has so much talent but unfortunatelly Konnan is there booking everybody all wrong.
Why are the Torreon shows taking place at the bullring? I thought Auditorio was the preferred venue for fans and promoters.

Forget about Latin Lover. He’ll never be a full-time worker again unless he blows his money.
Daniel. Konnan(or someone) is doing a great job of getting people interested in the Abismo vs. Niebla and Chessman vs. Halloween feuds. Have you even seen recent AAA? That verbal exchange between ‘bismo and Niebla was classic stuff. Chessman’s promos and recent match with Halloween was good too. And if Konnan is doing all the booking, he’s putting Elegido on top, so no one can cry that he hates strippers.
One guy told me last Friday that he was going to the bullring show, he wanted me to go with him but I can not get to shows being that early. I dunno if they’ll be any pics, the Wagner show is unlikely, they’re not letting fans in with cameras (maybe AAA is doing so as well, who knows)…
I find myself actually listening to AAA promos for the first time in years and years. That’s definitely one improvement in the product. They definitely need to let guys talk more if they can.
You’re right Rob. With three hours and one-fall matches, they have the time to let the guys talk. I was just blown away by Abismo getting right in Niebla’s face. That whole Viper storyline makes sense, and should be a year-long feud for those four guys.
The thing I find funny is that CMLL has 2 hours worth of weekend TV which features promos before every match and I can’t think of a SINGLE memorable promo from the 2+ year run. It’s as if nobody in the promotion can speak aside from the really top guys that get the odd post-match Arena Mexico promo but even then it’s all about catch phrases. Granted – talking isn’t a priority in CMLL like it is in AAA but you’d think these guys could come up with something since they only need to fill 20 seconds of air time usually.
CMLL just lost it’s ability to run angles. I’m not sure why, but they are so stale. I remember how great the Shocker vs. Emilio Charles stuff was. Or Shocker vs. Niebla. They built feuds that people got into. They just don’t do that anymore.
And the CMLL guys have more mic time to practice. The shows on 52MX and FSE and Azteca MTY all have promos. But nothing much is said to followed up on.
Cubs hit the nail on the head when he observed that CMLL on FSE is not episodic.
The CadenaTres show at least has some promos. They didn’t this past weekend but they usually do.
Speaking of CadenaTres, Rob have you watched the matches from this past weekend? I thought the Semi Main was pretty good.
Cadena Tres did start with a format where they did a promo with participants before each match. It’s very much like AAA in that sense.
AAA promos are used to get actual angles over. CMLL promos are used to kill 30 seconds of screen time by making a random challenge no one believes, including the person who says it. I think it makes a big difference in progression.

And who the fuck cares about Halloween and Chessman? If it’s in the mid card that’s fine but it looks like it’s main eventing a few shows and that goes to show what’s wrong with Konnan’s bookin.

I’m also assuming that you’re saying that just to be a typical Internet smart-ass fan who likes to go against the grain. Because if you honestly beleive that Chessman is better than Latin Lover, then you don’t know wrestling, especially not Mexican wrestling.
I believe it. Lover has not been a draw for years. Sure, he’s a media darling, but he just hasn’t translated into box office for AAA in a long time. Chessman is a star today, and hopefully will be for years to come.

There’s nothing wrong with Chessman vs Halloween per se, all I’m saying is that it’s not main event quality because neither of those two are main event stars especially not Halloween. I know they’re risking their lives and carreers doing garbage wrestling matches but that does not qualify them as main event stars. You say Chessman is a star? Let’s be real, he’s Cibernetico’s right hand man. That’s not a star. I’m not denying his athletic ability or hard work but he is in Cibernetico’s shadow.
Tim, you proved once again you don’t know Mexican wrestling by saying he doesn’t fit in with Intocable and Elegido now. Intocable was alreay there while he was still full time, and Elegido was brought in to be “the new” Latin Lover. If anything they don’t need the immitator when they have the real thing.

Lover’s departure from AAA has few concerned about the box office. I can’t think of any memorable promos, feuds, or huge gates that can be attributed to Lover in the main.

Tim, actually Latin is a bigger draw than Cibernetico. Cibernetico is a no-star who is being shoved down people’s throats by Konnan the same way Russo shoved Jeff Jarrett down people’s throats. Back in the dying WCW Jeff Jarrett was the “main man” on paper but he sure as hell wasn’t a bigger draw than Hulk Hogan.
