CMLL GdR on FSE - 06/24/07 (#46)
Recapped 07/01/07

Intro: Averno & Mephisto talk about the tag title match. They're going to win, this time for sure. They need to have a dog named Mutley. Mistico, of course, is looking past the tag title match to a mask vs mask match.

In place of an Outside the Ring feature, we see the valets getting ready in the dressing room. Nothing even racy.

Match 1: Euforia, Nosferatu, Satanico (c) vs La Mascara, Mictlan, Volador Jr. (c)
Arena Mexico, 06/23/07

  1. Infernales
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 9:07
Approx Rating: Decent.
Other Match Notes: Satanico and Mascara do the promos. They never let Volador talk.

1: Per usual, it feels like we've joined the first fall in progress. Mictlan/Nosferatu start and are rough. Slow, mostly. Volador flips in the ring and shoves Satanico, which gets him Satanico, and gets the beatdown started. Nice thinking on that one. Satanico beats Volador down on the outside with the anger of a man not happy to be even slightly punked out. Mictlan gets put thru the shredder, including the tag move that makes no sense. Mascara next. Volador falls down before actually taking the a boot, but gets a triple submission/pose to end it right after.

2: Volador is held by Euforia and Nosferatu and taunted by Satanico, who also directs the referees to stop the other tecnicos from getting in. Satanico's in no hurry, and lurks a little bit too close to actually get kicked by Volador. Satanico kicks him out of the ring right after. Mictlan is worked over by the tag team while Satanico holds Mascara out of the way. New tag spot is one man holding Mictlan's leg open, and the other hitting the knee with a running boot. Mascara gets a double boot. Volador is brought in and held again, but moves out of the way of a double clothesline, and Satanico eats it instead. Comeback from there, with Mascara going for Nosferatu's mask. Satanico tries to escape on the outside, but gets brought back in for kicks to the front and back. Chaos from there, leading to a Mictlan tope con giro on Euforia, a Mictlan top rope plancha on Nosferatu, and Volador landing a quebrada on Satánico for the pin.

3: Satanico and Volador get into a chop/punch battle, which goes very badly for Volador. Infernales do a great job rooting on Satanico from the apron. Satanico goes to an armbar, and Mascara intercedes with a kick. Nosferatu and Infernales back elbow him, Mictlan trips then both up  and slides out as Volador comes in with a springboard splash on both. Satanico back into to break it up, Mascara dropkicks him out, and gets boosted into a dropkick on Nosferatu. Superkick aimed for Euforia gets Mictlan, but Mascara gets Euforia with a headscissors on the next try. Satanico stops him with a back elbow, and Volador is back up to exchange chops. Volador tries to pull from the crowd. He fares better in the strike battle this time, but Satanico's still got more. Corner whip, reversed, Volador charges in, backdropped to the apron, and back elbowed to the floor. Satanico quick to the apron for the flattening senton. Capitan's out of action, so Mascara steps in, giving a drop toe hold to Nosferatu and getting the bodyscissors roll into a campana on Euforia. He's done, and Mictlan wraps it up with a 'rana on Nosferatu. Quick to the break.

Valets dance interlude. Is this a Spanish language cover of I Will Survive? The music sounds like it. Odd choice for Father's Day!

Match 2: Averno & Mephisto vs Mistico & Negro Casas for the CMLL World Tag Team Championship
Arena Mexico, 06/23/07

  1. Challengers
  2. Champions
  3. Champions

Winner: Tecnicos, retain titles.
Match Time: 19:08
Approx Rating: That final fall was longer than most matches. It really picked up there as compared to the first couple.
Other Match Notes: Negro has the tag team title, and seems - I dunno, surprised to have? Showing it off a lot. Mistico only has his CMLL tag title. Takes me a while to notice, but no shoulder tape this week. I notice, as much as the fans do jump the rails, if you give them a hug, they go away quick. Mephisto and Averno have the black hoods going, and separate entrances. TV announcers are doing the introduction instead of the ring announcer - have we ever figured out what the deal is? I can only assume it's a money thing. Anyway, whatever voice affects they're using to make it sound like they're coming over the arena loudspeaker also makes the arena sound like it's virtually empty. There's no ambient noise, and we can't even hear the ring entrance music. Arena is very dark, no lights except for the first five rows. We can head the ring announcer when he's doing the title match bit. Hey, Tiger Hispano, you've got the belt upside down for the camera. There you go. Mephisto and Averno do another pre-match taped promo. None from the champs? Guess so. Every so often, a light goes over the dark areas, and you can see empty sections.

1: Averno/Mistico. They've wrestled before. Usual open. Mephisto and Averno's gear looks really good this week. Negro takes out Mephisto with a dropkick before he can fully get in the ring. Negro off the ropes, shoulderblock, off the ropes, shoulderblock, off the ropes, waved by, into a Mephisto armdrags. Mephisto leaps over a charge, rolls backwards, and Negro stops short to stomp him in the head. Averno boots Negro down, Mistico springboards in with a spinning headscissors. Mephisto tries a senton but Mistico's' moved. Averno charge into a heel kick from Negro, Mistico sends Mephisto into the ropes with a spinning headscissors. Everyone pauses for a moment. Negro goes for a casita on Mephisto but he's shrugged off. Mistico goes for a spinning whatever, but Averno reverses into into a face first powerbomb while Mep gives Negro a lame looking powerbomb. Stereo pins.

2: We rejoin with Mistico being worked over by both rudos. Negro must be on the outside. Mistico's stepped on. Whip, double back elbow, rolled backwards to his feet, whip, rebound faceslam, double boot sends him out, and Mistico land shard, spinning on impact. Negro tries to fight back with chops, but 2 chops to his one ends him every time. Lots of crowd shots of fans with signs. Talking a lot before a double whip, but the double elbow does connect. Off the ropes, double dive tease and pose. Mistico's getting up on the apron behind him, and Mephisto turns to take a springboard spinning headscissors. Mistico ducks an Averno clothesline, and Negro does - uh, something, the camera stuck with Mistico instead. Mephisto tries turning at Negro and takes the drop toe hold to set up the 619. Lots of standing around again.  Averno pretty waits with hands on knees, Negro waits with hands on knees five feet away, and Mistico gets to his spot before charging over for a headscissors. Averno runs at Negro and nearly does the spinebuster on himself, Negro reacting at the last second. Sharpshooter there, up and over sunset flip over there. Either everyone's dead tired from working some show before this or they're really mailing it - that was really half speed. What crowd there is mostly Mistico fans, so they're still into it.

El Arte de Catch: La Alejandrina - same guys as from the first couple weeks. It's a camel clutch turned in to a double armscissors while yanking the legs.

3: Lots of time left in the hour. Averno and Negro start in the ring while Mistico rests on the outside - and then Mistico slingshots into the ring before anything much can happen. Mistico off the ropes, over, and into a Mephisto kick from the outside. Mephisto taunts the fans, and gets a kick in the back from Mistico. Mistico ducks an Averno clothesline, takes a backdrop but bounces off Mephisto back into a headscissors on Averno. Off the ropes, headscissors for Mephisto. Averno misses another clothesline, and Mistico gets a fireman's carry escape headscissors, and springboard headscissors for good measure. Mistico to the ropes, to the apron - Asai Moonsault on Averno. Mistico looks tired for a moment, but recovers enough to pose./ Negro and Mephisto in. Negro off the ropes, over, over, quick turn and clothesline. Headlock, Mephisto blocks it and gets his own, Mephisto shot off, Negro runs at him and leaps for a monkey flip, Mephisto shoves him off, trips him down, Negro trips him of the mat, off the ropes, off the ropes, and Negro lands a big swinging DDT. Negro starts to get up, grimaces in pain and grabs his side while falling towards the corner. Mistico comes in and lands a springboard dropkick on Mephisto. Off the ropes, TOPE! Nice one, too. Mistico looks back to the ring, he could use Negro to give him a moment. Negro ducks a clothesline, bodyscissors cradle on Averno, one two NO. We're slow counting it. Negro grabs his right side - something's been bugging him all match, I think. Both up, Averno misses a clothesline, Negro charges for  'rana, Averno blocks and powerbombs him, feet on the rope, one two NO - the ref saw the feet and stopped counting. Averno picks up Negro, setting up for the finish, but Negro shoves out and starts slapping Averno. Averno stops that with a shot the midsection, powerbomb, deep leg press, one t- Mistico in with a springboard sunset flip one two th-NO! Everyone tired. Negro's still laying in the ring and eventually rolls to the floor. Mistico off the ropes, Mistico tilt-a-whirl into a small package one two NO. Both men breathing hard and slow to get up. Mistico off the ropes, 'rana, one two and Mephisto breaks it up with a dropkick. Nice of him to show up. Crowd chanting for Mistico as everyone's down. Mephisto picks up Mistico as we take a long look at the crowd. Mephisto with a Rosa? Into a DDT one two NO. Mephisto looks at the crow and breathes. Mephisto misses a clothesline, Mistico spinning around for a 'rana one two NO. We may have 8 minutes more of this. I'd like something more than move, cover, two count, rest period, but I may be asking for too much here. Mistico shoulderblock, off the ropes, bodyscissors into a - no, Mephisto shoves him off, Averno jumps onto Averno with a senton and Mephisto cuts Negro off - one two NO. Mistico rolls to the floor, and Negro's left in. Mephisto batters him with chops, while Averno says in. Double whip, back elbow by Averno, Mephisto lifts him up into an Averno powerbomb, both cover, one two Negro kinda kicks out and kinda gets a foot on the ropes. Mephisto left the pin to cut Mistico off, which might have made the difference. Negro up first but one one knee. He ducks down and semi-collapses when Averno teases a thrown punch. Negro double whip, into a double powerbomb one two Mistico breaks it up with a springboard dropkick. Mistico ducks an Averno clothesline, connects with a superkick for Mephisto, waved by Averno, and back with La Mistica - but Mephisto immediately bows that up with a dropkick to Mistico's face. Now what? Averno's enthused about not losing like that. Referee checks on everyone, including Negro, who's looking the worse by far. Double whip, double clothesline misses, Mistico tossed up into a dropkick on Averno, but Mephisto boots him out. Mephisto of the rope, and Averno boosts him up into a springboard tope con giro! That was huge. Averno and Negro back in. Averno's the one limping, and they stall enough for us to see a replay of the dive. Averno with a forward legsweep roll into an inverted figure four - will Negro give? He's close, he's close to giving up, he's crawling, Tigre Hispano is in the way, Negro's got a long way to go and it doesn't help that referees are blocking him, ah, Negro's got it. Negro's actually up to his feet first, but looking staggered. Averno's kick is caught, Negro takes the leg, breaks it over his knee, puts on a legscissors. Mephisto tries to break it up with an elbow drop, but Negro won't let it go. An axhandle finally breaks it free, and Mephisto rolls back out. This is quite a long fall. Averno off the ropes, Negro dropkick to the knee, Casita - no, Mephisto blows him up with a huge big boot. Averno celebrates his continued existence. Mistico roots on his partner from the outside. Mephisto and Averno both in now - double whip, double clothesline misses, Negro tossed up but turns it into a 'rana on Mephisto, Mistico in with a springboard 'rana on Averno one two NO for both. Negro's going to cry! He opts to get the crowd to cheer for him instead. Mephisto adjusts his mask so he blow some snot out. I think that's what happened anyway. Everyone slowly up - Mistico dropkicks Averno out, Negro shoves Mephisto out. Negro to the apron, - sillal on Mephisto. Mistico plancha on Averno! Replays as everyone gets back inside. All four back in. Tecnicos miss on dropkicks. Mephisto chops Negro, and the tecnicos are taken to opposite corners. Bulldogs - rudos get shove doff , of course. Mistico boosted up for a dropkick, but no one home. Rudos miss clotheslines, Mistico with a dropkick to the knee and a Majistral on Mephisto as Negro hits a Lam Mistica on Averno! One two three! Fans, wrestlers go crazy. The people who are there are pretty happy to be there. Averno seems not believe it happened again, and this way.

Mistico talks. Averno and Mephisto congratulate Negro and Mistico for being fine champions. Averno's still selling the Mistica.
