Projected Air Date (#824)
MEX: 02/24
US: 03/15

Decnnis and Scorpio Jr. appeared to be the least likely winners of the opener, so they won. It appears to be “first TEAM to escape” rules. It sounds as though Charly and Chessman had a chance to win the match, but didn’t care (again) and sticked around to beat up Halloween and Tiger. Cibernetico joined in after the match, causing Familia de Tijuana to be strechered out. Perhaps Nicho had a point.

Cibernetico did a speech earlier, which could be distilled to “I’m coming back” and “I’m still feuding with Mesias.” Yay?

Zorro won clean, AGAIN, this time over Intocable. Psycho Clowns are now listed as 40 wins (some double shots this week?) but surely have to worry about being eclipsed.

Abismo Negro and Mr. Niebla’s chain match was a bloody mask ripping affair. Abismo won this time as well, but Prez Roldan one again intruded. This time, he didn’t suggest having another match next week, he just declared Mr. Niebla the leader of the match despite losing. There’s clearly something not getting across here, because this sounds like the dumbest angle ever with everyone looking worse for being involved. Abismo may be joining the Foreign Legion now.

After Fabi won the opener, pinning Mari despite Gran Apache’s interference, Billy Boy brought out flowers and a mariachi band to win her back because of their recent issues. Fabi slapped him, so I guess Billy needs a better idea. Not sure why Billy didn’t end up wrestling in the segunda. Espiritu did appear, distracting the referee to set up the finish.

  1. Naturally Billy Boy couldn’t work b/c of his BROKEN HEART!:( He did the angle in his gear so I’m sure they’ll do a TV skit where he refuses to come out. Maybe he’s gonna play emo-Billy Boy again? Perhaps a new mysterious masked rudo will show up to team with Apache again, his name will be Fighterman? Or maybe the greatest thing ever will occur – Billy Boy will be so depressed that he’ll have a breakdown and think it’s 1999 all over again and he’ll start wrestling as Luigi Boy or if we’re lucky… Spice Boy Billy!

Abismo/Niebla match looks like it will be fun. Abismo was gushing blood big time.

The main event result is sure quite surprising. I like when you can’t predict who is going to win. It does clear up some things for Rey De Reyes though…

    1. Manson/Chessman will be part of the team facing whichever foreigners Konnan manages to bring in.

    2. Elegido/Intocable will be your 3/1 winners.

2/23 better be one of those last-minute booked taping which produces a ton of fun randomness like the return of Path Finder, the new Kumbias debuting a few weeks early, random new mini’s and/or a random Fuerza Aerea reuniting to face the returning ESPANTAPAJAROS team!

  2. If CMLL started late at 9pm on FSE, blame a fan from Argentina who got caught climbing a barbed wire fence at a soccer game. Took :15 minutes to get him down, and everything else started late on FSE after that.

I’ve been watching 5 Magnificos. Strange seeing Aguila with that huge bandage on his stomach on television. Creepy. Dos Caras, Sombra and Sagrado were also on. Dos came off like a heel, while Sagrado and Sombra have the carisma of a paint chip.

AAA was great today. Abismo cut the promo of his life on Niebla. And he didn’t need hair spray and a lighter to do it. That’s what wrestling is all about-making fans want to see guys settle an issue in the ring, even if they’re not the best workers in the world. I think fans want to see Niebla vs. Abismo.

  3. And why can’t Perla Negra be part of the Pirates? She has the look to be a star.

I’m also thinking that as Psycho Circus gets closer to 100 wins, the Payasos may emerge to challenge Psycho Circus.

Could Niebla be shopping his mask around?

  4. Maybe Perla ain’t that good… they could still use them as a valet but who knows… I think that Mr Niebla vs Abismo Negro was the kind of match fans wanted to see from Ultimo/Wagner/Bucanero/Mistico/Aguayo et al from the series of singles CMLL is teasing for some time… the crowd was not that hot but popped reasonably well (I’m talking about the Mexican airing) which might mean they were feeling some tension.

I don’t think it would be wise for AAA to try to buy Niebla’s mask, it would be too risky, Niebla would jump to CMLL even faster than LA Park for a mediocre offer. But it is still interesting how it will turn out, now they have 3 angles running (4 counting Payasos), Apaches, Vipers and Chessman vs Halloween, I wonder if Rey de Reyes will have a resolution for any of them.

  5. As far as I’m aware, Perla just appeared for a photo shoot. She isn’t a wrestler.

I think Rey De Reyes will just be more angle advancing. They’ll be giving away enough with a new Rey De Reyes and the foreigners coming in.

  6. Valet would be good enough for Perla Negra. She’s really got that look and might make Piratas seem more interesting.

I hope there’s tv the day after Rey de Reyes. Bullring in Nuevo Laredo is long overdue, and it’s a “Monday” town.

I don’t see Halloween vs. Chessman being resolved, nor do I see Niebla vs. ‘bismo(as Niebla called him) ending soon. Chessman vs Halloween could go to a hair match by Mania or GdT.

Did CMLL leave Arena Pachuca for good?

  7. 2/23 lineup has FINALLY arrived!

CHIVA, GATO EVEREADY Y ARGENIS VS. PIRATAS: PIRATA MORGAN JR., HIJO DE PIRATA MORGAN Y BARBA ROJA

Now THAT’S the kind of lineup I enjoy from AAA. Fun random opener, FUERZA AEREA, group vs group in a fresh match and some freshness up top. What’s with Mascara Divina getting a big push into the semi-main? Ain’t complaining, just curious. Does X-Pac’s rehab include working AAA shows?:)

This, the 3/1 card and the 3/5 card have me excited about AAA again.

I guess the final Rey De Reyes team will be decided on 3/9.

  8. Oh, hang on a second. ByL says the first *four* guys to escape the cage on 3/1 are in the Rey De Reyes. So I guess Elegido, Intocable, Suzuki and Electro are going in.

  9. I think the article in Box y Lucha accompanying those Perla Negra Pirate Family photos said she’s a wrestler or training to be one. She looks like a little fireplug. But that article is already a year or so old, so we would’ve heard something about her career by now, if she was working.

Texcoco must be an outdoor show at the Lienzo Charro where all the big Mexican bands have their concerts. AAA has done tv from there before.

  10. Ultimo Gladiador is such an indie-level name. Should’ve been caught before he made tv.

  11. CMLL did start on time and went complete.

If they changed Ultimo Gladiador’s name, they’d give up the vast drawing power. (Actually, it’s probably where they’re most missing Pena.)

Arena Aficion de Pachuca hasn’t gotten CMLL talent since Halloween, so something happened there.

  12. Has Santo worked that Arena? My first guess is that CMLL is charging more money than what the local guys can make at the gate, therefore they’re not using their guys anymore (same thing goes for IWRG).

  13. That was my guess too, and I thought I remembered something like that, but I couldn’t find the result.

  14. AAA Guanajuato crowd was huge. Puebla looked like only 2,500 in pictures on Gladiadores.com but I blame the venue. Don’t know why AAA left the Gym/Auditorio in Puebla.

Doina should be a heel valet against Ciber.

I’m thinking Crazzy Boy is a bad influence on Lider. I’d like to see Lider develop his technical skills this year. Luckily he’s no longer feuding with Halloween in the MP vs. TJ feud. No good for Chessman.

Does anyone know what angles CMLL ran to reunite Bucanero/Ultimo Guerrero/Atlantis?

  15. Spice Boy Billy, Rob? LOL!

Well it seems everything is everything again. Fabi hates Billy again, why I am wondering who or anyone knows?

Ciber came back, and helped put an ass whipping on fDt. Yep all is well in AAA Land, for now.

And am I the only one who sees Zorro turning back technico in the coming months?

  16. The angle after the opener was awesome. Crowd went CRAZY when Billy Boy came out with his mariachi band. They chanted ‘beso’ and just as it looked like it’d happen, Fabi walked away and the crowd boo’ed big time. Gran Apache got in the ring and began laughing at Billy Boy who took his guitar and smashed it over Apache!

  17. LM F’N AO! The clowns grabbed a kid from the crowd and tried to stuff him in their bag! Good save by security!

  18. Is it safe to have kept Cuije in that bag for almost 5 minutes? I hope they at least punched holes in it.

  19. So that sucks. I hope he never gets programmed again.:D

2008 Rob wants to visit 2005 Rob and tell him that in 3 years AAA will not be airing matches involving flyers while CMLL will be airing multiple mini’s matches per week.
