AAA Mini Line - 09/08/07 (#641)
Recapped: 09/09/07-09/22/07

Interview: Mascarita Divina talks about the next match. It seems like they're doing this interview in the bathroom. I have no idea why.

Match 1: Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Histeria vs Mascarita Divina, Octagoncito
Auditorio Jose Maria Artega de Queretaro, 08/03/07

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 9:39
Notes: Mini Histeria is listed as plain ol' Histeria on the graphic. They're not that close in height. Unanswerable question: Why does Octagoncito's video have highlights of the Mexican Powers. Standard match; rudos launch into a beatdown early, tecnicos make their comeback at 4:00. The comeback isn't hot moves, but mask untying and they both come off for seconds - both Mini Vipers have shaved heads. There's an in-match break, which we haven't been seeing much of lately, at the 5 minute mark. Divina sends Histeria out and follow s with a slingshot tope con giro. Mini Abismo hits the ropes on his way thru, but makes it for another on the tope. Octagoncito goes last and hits the springboard tornillo. Vipers bring it back in the ring fro some near falls on Octagoncito. They try to finish him with a middle rope 'rana/frog splash combo, but Divina cuts off Abismo's splash with a missile dropkick. That was interesting. It wasn't  perfect execution, but it was quite a collision. Abismo and Divina end up getting inside cradles at the same time for pins, and Pepe Casa tells them to keep going. Mini Abismo can barely get Divina up on a powerbomb, and it only gets two. Divina ducks a clothesline off a whip, sends Abismo out with a spinning headscissors, and follows with a tope - Divina hit him so high, and bounced off Abismo to his feet. Pepe Casas turns away to tell Octagoncito to get off the apron, Vipers switched masks again, and Mini Histeria pins Mascarita Divina with a German suplex for the win. Histeria is smart enough to slip back outside quick to confuse the issue. Mini Histeria and Mini Abismo's gear (and masks) are more alike then ever, which is the idea.

Interview: Jesus talk to Elegido and Intocable, who are wrestling much later.

Vignette: Fuerza Aerea is at an AIRport in front of an AIRplane. High concept. Lots of highlights from last week. Thank god Cometa has the star back on his chest - also, this week they're all wearing different colored outfits, which helps more. I note that it's Pegasso, Rey Cometa, Super Fly and Aero Star - where's Laredo Kid?

Match 2: Cuervo, Escoria, Espiritu, Toxico AAA vs Aero Star, Pegasso, Rey Cometa, Super Fly
Auditorio Jose Maria Artega de Queretaro, 08/03/07

Winner: Tecnicos (by DQ)
Match Time: 6:57
Notes: TOXICO has an entrance video? Well, no, just his name there. The gas mask and has mat suit is a nice touch.  Sect all have their belts, and Espiritu is especially into his skull on a cross. Break before the match gets started. Hijo de Tirantes is referee. If captains are announced, I totally miss it, and yet we've got some dead standing around after the break. Tecnico showcase for the first couple of minutes (Aero Star and Rey Cometa look especially good here), and a sudden clip to the beatdown segment - how odd. Beatdown is nothing much and we only see two minutes of it before Cometa moves out of the way of a corner charge and starts the comeback all by himself. Dive train: Rey Cometa top rope tornillo, Toxico Asai Moonsault, (stall while Toxico realizes he's way out of position and Aero Star isn't ready either), Aero Star's springboard reverse tope, Espiritu top rope plancha, Pegasso half twist no hands plancha, Escoria top rope corkscrew moonsault, Super Fly handspring moonsault dive. Aero Star and Toxico and up back in the ring, and Toxico kills Aero with a side back piledriver thingamajig. Top rope senton con giro misses, Aero Star goes up, Shooting Star Press is as misaligned as always (mostly overshooting Toxico), one two - Dark Family pull him off and crotch him on the post in one motion. Rudos have the numbers and stomp down Aero and Super Fly while keeping out Cometa and Pegasso. Hijo de Tirantes tries to get involved, and he's shoved away, which gives Hijo de Tirantes tease a DQ. Dark Family presses Cometa out of the ring and onto Rey Cometa - and Hijo de Tirantes immediately DQs the rudos and raises Aero Star's arm. Rudos stomp the heck out of Aero Star in response.

What was interesting there was not just Hijo de Tirantes actually DQing someone instead of just teasing it, but the announcers immediately pointing it was a DQ to a press a guy out over the top rope, instead of being shocked and confused. They treated it more like it was a foul than a weird technicality and it made the (still somewhat weak) finish seem stronger than usual. After the match, all the dives got replayed, which was nice.

Match 3: Alfa, Gran Apache (c), Fabi Apache vs Cinthia Moreno, Laredo Kid (c), Oriental
Auditorio Jose Maria Artega de Queretaro, 08/03/07

Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 9:21
Notes: Cinthia and Oriental have the tag belts.

Lots of work with the two mixed tag teams thru out - they work guy vs girl early, then as teams later on. Laredo and Gran Apache are basically working their own match. Beatdown at 3', break during the beatdown, comeback at 5:30 when Oriental reveres a toss into a dropkick on Fabi and Alfa. Rudos are very good as a team. Morenos do a stereo walking the rope spot and La Majistral as the part of their comeback, and get slow counted by Copetes. Alfa and Fabi almost get bumped into each other again, just like TripleMania, but stop short of the kiss - an then Alfa kisses her anyway! They're immediately inside cradled before they can react, not that it matters with Copetes still slow counting. Alfa gets Oriental in abdominal submission, but helpfully moves out of the way as Cinthia Moreno gives Fabi the farmers roll. Laredo Kid and Gran Apache come in to break it up and take over for a bit. Laredo tries a top rope tope con giro but it doesn't look quite right. Oriental gets Alfa with a kinda slingshot tope con giro, and Cinthia gets in her silla on Fabi. This leads back to Laredo and Gran Apache. Laredo suplexes Apache and goes up for the splash, but Apache breaks it up and presses him to the center of the ring. Apache's top rope senton con giro hits, and he hits the double underhook faceslam for good measure. Copetes starts to slow count him - who is Copetes supposed to be favoring here? He's just a random jerk! - so Apache slaps him in the head. Apache goes for the crucifix powerbomb on Laredo, Laredo reverses to a 'rana, Copetes speed counts and we're done. Does AAA really need rudo referees? This finish would've gone smoother if they didn't have invent an excuse for him to fast count anyone.

Vignette: Alan Stone is lifting weights in the gym. Ah, we're explaining how Super Calo is teaming up with his brother. Zumbido is late arriving but does know the secret handshake. Where's Scorpio? Well, he's still not here, but Guapito shows up and says they don't need Scorpio with him around. Guapito starts ordering the guys around and they don't seem to be listening to him as much with no Scorpio around. Hmmm.

Match 4: Alan Stone, Super Calo, Zumbido vs Crazy Boy, Extreme Tiger, Joe Lider
Auditorio Jose Maria Artega de Queretaro, 08/03/07

Winner: Guapos
Match Time: 7:49
Other Match Notes: You'd think Calo would keep wearing the hat and the sunglasses, even though he doesn't have the mask. Well, I'd think. He's got other sunglasses, but kinda just seems like a random guy. Mexican Powers have their tag belts.

Match starts off with Super Calo appealing for a low blow for quite a bit. Edit, though they could've jumped in about 30 seconds better and gotten less of a cold start. Zumbido/Crazy. Guapito got involved, got kicked a bit, and that started the beatdown. Alan's springboard splash still looks good, too bad he can't use it for a win anymore in these one fall matches. Guapos bring the chairs in - you knew someone went. Lider takes a backdrop onto two chairs. Extreme Tiger makes his own dropkick-rific comeback, climaxing with being thrown out of the ring but getting an armdrags on Zumbido. Super Calo takes a Crazy Boy/Joe Lider assisted flying DDT. Crazy Boy tries to tope Alan, but Alan throws a chair at him while he goes thru the ropes. Joe Lider charges Super Calo and gets backdrop to the floor - I think he's supposed to take out (/be caught by) Alan Stone, but Alan isn't ready and Lider doesn't get caught. Hijo de Tirantes leaves the ring to check on him and comes back in quick, so I guess he's okay. Calo hits a slingshot senton onto Crazy. Zumbido and Extreme Tiger end up back in, Extreme Tiger his the inverted 'rana an then spends time setting up furniture instead of trying for a win off his finisher. Ah, light bulb tubes, the international sign of something stupid about to happen.

Tiger sets up two chairs standing a little ways from each other, so they can hold the tubes. Tiger then drags Zumbido so he's laying on the mat underneath tubes, but it's not like the tubes are on top of him. Extreme Tiger's plan is to moonsault the light bulb tubes, crashing thru them all on his own, and then land on Zumbido after. Maybe some of the glass will fall on him. How stupid of a plan is that? Super Calo stops Extreme Tiger before he can try this, and Zumbido ends up giving Extreme Tiger a powerbomb thru the bulbs (though Tiger tried to reverse it with a 'rana - that would actually made sense.) Zumbido pins Tiger for the win.

They don't stop there. Lider in the spinebuster in the dust of the tubes - Lider was wearing a top, but he's pulled it down so he can get his back all cut up - and then Zumbido cracks another light tube over Lider's head. Guapos celebrate as Lider is tended to.

Vignette: Jesus Z catches up to Mr. Niebla outside the gym. Niebla starts dancing - I guess the idea is he can dance better than they can dance.

Match 5: Antifaz, Histeria, Mr. Niebla (c) vs Elegido, Intocable, Zorro (c)
Auditorio Jose Maria Artega de Queretaro, 08/03/07

Winner: Tecnicos by DQ
Match Time: 13:29
Other Match Notes: Vipers get separate introductions. The AAA entrance videos need to include video of the actual guys getting introduced. I think this would be a positive. Elegido has a sword. No, a metal one. I'm not sure what happens here, but there's a long shot of his entrance for quite some time.

Vipers jump the tecnicos at the whistle. Beatdown isn't as good as usual for the Vipers - Niebla's looking better, but he doesn't have chemistry with the other two still - there's a couple occasions where tandem spots don't happen because they're not on the same page. Intocable makes his comeback at about 3:45. Lots of brawling out near the fans. Break in here. Tecnico showcases from there. Niebla is put off by Intocable's dance moves, tells Intocable to check out his rump shaking, Intocable looks down and Niebla slaps him upside the head. Antifaz gets a hold of Zorr's cane during his bit, and just ends up hitting his partners and himself. That cane is dangerous. Histeria tries to do Elegido's dance moves, which does not fair well. Lots of miscommunication spots with the Vipers and Elegido. Crowd shot with the women cheering, so that must've been a trunks pull in there. Did Antifaz get a new ab tattoo or did I just not notice that before. Intocable doesn't look good in the ring here. He does a weak tope, Elegido does a pescado (they cleverly set it up so it looks like he's going to do a big dive but has to change plans when Niebla moves.) Histeria tries to finish off Zorro with a quebrada moonsault but Zorro gets his knees up. Zorro sets up for a leg lock on Histeria, Pepe Casas chooses this moment to look away, and random unnamed Viper runs in, kicking Zorro in the back to break it up. He's out just as quick. Zorro tries a La Majistral, but let's go because he sees Mystery Viper jump back in the ring. Pepe Casas sees the intruder, but Zorro superkicks Mystery Viper before he can get more involved. Histeria uses the distraction to stomp down Zorro, and all four Vipers - including the new guy, comes in to help. Pepe Cass sees that and calls for the DQ. Hey, Zorro won a match. (Sorta) On the other hand, they introduce a new guy and can't even get him the win.

New Guy has a Histeria/Abismo combo mask. Tecnicos make a random comeback after the match, so the rudos beat down again. This goes on far too long. I keep waiting for a name to be put on the new game, but I hear anything. It's indy guy Escorpion Negro, for what it's wroth.

Match 6: Kenzo Suzuki, Mesias (c), Ozz vs Charly Manson, Chessman, Cibernetico (c)
Auditorio Jose Maria Artega de Queretaro, 08/03/07

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 15:33
Other Match Notes: Ozz has his Atomicos belt. Charly has his Mexican title. Cibernetico has his IWC Title. If you are a woman, in the front row and you put a message on your chest, you will get on AAA TV a lot.

Rudos jump the tecnicos. After Charly takes his turn thru the blender, he goes to the back and gets a massive amount of chairs. This immediately backfires on him. Copetes lets the chairs go. Cibernetico sidesteps corner charges after Chessman and Charly have taken the full set, and that starts the comeback after about five minutes. Lots of chair bits with Ozz. Mesias bails on locking up with Cibernetico, of course. Standard match between these sides. Manson gets Kenzo in a reverse figure four once, Kenzo makes the ropes, Manson does it again a bit later and gets the submission, with no one rushing in to break it up. Huh. Ozz beats Charly with the Canadian Destroyer to make it 2-2. Chessman immediately spears Ozz and pins him, which should end the match, but it's different rules this week for no particular reason. Chessman lays chairs on the mat and tries to superplex Mesias on them, but of course Mesias blocks it. Mesias tries to sunset flip bomb Chessman on the chairs, but actually lands on more of them himself. Close enough for the pin.

So we're down to Cibernetico and Mesias, and Cibernetico takes off Mesias' head from behind with a clothesline. Mesias so wasn't ready for that. Cibernetico waits for him to get up, and spears him. Not as much reaction for that as I figured. Cibernetico waits for Mesias to get up again, but misses a charge and gets speared himself. How many spears are we going to get? They both get up at about the same time and throw punches. Cibernetico eventually gets the best of the punches, off the ropes, clothesline and they're both down. Double two count spot, but we're looking at the crowd. Mesias up first with punches, off the ropes, Cibernetico kicks him, stunners him, and then gives him another stunner before he fell down. Pin, but Copetes isn't even bothering to slow count, looking at the Dark Family run to the ring instead. Charly Manson counts the pin, which is utterly pointless but whatever. This does alert Cibernetico people are running in and so he stops covering, and they stop outside the ring. Looks like the Vipers are out there too, and while Cibernetico and Copetes look and yell at them, Mesias is getting up with a chair in hand. Cibernetico turns to face it, chair to the head, one two three.

All the rudos hit the ring and stomp all the tecnicos. Zorro out for the save, and despite the overwhelming numbers, just Zorro and his cane scares people away. Rudos celebrate in the aisle. Dueling promo time. Mesias has Cibernetico and Zorro's title belt. Replays and we're done. There's music credits in the show ending video package, which is new.

That's it.
