CMLL CAN52 GdR - 09/01/07 (#93)
Recapped: 09/03/07

Intro: Terrible is with the announcers as we see the opener. This is the closest the Mini Familia de Tijuana come to getting on TV since that hair feud wrapped up. They've still got short hair. Felino makes cat noises.

Reoccurring Feature: As seen in Luchas 2000, older wrestlers talk about Dr. Wagner. This must've been done the same time as they did the el Diseno for Canek and Lizmark, because it's the same shoot. Canek's the interview subject for most of this show - he talks about the 2005 four way mask match with Rayo, Universo and Wagner Jr. after Wagner Sr.'s death, among other things. We hear from El Halcon later on.

Match 1: Euforia, Loco Max (c), Nosferatu vs Leono (c), Neutron, Valiente
Arena Mexico, 08/24/07

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:07
Approx Rating: Good, though not memorable so
Other Match Notes: No entrances. We're going to be testing my new theory: Leono as captain = LOSS

1: Loco Max is the one guy I could imagine starting the match by laying on the mat cowering from his opponent, but I think it's more likely to be a clip. So we skip him and Leono and move onto Valiente/Nosferatu, who do basic chain stuff (once they get past some initial difficulties.) Euforia and Neutron, and Euforia looks about eight feet tall with the rest of this crew. Neutron looks good against Euforia, including a nice walk up the ropes moonsault escape and a running up the ropes headscissors to end it, but has this odd hitch before each more, as if he has to wait for an acknowledgement to go on rather than trust Euforia will be ready. As soon as Euforia's sent out, and Neutron's doing his fake dive pose, Loco and Nosferatu clear him out, then moves out of the way of springboard dropkicks from the other two tecnicos. Nosferatu spears Valiente well and good, and Loco Max vultures a figure four submission while the full nelson stretch is applied to Leono. Loco's wearing the Fantastic Four outfit there - so obviously has to win with a figure four.

2: Beatdown goes on, which is mostly the Infernales doing the work while Loco Max stands by. Loc has to force himself into the process, because the Infernales kinda forget his existence for stretches. And then they do a Leono double flapjack onto Loco's raised boots and it's all fine. Infernales are mostly better off with Loco Max - in case you were wondering, he's not Virus or Satanico. Neutron gets tossed up but reveres into a headscissors to start the comeback. Leono hits  top rope Asai Moonsault on Euforia, and Valiente's double jump moonsault is on key, almost overshooting Nosferatu. Reverse tope looks goof for the finish.

El Arte del Catch -  Suplex Olimpico: I was under the impression that this was a German suplex, but they did a powerslam. I dunno.

3: Rudos are in no hurry to start. Valiente and Loco start. Loco goes 4/5ths of the ring on a hiptoss, and they do it again just to prove it wasn't a fluke. Loco rolls for safety and Euforia takes over for a brief bit that's good, and Valiente completes the sweep by sending Nosferatu out with a fireman's carry escape armdrags. Nosferatu hides in the crowd rather than take any more. Leono/Loco Max is basic and fine, but the crowd boos Leono very loudly after he shoulderblocks Loco down and does his yell. Stomps, Loco Max misses a clothesline, and Leono backbreakers him out of the ring. Nosferatu takes over, and they work corner reversal spots leading to a Leono springboard headscissors, which is mostly blown. Euforia smartly comes right in to not leave the crowd a moment to boo, and Euforia is quickly back out with a spinning headscissors. Leono does his faked dive pose and there's those boos again. Neutron and Nosferatu, with Neutron met with a chop as he comes in. Again, there's that slightest hesitation between moves. During moves, timing's fine, and Neutron's moonsault to the floor looks good. Chaos finish in the ring - Valiente rolls thru a Loco Max sunset flip only to be dropkicked by Euforia, Leono tries to springboard in but gets powerbomb by Euforia (to a pop) and that's the match, though Loco ends up giving Valiente a loose powerslam as well. Crowd is still cheering after the match.

Neutron shakes his head and walks away from his partners. HA! I think my theory has some promise.

El Diseno de El Halcon

Match 2: Misterioso II, Terrible (c), Texano Jr. vs Alex Koslov, Felino, Heavy Metal (c)
Arena Coliseo, 08/26/07

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:57
Approx Rating: Good. Best Alex in a while.
Other Match Notes: Alex does the pre-match promo, though seemingly more talking about whom he'd like spend time with after the match. I think he has new wrist guards - they look like something Sagrado might wear. Entrances, with new generic music. Misterioso does the promo, making the case that Alex Koslov is a dancer, not an authentic luchador.

1: Koslov and Texano start off with a fast paced segment. Texano gets sent out with a jumping enziguri, but Alex passes on the obvious point to blow kisses. Metal throws Misterioso around with armdrags and stops him with a spinning backbreaker. Texano comes in, and is kicked and almost immediately put in a casita, but Texano kicks off. Texano quickly takes the knee bump to the floor, and Metal follows with the dropkick between the ropes. While he's outside, Metal makes sure to beat up Terrible. Hey, Monito's in the tecnico corner, I didn't even notice. Felino starts with Terrible in the ring, and fakes him out with the matador wave. Terrible elbows him down and laughs. High tens for everyone. Terrible slams Felino and stomps to celebrate - getting kicked over the top rope in the next second. Texano tries to sneak attack Felino but Felino's too fast. 'rana sends Texano out. Koslov quickly in and out - springboard plancha! Misterioso misses a corner charge on Felino and is waved to the top rope. Felino distracts him by pointing up, slaps him, and joins him on the top rope - top rope headscissors! Felino rolls Misterioso over a couple times instead of pinning him, so Monito can add a middle rope stomp. One two three, and Metal gets that casita on Terrible for good measure. Rudos regroup while we watch replays.

Q: El Terrible ha perdido alguan vez la cabellera?
A: Ninguna vez

2: Texano and Alex have a pose off, which ends with both guys just running the ropes, Alex flipping, and then putting the stop sign up to blow a kick. As usual, he gets leveled, this time with a Texano wheel kick. Stomp. Chop. Corner whip, reverses, Alex charges in, gets backdropped to the apron, slaps hi sway back form there, and levels Texano with a springboard forearm. That looked cool. Misterioso and Terrible promptly stomp him into the mat. Replay of the move, which looks good even in a reverse angle. Meanwhile, Alex is rallying back, with some miscommunication help. Terrible takes the jumping enziguri, Misterioso probably took the superkick though we didn't have a good angel of it. Tag to Heavy Metal, who's in to face Texano. Metal wants a handshake? Texano says no. So they back up, Metal runs with a dropkick, Texano moves, and that starts the beatdown. Weird. Metal takes stereo elbow drops from Terrible and Texano, and then Texano gets the bullrope to whip him. Terrible pins Metal after that, wow. Misterioso drops Alex for another bullwhip shot, and he gets pinned as well. While we watch replays, Felino sits in the front row - and is sad when the rudos beat up Monito. Bullwhip spot, and a giant shoulderbreaker.

El Arte Del Catch: Toque de Espaldas - hey, a really skinny Dr. Karonte. Back bridge pin.

3: Beatdown continues. Metal takes corner clotheslines. Alex gets fireman's carry dropped into a gutbuster. Felino tries to rush the ring and only gets a waistlock on Terrible before he's taken care of. Double boot for him. Metal back in, and immediately grabbed. He turns a whip into a double handspring elbow, and we spend more time looking at Monito than any follow up, so is must've been not so good. Rudos Hold Metal in the corner for a few seconds before setting up a failed corner whip, which is odd. This is one of those comebacks that seems to happen in stages. Metal sets up for a dive, but gets yanked off the apron by Texano. Same thing happens to Felino, and Terrible mugs Monito while he's at it. Alex does connect on a springboard plancha to Misterioso, but Texano breaks that up with a legdrop to the back of Alex's head. Felino in and dropkicking Texano, Misterioso dropkicks him, Alex tires a clothesline Misterioso but he's caught and grabbed - Gory Special, hold for a Texano missile dropkick one two three. Felino runs into a Texano boot trying to break it up, and he gets dropped in a double gutbuster, with Terrible adding a top rope splash. That's it.

Rudos yell on the microphone. That's it.
