AAA Mini Line - 08/25/07 (#639)
Recapped: 08/26/07

FOUR sided ring, without the entrance setup from TripleMania. Speaking off, we get some highlights from last week
- Mexican Powers win the tag team titles
- Chessman attempts suicide, and Kenzo loses his hair
and then onto clips from this week's main event.

Promo: Mini Abismo and Mini Histeria talk abut being the best pair. Which would be nice if this was a tag match.  Also, someone didn't bring the green screen on this taping run.

Match 1: Mini Histeria vs Mascartia Divina in a #1 Contenders Match for the Mexican National Minis Championship
Domo de la Feria de Leon, 07/16/07

Winner: Mini Histeria
Match Time: 12:20
Notes: Extreme Tiger is here to be Mascara Divina's second. I don't think this is a great idea, because it reminds you how Extreme Tiger is basically a mini that we're pretending is not a mini because he's got connections (and he'd have to be a rudo at that side). I bet the deal is Divina was supposed to be Mascara Sagrada's second, and with Divina moved into the match (this is Sagrada's no-show title match) and no normal sized Mascara Divina around, they just grabbed the first guy available. Copetes is the referee, surely to cause me to lose my mind. Maybe I miss it, but I doesn't sound like the mention the stip here at all. Everyone gets in-ring introductions. Arturo screws up and calls him "Mini Extreme Tiger!" and Tiger is TICKED. This show is already awesome.

After the break, we have a whole rules explanation. In ring, they're running this like a title match, but it's not being referenced anywhere else. Divina gests the crowd chanting for Mascarita, which is funny to me. This match was lots of chicanery and a little bit of wrestling. Copetes decided to be rudo for this match, so he was slow counting Divina. Copetes was easily distracted, allowing Mini Abismo to help and double team a lot. Histeria yanks Divina's mask off right in front of Copetes, and it's no DQ. Divina got his comeback, and instead of doing big moves, he just untied Histeria's mask. This backfires - after Divina sends Mini Histeria out with a headscissors, Divina gets into an argument with Copetes, and Mini Abismo swaps masks and places with Mini Histeria. Somehow, this works, even though Abismo's gear is a little bit different than Histeria, and he's still got the white moth facepaint on. Also, Mini Abismo is a far more interesting worker. They switch back after Divina gets in a plancha to the floor, but Histeria ends up taking out his partner with a tope. Divina gets a sunset flip on Histeria in the ring, but Copetes slow counts him, and then tries to break up the pin. Histeria kicked out first anyway. On and on it goes. Divina gets crotched on the top rope, Mini Histeria superplex and adds a frog splash for the win. Abismo and Histeria celebrate like they've won a title.

After everyone from the last match disappears, Mesias comes to ringside to - well, get hit by trash, mostly. Someone want to give him a microphone? They've got the lights turned down, and they're doing a light display which doesn't include a spotlight on him. It's odd. Anyway, this just gets the crowd to chant for Cibernetico. Mesias and friends are the best in Mexico, blah blah blah.

Vignette: Guapito is watching the end of last week's show in his in-limo DVD player. No Guapos match! He's very upset about it.

Promo: Crazy Boy and Joe Lider pretend to watch an insert video of the finish of the tag title match at TripleMania. Mexican Powers pretending to watch themselves is great. Anyway, they say they're the only extreme wrestlers in AAA, the only tag team champs, and they're moving on from the Sect to face the Guapos.

Match 2: Alan Stone, Scorpio Jr. (c), Zumbido vs Crazy Boy, Extreme Tiger, Joe Lider (c)
Domo de la Feria de Leon, 07/16/07

Winner: Mexican Powers
Match Time: 12:05
Notes: Hijo de Tirantes is ref, and he helps slick down Guapito's hair for some reason. Guapos jump the MPs as soon as the introductions are over. Beatdown goes for 4 minutes and is pretty good as these things go, with the Guapos just destroying the Mexican Powers at time. Scorpio and Alan kill Extreme Tiger with a press slam. Lider sidesteps a corner charge to turn it around, and the Mexican Powers immediate take it towards the stage so they can do spots there. I think they were looking for a way to dive off it, but it's not immediately obvious. During the tecnicos showcase, Alan takes a powerbomb/off the top rope neckbreaker combo, and was really taking his life in his own hands on that one. These two teams work together pretty good, with the Guapos being good, and the Mexican Powers not being extremely stupid, though there's a really bad double Asai Moonsault spot by Crazy and Lider which makes me reconsider that. Back in the ring, Zumbido gets Extreme Tiger with the fisherman's buster and has him for three, but pulls him up because he's losing the match. Zumbido and Guapito double team fails, and Extreme Tiger gets Zumbido with the inverted 'rana. That still does not look good, and Zumbido gets spiked.

After a break, Sabu, Ron Killings, and Konnan hit the ring, attacking the Mexican Powers. Lider gets knocked out of the ring, and Sabu follows with a double jump axhandle. Flying chair legdrop for Crazy Boy. Extreme Tiger's legs are held open for a Ron Killings top rope legdrop. Guapos walk off during this. Drinks are hitting the ring again. Konnan gets the microphone and says the kind of hardcore is Sabu, so that's where they're going here. I'm sure the Mexican Powers are thrilled by this idea.

Vignette: At some other time, Guapito and his ladies are protesting the censoring of the Guapos match off the TripleMania broadcast by walking the streets with signs.

Video Package: Next week, Alas de Oro with: Laredo Kid, Extreme Tiger, Rey Cometa, Scoria, Aero Star, Super Fly, Hombre sin Miedo (no video? Hombre sin Highlights!), and Pegasso. They've got some footage of it here.

Vignette: Guapito is still protesting. Jesus Z catches up with them, and Guapito makes his case - they had a match at TripleMania! AAA is holding down the Guapos. You know, when you think about this, why would Guapito want this particular match to air.

Vignette: Alfa is hanging around outside a building, waiting for someone. AH, he's stalking Fabi Apache, which Fabi accuses him off and Alfa denies. I think Fabi next figures he's looking for a date, and not only is she coming out of a bad relationship, but she's got no time for another one between her job and her kid. Alfa convinces her that he just wants to be friends.

Vignette: is this the same Jesus Z with Guapito bit, or a different one? I think it's a new one, because it seems AAA has capitulated to the demands of Guapito, and the Guapos match is next.

Match 3: Alan Stone, Scorpio Jr. (c), Zumbido vs Alebrije (c), Elegido, Super Porky
Toreo de Cuatro Caminos, 07/15/07

Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 9:40
Other Match Notes: They might have better arranged it so we don't get Guapo matches back to back. Alebrije and Cuije have their titles. Porky is looking enormous. His music sounds strange getting echoed around the large building. Guapos jump the tecnicos as soon as Elegido hits the ring. Comeback at about 2:45, non a missed corner charge. There's at least one edit in here, which I I only notice because it's really obvious. As with the last match, Guapos are good as a team on beatdowns, and can make the goofy tecnicos stuff look okay. Porky tries a tope, and comes up short, with Zumbido just barely catching him. Alan adds a pescado, Elegido does a top rope plancha, and the captains are left in the ring. Guapito breaks up an Alebrije pin, and while Alebrije is dealing with him, Cuije rolls up Alebrije for 2. Scorpio kicks Cuije down and teams up with Guapito for a school boy trip on Guapito, which gets two. More spots like that, as this goes on for a while because Copetes is slow counting. Eventually, Cuije is pressed on top of Guapito and Scorpio for the win. Not sure why Guapito wanted to show a match where he got beat.

Noti AAA
-
Konnan's getting his kidney transplant.
- Oriental, Histeria, Antifaz and Laredo Kid are head to Japan and "NOA". And there's the show on 09/03, with more people.
- Sabu cuts a promo in English. That's always weird. Anyway, he's the king of Hardcore, not the Mexican Powers

Interview: Kenzo cuts a promo, in English. Did you watch the video? He's no loser! He's no loser! It's Mesias' fault. Kenzo's still upset about. That seems fair, it just happened yesterday. He doesn't sound too happy with Mr. Banderas.

Match 4: Abismo Negro, Kenzo Suzuki, Mesias (c) vs Alebrije, Charly Manson (c), La Parka Jr.
Domo de la Feria de Leon, 07/16/07

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 12:13
Other Match Notes: Konnan's out with Kenzo, who's looking even more bald than in the interview. I wonder if it's the lighting. Kenzo's still not happy, but he does give Mesias a fist pound when he comes to the ring. Alebrije and Cuije have their Darth Vader/Yoda outfits. That would've been a fine feud with the Alliens. Charly points out he still has his hair. A girl jumps over the rail and attaches herself to La Parka Jr. It's amazing how unphased the AAA guys see by this at this point. Abismo wants to jump Parka right off the bat, but Konnan insists he has a plan which involves waiting. Hijo de Tirantes and Pepe Casas are your refs. Beat down to start. It seems like the rudos work over both of Parka's arms for a while, just to make sure they get the correct one. Kenzo starts aiming for left one after that, so perhaps they do have a clue. Charly starts the comeback at 5:45 by escaping a tilt-a-whirl and dropkicking Abismo. Point for being different! After Parka and Alebrije get to do their wacky sequences, Mesias slams Cuije. Alebrije confronts him, while Head Hunter I runs to ring. Alebrije sheds Mesias and pushes Cuije out of the way just in time, taking the Head Hunter splash himself. Of course, both refs see this and don't seem to be going for the DQ. Head Hunter slams Alebrije ands adds the second rope splash. La Parka Jr. rallies, but Mesias sneaks in a cheap shot, and Kenzo blows mist. He's no Taijiri. Shoulderbreaker on the bad shoulder. The fans think it's going to be a martinete and are relieved when it's not, which seems to mean they haven't caught onto the shoulder story. Kenzo poses, and then covers for the win. Parka is carried out. They highlight the shoulder injury in the replays.

Match 5: Ron Killings, Sabu, X-Pac (c) vs Chessman, Cibernetico (c), Zorro
Domo de la Feria de Leon, 07/16/07

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 15:26
Other Match Notes: Head Hunter I is out with the rudos, as is Konnan. No pre-match attack, and lots of stalling before the match can actually get started. With three foreigners in this, they keep Chessman in as a face in peril for a while. He escapes, but to tag in Zorro, who gets stuck in even longer, with much cheating from the outside and preventing the tag from being made. Cibernetico finally gets the hot tag, and does a nice job of it. Zorro brings a ladder into play, but it mostly works against the tecnicos. Looks like Cibernetico's Woman Friend here. Chessman gets sent out, with the help of the ladder, and takes a thru the ropes dropkick form X-Pac there. Killing and Cibernetico are left in, and Cibernetico spears and press him. Copetes tries to catch Killings on the press, I guess, but does a poor job of it. Mesias and Kenzo walk out, Mesias fouls Cibernetico, and Kenzo uses Copetes' arm to count the three. That works? I guess that works.

Head Hunter & Sabu set up a table on the outside in a hurry, and try to legdrop Zorro thru - of course, they still can't get the tables to break, and it just flips over. Rudos hold the ring to end the show.

That's it.
