02/02: Mexico, lineups, AAA tapings, GdR

CMLL (FRI) 02/01 Arena Mexico [SuperLuchas, ESTO, manslipkorn]
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Neutrón b Calígula & Méssala
2) Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico b Mascara Purpura, Mictlán, Stuka Jr.
3) Blue Panther, La Máscara, Shocker b Misterioso II, Mr. Águila, Villano V
4) Grey Shadow, LA Park, Místico b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Héctor Garza, Terrible
5) Averno & Mephisto b Atlantis & Último Guerrero [CMLL TAG]

Challengers won the first fall, champions won the second. Mephisto and Atlantis were eliminated from the final fall, but Mephisto snuck in to foul UG, and Averno covered for the title change. Main event falls went 6.5 minutes, 2.5 minutes and 35 (!) minutes.

After the match, Perro Aguayo Jr. showed up to recruit Averno & Mephisto to join Perros del Mal. Superluchas and Ovaciones says they accepted. ESTO says they did not. Based on next week’s lineup, I’m thinking they’ve accepted at least for now. Where does this leave Ephesto?

Averno’s now a three belt champion, holding the tag titles and both middleweight titles.

Tecnicos won the semimain in straight falls. Mistico was said to have a bad night and Grey Shadow didn’t make a huge impression. It soumds as though his flying moves were good but he needs to work on his brawling. Perro and Hector seem to have brought their newly won WWA Tag Team belts here. Maybe Averno & Mepisto can win those too.

CMLL (TUE) 02/05 Arena Mexico

4) Alex Koslov, Heavy Metal, Último Dragón vs Olímpico, Sangre Azteca, Universo 2000
5) Dos Caras Jr., Dr. Wagner Jr., Valiente vs Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero

That tercera looks pretty fun.

CMLL (FRI) 02/08 Arena Mexico
1) Ángel Azteca Jr. & Sombra de Plata vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Dark Angel, Goddess, Marcela vs Amapola, Hiroka, Rosa Negra
3) La Máscara, Sagrado, Último Dragón vs Diamante Negro, Ephesto, Virus
4) Blue Panther, Grey Shadow, La Sombra vs Black Warrior, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca
5) Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Héctor Garza, Mephisto vs Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

Neutron’s injury looked brutal. It would not be a surprise if he’s out for a while, but I haven’t heard any updates.

  1. It’s been months since I’ve had a chance to watch CMLL on Saturday. I know where to find Cadena Tres, but can anyone throw me a link where I can see the ArMex Friday show today?

  2. If that third fall really went 35 minutes (I’m thinking typo and the match went 35), there is NO WAY it airs full on television. Last week’s third fall of the tag match was like 15+ and it seemed like they were dying to go to commercial already.

Cadena Tres Tuesday lineup looks GREAT! I can’t wait to see the first full match of Celestial and Electrico! That tercera could be off the charts great if everyone is in top form.

Friday is a passable show that looks to be more interesting based on angles than actual workrate. Goddess didn’t look too hot in her photos so hopefully she’s at least a good wrestler and not in the company for “other reasons”.

AAA 2/1 results are up here: http://www.boxylucha.com/foro/viewtopic.php?t=34201

Shame about Neutron’s injury. Obviously we hope he gets better but also sucks that a rare Coliseo segunda that airs has to be messed up due to an injury.:/ That main event though… holy awfulness.

  3. One of the guys at ByL said third fall went for 20 minutes, but who knows. Even then, I’m guessing it won’t make it full on TV.

  4. The CMLL show just started and the XEJ feed is still working for me. And the tag title match will be airing.

  5. Blank screen for me too, with 3 white dots in the top left hand corner. Same last week.

Is it segunda and top 2, or top 3?

  6. I finally got through. Gotta keep loading it and it’ll go through when someone drops off the server I guess.

  7. Can someone post those AAA results for those of us who don’t know enough Spanish to sign up for the boxylucha forums?

  8. Cubs will have them up later I’m sure. Only major details were Billy Boy accidentally hit Fabi with a chair in the opener so she came out and returned the favor on purpose in the segunda.

Morishima/Marufuji helped AAA fight off the Legion in the main event.

Konnan promised a big surprise for Parka and AAA soon. I’m guessing he is gonna show them the pill he takes to remain in the year 1996.

  9. The opener was fun

For the XEJ feed, just keep trying and trying. I started at 3:50, and just kept refreshing the page until it came.

  10. Predictable opener. La Mascara at least used a new spot I liked… back when Rey Jr. did it regularly.

For some reason they announced Ultimo Dragon in the Tuesday main event instead of Valiente.

  11. What was it?

I gave up, was refreshing like an idiot for over half an hour to no avail.

CadenaTres it is for me :)

  12. He got a running start, jumped off the second rope and turned into a flying headscissors (not frankensteiner) to take Villano down. Simple but rarely seen.

  13. That running somersault plancha was just as fugly as Rocky Romero’s but I don’t want to completely judge him yet.

  14. LMAO They edited out Shadow’s entire exchange. He must have been pretty awful. Another sign it’s Rocky.;)

  15. The funny thing is that Rocky Romero was on the NWA showcase this week wrestling in front of 20 fans.

Henrik is you still having trouble with the feed?

  16. Yeah, but CadenaTres is on so it’s no biggie. :)

Main show sounds like it kinda sucks this week anyway. I guess you can put Grey Shadow down as a dud right away – if it is Rocky Romero i’ve never enjoyed his work anyway, whether as himself, as a Habana Brother or as Black Tiger IV :)

And although i’m interested in it, i’m not all that keen on an all rudos 30 minute match even if it is 2 of the best teams. :)

The CadenTres opener was REEEALLY shitty! Los Rebeldes had a couple of neat double teams and actually worked ok as a team – but the tecnicos done NOTHING. Nitro got a 3 count in the first caida even though he got up and walked away at 1 – but the ref kept counting anyway! :D

And Molotov won the 2nd caida with his very first involvement of the match – a pointless forward roll into a back elbow of death. And the 3rd was just a waste of everybody’s time. You’d think these guys of all people would be out to impress in a rare tv appearance.

  17. He got a running start, jumped off the second rope and turned into a flying headscissors (not frankensteiner) to take Villano down. Simple but rarely seen.

Meh, Jimmy Neutron used to hit those from the 2nd rope inside the ring to the outside :-p

  18. Third fall had two obvious edited and was clipped down to 12 minutes of mostly non-action. Very disapointing.

  19. Strong rumors that Heavy Metal is joining AAA at Rey De Reyes. Weird that CMLL would keep booking him if that’s the case. I hope he goes though since it’ll give someone better a chance to work higher on CMLL shows instead of the washed up druggie.

  20. I couldn’t catch the show (actually both), so what happened? It seems that the comment count for the weekend vanished.

Did they join Perros? I think if they do, it might last, lately, PdM has been booked as real rudos, but they suck at being rudos, so it would make sense to have Averno and Mephisto to carry the workload.

  21. Perrito came out to congratulate them on their win, they all shook hands and raised each other’s hands. I wonder if this means Averno/Mephisto have to change their colors now.

Stupid XEJ won’t connect for AAA.

  22. XEJ finally connected but it’s only 2pm on the screen. What gives? Yesterday for CMLL at this time it was 3pm. So confusing.

  23. Heavy Metal returing is good for AAA. He belongs there. I can see him in a big feud against Electro or Zorro or Guapos VIP.

All Metal did on FSE tonight was nail Sangre Azteca with a stiff baseball slide outside the ring. Leono and Sagrado did all the work.

Sangre Azteca came off like a star walking down the aisle with the belt.
