02/09: Mexico, CMLL’s next major show, Rey de Reyes, lineups, GdR

Reforma says the first major show of the CMLL year, Homenaje a Dos Leyendas, will take place on 03/21. They’re honoring Lutteroth and Black Shadow again this year.

CMLL (FRI) 02/08 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, superluchas, Reforma, Notimex, ESTO]
1) Apocalipsis & Ramstein b Ángel Azteca Jr. & Sombra de Plata
2) Dark Angel, Goddess, Marcela b Amapola, Hiroka, Rosa Negra
3) La Máscara, Sagrado, Último Dragón b Diamante Negro, Ephesto, Virus
4) Blue Panther, Grey Shadow, La Sombra b Black Warrior, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca
5) Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Héctor Garza, Mephisto b Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Perro, Averno, and Mephisto turned on Hector Garza, after he and Perro accidentally kicked each other thru the second falls. (Irrelevant WWA Tag Titles already? That’s a new record.) Perros still managed to win the main event in two falls, then beat up Hector so he was strechered out. It’s not clear if Hector is going tecnico or if Perro’s just splitting the group.

Not a lot to say about the rest of the show. Attendence was down, which shouldn’t be a surprise.

Arturo Rivera‘s column mentions Mesias’ return in March.

CMLL (TUE) 02/12 Arena Mexico
1) Sombra de Plata & Trueno vs Angel Perverso & Ciber Black
2) Godess, Luna Mágica, Sahori vs Amapola, La Seductora, Rosa Negra
3) Fabián el Gitano, Mictlán, Stuka Jr. vs Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico
4) La Máscara, Mictlán, Valiente vs Ephesto, Misterioso II, Virus
5) Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Shocker vs Damián 666, Mr. Águila, Terrible

This is Sahori’s return from knee surgery.

CMLL (FRI) 02/15 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Metálico vs Pólvora & Vaquero
2) Bam Bam, Pequeño Olímpico, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Black Warrior, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Heavy Metal, Máximo, Sagrado vs Misterioso II, Shigeo Okumura, Virus
4) Alex Koslov, La Sombra, Marco Corelone vs Damián 666, Héctor Garza, Terrible
5) Grey Shadow, Místico, Volador Jr. vs Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mephisto

Hector teams with the other Perros, so we’ll see what the deal is. I don’t think they could be pushing Grey Shadow much harder.

CMLL.com mentions they’re going to start doing tours of the city for people coming to Mexico City on vacation.

LA Park explains to Reforma that’s he’s not a jerk, it’s everyone in wresting who’s a jerk and that’s why he’s not friends with any of them. He only cares about his wife, his children, and his credit card.

AAA’s Dos De Tres magazine features Abismo Negro on the cover. Marco Rivera says AAA’s confirmed Scott Steiner and Teddy Hart to return for Rey de Reyes and have talked to Booker T and Kevin Nash. The Wrestling Observer mentioned they talked to RVD as well, but Van Dam wrestling seems incredibly unlikely considering his recent comments. Eddie Guerrero will go into the AAA Hall Of Fame. I can already tell I hate the tournament this year, that’s a bit annoying.

CMLL CAN52 Guerreros del Ring #115 has
02/03 Coliseo: Dr. X, Hooligan, Skandalo b Astro Boy, Metálico, Tony Rivera
02/03 Coliseo: LA Park, Místico, Negro Casas b Atlantis, Black Warrior, Mephisto
no outside the ring.

The correct lucha times page is up now.

  1. Shit – random week for GdR opting to show the Coliseo segunda instead of the Arena Mex segunda, and sure enough, it is when the Arena Mex match with Stuka and Los Infernales looked better. All the more frustrating because it will be back to the usual next week when the coliseo segunda looks great as there’s no way, absolutely no way in hell that they’ll show Metalico,Neutron,Astro Boy V Dr X,Comando,Holligan instead of a bunch of women from Arena Mex.

Ah well, at least it’s a rare sighting of Hooligan and Dr Eckeees if nothing else, but in the tecnicos, there’s not much for them to work with (an increasingly common theme as of late in CMLL lower/mid card booking) :(

Generally very poor cards all round next week too, and added to tomorrows top 3 taped for GdR & FSE, will surely be an awful weekend of TV. Out of 11 matches, there is precisely ONE that i am interested in, that of course being the Arena Mex main. Obviously the mini’s is pretty cool too, but if that airs, it probably won’t be for a fortnight.

Tuesdays card for cadenaTres is especially disappointing. Being a women-free zone for it’s first couple of months, i was kinda getting my hopes up that it was intentional – maybe the channel didn’t allow the portrayal of female violence or something like that – but obviously not, as they’re managed to barge their way into the Tuesday undercarders/minis spot now. :(

The tercera and semi are a couple of good tecnicos away from a surefire decent match, but at the end of the day, no matter how good a rudo is, you just aren’t going to get much out of the likes of Fabian, Mictlan, La Mascara, Maximo, Heavy Metal, Felino (on a coliseo show) etc…

All in all, pretty poor for the coming week. Lets just hope the segunda and tercera on cadenaTres tonight deliver and live up to the expectations.

  2. Good good they are stuffing Romero down everyone’s throats faster than Sagrado. And the reviews of his work so far have been less than positive to say the least. Every booking he has is the spot La Sombra should have.

Nothing looks too hot at Arena Mexico last night.

“Attendence was down, which shouldn’t be a surprise.”

It should to the bookers since you’re supposed to pop a better crowd the week after a major turn, never mind TWO major turns over the few weeks and one more happening last night.

Next week Cadena Tres looks weak.

Next Friday is a mixed bag. Good to see Metalico where he belongs based on his performances on TV lately. Mini’s in the segunda is so odd only b/c there is no Mascarita Dorada. These guys never used to get segundas like this. I’d be excited for it airing on GdR but then I saw what aired today.:/ Hopefully Grey Shadow bombs again and they give up on that experiment fast. Or he magically turns into a great wrestler but it’s Rocky Romero so that’s impossible.

AAA Feb. 15th TV lineup is on the AAA website in the carteleras section.

I’ll be watching Cadena Tres during the third period of today’s blowout.

  3. You’ll have to keep us updated since I’ve been unable to connect. I assume women and top two though.

  4. I should of went to the website earlier. Luckily, this week show sounds passable. Plus, the CADS show is on now.

  5. Fun match, but nowhere near as good as some of the high-end mini’s matches we’ve over the last few months.

Celestial was impressive, but Electrico didn’t look so hot with those 2 botches in the segunda caida. I enjoy that rudo trio even though they’re not so innovative and spectacular as La Pequeno Familia. Fire seems real good.

  6. Just looked into my crystal ball. Watch Purpura and Flash mail this one in as Stuka works for 3 :D

  7. Yeah, the mini’s match wasn’t so hot. Electrico came off as REALLY green with some simple botches. Celestial also seemed pretty green but it was covered up. Rudos definitely stole the show and Peq Olimpico was solid as always.

  8. I’m glad I saw the beatdown on Hector Garza. I actually thought it was effective….for now.

  9. yeah, the infierno’s/Stuka spot was fresh and kinda cool. And Virus Killed Purpura :D

The match as a whole wasn’t up to much though.

Who has the stomach to endure this next match? :D

  10. If it was better quality I could have put that Virus/Purpura finish on my youtube page. Oh well.

  11. Man Metal is just sad to watch. It’s good that he’s going back to AAA. Maybe he can get stuck in the Mexican Powers/Familia De Tijuana crap.

Main event is great. Wagner is still the man and Bucanero as a rudo just feels right.

  12. Amen on Buccanero being a Rudo again.

Is it me or is Perrito stuck in WCW circa 1998 and the new World order?

Well that raises his stock in earth doesn’t it? LOL!
