AAA Mini Line - 06/16/07 (#629)
Recapped: 06/16/07

La Gran Traicion
4 sided ring this week. Lots of room around ringside as a result. Arena seems about 3/4ths full early, with most of the empty seats being in the upper areas. They bring back the old AAA bumpers coming into the show out of break each time. I think we could use something that doesn't have Cibernetico in a mask. Dr. Morales is announcing for this show.

Interview: Jerrito welcomes Mini Histeria to the ranks of the evil minis. Which is odd, because he's been awhile. Mini Histeria says he was taught by Histeria himself.

Match 1: Jerrito Estrada, Mini Histeria vs Mascarita Divina, Sombrita Azul
Plaza de Toros Palacio del Arte de Morelia, Michoacan, 05/20/07

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 6:01
Notes: Mini Histeria has totally different gear than he did in the interview previous. Pepe Casa is the ref. Sombrita Azul looks way too big to be a mini at the introductions - I think it's just a visual trick, because he looks more reasonable (but still probably over 5 feet) when they're actually wrestling. Match barely gets going before the rudos start the beatdown. Tecnicos quickly turn it around - it's about 2:30 minutes from start to finish on those bits. Divina does a great running corner plancha. I really hate the pointless foul fakes - they hurt the flow of matches by slowing them down. Sombrita gets in a Asai tornillo on Jerrito to take care of both of them. Divina gets a 'rana for a near fall, but gets caught trying a reverse bodyscisosrs, and Mini Histeria turns that into a behind the back seated piledriver.

Mascaraita is dead, but the rudos stomp him and throw him out anyway.

Vignette: Jesus Z talks to the newest AAA trio - Payaso Daibolicos. They hate children, they hate all the groups of AAA, and they attack Jesus Z to end this bit.

Match 2: Payaso Carrona (c), Payaso Miedo, Payaso Terror vs Gallego, Mr. Condor (c), Toxico AAA
Plaza de Toros Palacio del Arte de Morelia, Michoacan, 05/20/07

Winner: Payasos
Match Time: 6:45
Notes: So you debut your new rudo trio versus...a rudo trio. Huh. Evil clowns come out with balloons. A valet hands some out, and the clowns pop 'em all. Piero is your ref. They have to have a graphic explaining which clown is which, but - they don't. I guess one evil clown is as good as the next. Commercial before the match.

Condor's team jump the clowns to start the match. So you debut your new rudo trio, and you book them as tecnicos in their first match. Huh. There's not many AAA opener match guys, particularly with all the Air Force ones being pushed hard at the moment, but couldn't they have used Los Chivas and someone else? In the midst of this beatdown, Toxico uses a side back piledriver - not much different than the finish of the last match - and it's just a move. Not even one where Toxico bothers to pin, not one that's particularly sold for that much. Triple powerbomb is sold more, but again, why try to win the match? That'd be silly. All the Pirata get tripped up and crotched on the post. I was thinking maybe the third time, it'd be reversed, but nope. Yellow Clown (going by mask - I believe that'd be Carrona) just ducks a double chop, and that's starts the comeback. Clowns have a total tecnico comeback, and now I'm thinking maybe they're meant to be tecnicos and I've just misunderstood. Carrona and Mr. Condor end up back in for the seeming endgame, with Carrona control but having lots of trouble with his mask. Mortal gets some help by Gallego trip form outside. Condor starts to go for a camel clutch, Carrona shoves him off, there's some discussion as they both stand up (Carrona slow than Mr. Condor would like, I think), Mr. Condor shoulderblocks him and runs to the far ropes. The far ropes aren't visible from this angle, so we just see Mr. Condor running off screen, noise from a bump, and Mr. Condor fails to return. Great camera choice there. Anyway, it would appear the Payasos tripped Mr. Condor in revenge, as he's arguing with them as Carrona runs over there. Whip, spinebuster, look at the crowd, step over armbar I guess. We needed the reverse angle there. That's it.

If the Payasos are the Pirata Morgan trio under a new gimmick, and I'm not sure of that but it would seem to fit...
Pirata Morgan Jr. -> Carrona
Barba Roja -> green robe/bald head guy
Drake Morgan -> thin, green puff of hair, blue cape

Angel Mortal and Mr. Condor get in a fight, and then hug.

Vignette: Alan and Decnnis are looking for Barrio Brother t-shirts, but t-shirt is not selling them any more. They wonder if they can trust Gran Apache and go rudo. What would you know, Gran Apache and Super Calo show up right then, and convince the Barrio Boys that rudo is the way to go. Everyone enjoys an evil laugh of being rudos.

Match 3: Alan, Decnnis, Gran Apache (c), Super Calo vs Aero Star, Pegasso, Rey Cometa, Super Fly (c)
Plaza de Toros Palacio del Arte de Morelia, Michoacan, 05/20/07

Winner: Air Force
Match Time: 7:53
Other Match Notes: Arturo Rivera says Super Calo is part of "Sect de Gran Apache". All his partners are marking out for him, so maybe it is a Sect. Air Force comes out together because they're a team. Air Force flip and jump into the ring, and rudos jump them. Hijo de Tirantes is the ref, and they jump to a break just after the match starts.

Gran Apache and Super Calo have a nice electric chair suplex/diamond cutter combo. I think it's Rey Cometa who takes a huge flip bump on a double armdrag, and then takes a slingshot/diamond cutter combo that doesn't come off as well as the last one. Calo's probably thrilled to finally find a use for all those DDP matches he saw while sitting backstage at Nitro. Pegasso takes the Apache senton and a springboard dropkick from Calo. Super Fly gets a short run, but Gran Apache catches a kick and Calo kicks him in the thigh. Insert twenty second digression as everyone teases a DQ that won't happen. Rudos hold Super Fly and rip at his mask. Calo & apache go for a big double dropkick, but get yanked out and Aero Star clears out the Barrios with a springboard dropkick, though the camera choice completely misses it. As the other six battle on the outside, Super Fly goes for Calo's mask. Gran Apache tries to slide in with a chair, Super Fly gets it, Hijo de Tirantes grabs it away form him, and that leaves Super Fly open to being attack. Super Fly turns the tables on both of them, fakes out a dive, slingshot to the apron, and gets yanked off by the rudos, who hold him for a sliding dropkick by Calo. Calo - who's hair is exposed but not face - tries a double jump something but gets met by a dropkick from Aero Star. Calo out, Aero Star crushes him with a tope. That was great. Decnnis and Rey Cometa are next - Rey Cometa's confused me this whole match, because the big star on his chest is gone and I haven't seen him enough lately to pick out his mask with no help, but I finally picked up the stars on his knees. He ends up being flipped to the apron, but fights Decnnis up and gets him with a tornillo armdrags. Apache in, Rey Cometa to springboard to his shoulders, and a headscissors doesn't look great but get Apache out. Slingshot tornillo armdrag to the floor! Apache sells that awesomely. Alan and Pegasso, Alan taking a flip bump on a missed clothesline when Pegasso does the splits, that's great. Pegasso misses on the handspring but turns it into a backflip, and then comes back with a spinning headscissors. Calo cuts him off with a dropkick, and Decnnis helps him. Both shortly get armdragged out. Calo takes a bump over the rail into the crowd, and Decnnis jumps over to get out of the path of any dive. Pegasso does a splits pose instead, and Apache smacks him in the back of the head. Super Fly into face  him. Chest slap battle. Super Fly ducks the, armdrags, Apache waved into the ropes, armdrag, Super Fly charge, tilt-a-whirl, Super Fly lands on his feet, standing octopus, but Calo breaks that up with a knee. Aero Star in to face him, and he ducks a clothesline. Aero Star tries a waistlock, Calo quickly shrugs him loose (or Aero Star loses his grip), Calo springboard plancha hits, Both guys are lost for a microsecond, Aero Star does a 619 fakeout and Calo is a beat left in throwing himself out of the ring. Aero Star redeems the exchange with a crazy springboard double jump inside out moonsault to the floor. Rey Cometa gets a double spinning armdrags on Decnnis to send him out, and a springboard tornillo while they're there. Alan follows that with a slingshot tornillo of his own - I think that's what it was. Pegasso goes up for a top rope tornillo, and all four are out. Somehow, Hijo de Tirantes and Gran Apache have gotten into an argument, which causes Hijo to yank Gran Apache's bandana and reveal his balding head. Meanwhile, Super Fly has been setting up on the top rope behind Apache, and as Apache starts running for a dive onto the pile, Super Fly cuts him off with a top rope plancha. (This is a great camera angle, because you don't see if Apache had to slow down or change his angle so Super Fly could hit him - you just see Super Fly making contact.) Hijo de Tirantes ends up in the line of fire - both he and Super Fly duck an Apache clothesline, but then Super Fly dumbly shoves Hijo de Tirantes towards Gran Apache, who moves, and Hijo de Tirantes trips into the middle buckle. That's the end of him. Apache gets the big punch on Super Fly, and sets up for a double underhook. And holds it and holds it and holds it and who's running late? Laredo Kid (wearing red/blocks as opposed to the Air Force blue), and he's got a chair. Laredo kills Apache with a chair shot to the head (the chair unfolds around his head). Crowd shot, and back to Super Fly being put on top of Apache. Hijo de Tirantes is up, and counting.

The crowd shot must've been to cover up Apache blading, because he's bleeding pretty well when we see him next. (On the other hand, that was a strong chair shot.) Air Force celebrates as the rudos complain about the chair shot to the head. Laredo Kid celebrates with his friends and sticks out from the pack with his outfit. Rudos seem like they want to go again, and they have good cause, so the Air Force cuts out. Highlights form the match - yea, this is one of those ones where it's tough to pick which ones not to show. Aero Star really tried to break his own neck on his tope. AAA's ring seems higher from the ground than normal rings, making it hard to hit a tope unless you're expecting it and diving more down, if that makes any sense. Apache is stretchered out.

Noti AAA
- Billy Boy is a psychiatric hospital. Why they took him in ambulance, I'm not so sure. They did tie him to the stretcher.
- AAA is coming to the US - California, Denver, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta. No other details - I would guess this is the Warped tour.
- Recap of last week's over turned AAA finish.

Interview: La Secta seems confident that given a second chance, they'll prove they should've been the champions the first time. El Mesias makes a run in on the interview, promising to overcome Roldan's interfernce.

Match 4: Cuervo, Scoria, Espiritu, Ozz (c) vs Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera (c), Psicosis II for the Mexican Atomicos Championship
Plaza de Toros Palacio del Arte de Morelia, Michoacan, 05/20/07

Winner: La Sect
Match Time: 15:31
Other Match Notes: Juvi slides into the ring and humps the mat. What's great is Joaquin Roldan is standing five feet behind him at the time, having accompanied the Mexican Powers to the ring. Ozz and Cuervo have the tag belts with them, and Mesias. Mesias still isn't happy about last week; Roldan thinks he's in charge, but the #1 guy in AAA is Mesias (according to Mesias.) Dr. Morales starts a Mexico chant. Mesias head to the back at the start of the match, Roldan heads that way by the time they do the title pose. Same captains as last time. Piero is ref - Roldan should've assigned a tecnico ref if he's so concerned about the rules (though, look at that last match and maybe I'm wrong.) Maybe it was the commission's call - let's go with that. Break before we get started.

Sect offer handshakes before the match. Mexican Powers are hesitant about accepting it - and they get jumped, of course. Joe Lider gets beat while still wearing his mask. Somewhere along here, Juvi took off his shirt, poses, and then put it back on so he can take it off and pose later. I dunno. Every team in the world is doing that "Everyone kick a kneeled over guy" bit. Lider doesn't take off his mask as he's getting beat. Everyone gets multiple shots. Juvi's left elbow is tapped and padded quite a bit, and I think it's the same for his right wrist . Sect keeps holding guys for springboard dropkicks into Juvi stops it by crotching Cuervo. We see Juvi setting up Cuervo for something in the corner, and waiting, and waiting - meanwhile, the Sect guys should be interceding, but presumably they're being attacked off camera in some fight we can't see. Finally, the ring is cleared enough for Juvi to get in his reverse 'rana. Mexican Powers get to their hokey double team work. Yea, Juvi rips off his short for the pop again. His tape is unraveling. Lider finally takes off his mask as they go to the tecnico showcase spots. Note the crowd goes more crazy for the shove spots than some of Lider's US indy moves. Lider takes a double hanging brainbuster that takes forever to set up. Juvi back in, not having fixed his elbow tape in the least, and still doing a great spinning float around DDT. And then he dances. Juvi seems to be at his NOAH levels of trying here. Escoria gets him with a spin kick, but Juvi comes back by dropkicking him on a springboard plancha. Juvi and Is team up for a double hiptoss flipped back into a slam. Psi covers, but Espiritu breaks it up. Escoria does a corner flip, but gets tripped on the next try, hung in a tree of woe, set up with a chair, and the chair is dropkicked in to his face. As Psicosis covers, Juvi comes in for absolutely no reason to yell - he sure doesn't cut off the Sect member from breaking up the pin. Espiritu hits two quebradas, but Crazy Boy breaks up the pin. Ozz into face Crazy, Crazy's springboard spin kick looks bad and the crowd somewhat lets him have it. Crazy handspring meets dropkick. Ozz could go for the pin, but slams him and heads up instead. Top rope moonsault comes up empty. Nice job shooting that, hiding Crazy's roll out of way till impact. Crazy sets up Ozz on the top rope, and pulls him off for a stunner. Cover, and Espiritu breaks it up. Lider works him over with punches. Espiritu takes care of him with a clothesline, but Crazy comes in to help his partner/set up a wacky double team. Reinera/missile dropkick is an actual decent idea, but Crazy Boy has a bad reinera. Cuervo comes in too so people can be doing things at the same time and make it hard for people to pay attention to them. Crazy and Lider end up knocked to the floor. Scoria drops on Lider with an apron somersault senton - I guess, didn't look right at all. Scoria kinda hit Lider's knee with his butt. Cuervo gives Crazy a hanging DDT off the apron, which look okay. Juvi apparently knocks Cuervo down from inside the ring (we don't get to see). Ozz is standing nearby, and Juvi lands on him with a pescado. Juvi starts to wander in a post dive haze, then snaps back to life, recalling a need to throw Ozz back in. Psicosis is just standing on the apron watching all of this. Not sure where Espiritu's disappeared to. Juvi jumps in the ring with a springboard dropkick to Ozz's back, and calls for the Juvi Driver. Juvi Driver connects, Juvi pulls Ozz into position but doesn't cover. Going up - but Psicosis hits him with a chair! Juvi falls into the ring, and Psicosis goes up - top rope chair senton. Ozz covers, one two three. New champions.

Espiritu is the most thrilled guy of the champions by far. Not hat they're not happy, but he's ecstatic. Crazy and Lider check on Juvi, as Psicosis has retreated to the aisle. Announcers note Psicosis is the Gran Tracion - good to have one this year. Roldan is back out, and Psicosis goes back in the ring to evade him. The Sect surrounds Psicosis, but they're just trying to figure out if Psicosis is with them or not. (If they were in the dark - a ha ha ha - that would explain why they'd attack him for sure, though Psicosis' pinfall attempt in the match is a bit ill-fitting. Maybe he was going to pull the guy up! It happens annoyingly enough.) Before anyone gets to say in the ring, Mesias is out to crow; he's in control here. Roldan and Mesias talk, but Mesias has Psicosis and he's got the belts. Juvi talks while the doctor is out to fix his wrap, since Juvi won't.

Interview: Zorro, who explains once more that he's teaming up with the Hell Brothers because it's what's best for AAA. Zorro also says he knows there a big surprise coming today, and he knows what it is. He's not telling.

Match 5: Kenzo Suzuki (c), Psicosis II, Six Pack vs Intocable, Laredo Kid, Zorro (c)
Plaza de Toros Palacio del Arte de Morelia, Michoacan, 05/20/07

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 10:52
Other Match Notes: Kenzo is irate on the way to the ring for whatever reason. Six Pack is still using the DX music, still has Alicia, and I still find "Six Pack" funny. Konnan enters third, and comes in the ring, though he's still got a crutch. Konnan's audio completely does not much the video - the sound is like 3 seconds behind, making it look dubbed in later. Anyway, as part of the Legion/Sect/Vipers Axis, Konnan introduces the newest member of the Vipers - Psicosis. (This is the first Abismo Negro MIA show.) Pepe Casa and Piero are the refs.

As with every single match today, the rudos jump the tecnicos. Alicia uses her shoe to slap people form the outside. La Sect immediately walk onto the scene, setting up a shiny wall piece for later, I'd guess. Fairly obvious crowd shot clip here, as the Sect vanish and Morales gets cut off in mid chanting. We pick up about 15 seconds before the comeback, and nearly miss Waltman missing the Bronco Buster on Zorro to starting it. Crowd is really hot for the tecnicos to get their revenge. Rudos slow the match down by huddling on the outside. Waltman wanders over to the announcers to yell "TIMEOUT! FOUL!" Lots of tecnico showcasing form there. Zorro gets backdropped to the floor, Alicia tries a plancha on her but Zorro catches her and puts her down. Waltman knocks him over with his pescado. Pac sets up to do something powerbomb-ish on Zorro on the floor, but Zorro backdrops out of that - it seems like from everyone's reaction that Waltman is supposed to go thru the plywood on the backdrop, but they weren't really that close and Waltman only hit it with his legs. Waltman gets up in front of the plywood as Laredo Kid steadies himself on the top rope, and we watch him the whole way. They slow down the live action as Laredo does a top rope top con giro knocking Waltman and Alicia into the plywood - though they cut out most of the impact, with just Waltman getting hit and starting to fall backwards, and then skipping head to both being down. (I remember seeing that on Accion - it didn't look great, but it looked good enough to show. They haven't cut out man on women violence before.) Intocable goes for a Dragon Cutter, but Kenzo escapes, off the ropes, an a huge clothesline. That's it.  Wow, a clean win for the rudos, will wonders never cease.

Kenzo's celebrating and not caring that none of his teammates appear to be alive. Psicosis is down to the floor from a dive. Again, Waltman and Alicia are shown recovering in slow motion. I dunno what's with that. Intocable is dead in the ring. Another slow motion of Waltman and Alicia, just being helped up, and then it suddenly jerks forward into normal speed time. The doctor checks on Intocable. Maybe he banged his head on the mat? That's the concern. Zorro and Pepe Casas help. Replays. Laredo sure obliterated Waltman with a dropkick in there. We get replays of the Laredo's dive, without interruption - oh, Alicia's skirt area had to be blurred out for some reason, that's probably the cause of some oddness. The blurring sure gives you the impression Alicia was not wearing underwear, though that would've been very odd for someone wearing a microskirt and planning on taking bumps.

promo: because we haven't seen enough of him this show, El Mesias cuts a promo on Cibernetico.
promo: Cibernetico is not scared, though he likes to fake it.

Match 5: El Mesias vs Cibernetico
Plaza de Toros Palacio del Arte de Morelia, Michoacan, 05/20/07

Winner: Cibernetico
Match Time: ~15:00
Other Match Notes: Mesias has the Sect and Konnan. Crowd is very into Cibernetico, who's preceded by Chessman. Lots of talking by Cibernetico before the match. Probably better than a long match. Mesias gets his turn to talk too. Everyone slowly leaves the ring during this, so obviously we're going to suddenly jump into a fight. Anyway, they're arguing about who's the rightful god of lucha libre, and they don't quite agree. Cut to break just before punches are thrown.

Cibernetico quickly hits the spear, covers, and the Sect jumps in to get him. Hey, Chessman, want to help? Nah, he'll just stand outside the ring. This is going on right in front of Hijo de Tirantes and he doesn't care. Theoretically, Cuervo is distracting him, but he's doing a horrible job by the end. Hijo de Tirantes ignores the fight while walking cross ring to yell at Chessman, who's just standing there. Sect all peacefully leave, and Cuervo goes to the back to get Konnan's crutch. As soon as he does, Ricky throws Ciber out for the Sect and Konnan to beat. This time, Chessman eventually scares them off with a chair. Mesias throws Ciber over the rail, and they brawl in the crowd, which Konnan and d the Sect getting even more involved. It gets back in the ring, and Ciber makes a comeback getting Mesias with a running knee, kick stunner for Scoria. slam for Cuervo, and finally the numbers catch up to him. Stompdown right in front of Hijo de Tirantes, who just shoves the Sect members away. Some drinks are hitting the ring, but not many. Chessman in, and trying to clear house. He gets in a spear, but gets caught on a kick and beat down. I think you've got to not try kicks when you're outmanned, unless kicks are just your think. Chessman gets a four man press lam - to the floor! That was a bit crazy. I think he's done here, but the Sect and Konnan beat him up more to be sure. Mesias brings Ciber over to the ropes to watch his buddy being killed. Crowd shot here. Hijo de Tirantes goes out to break up the beatdown on Chessman, and misses Mesias foul kicking Ciber. Crowd goes nuts and I'm completely confused as to why at first, till I'm finally able to hear La Parka Jr.'s music over them. La Parka Jr. is about ten seconds behind, trailed by Zorro and Roldan on the way to the ring. Sect splits before Parka can get there. Parka isn't in a sling, but still seem to be protecting his left arm. Mesias is in control in the ring, but  no one's paying attention. (Mesias smartly is not doing much). Tecnicos chase the Sect around the ring slowly, until they get back over by Chessman and try to stomp him down as he's being carried out. Zorro gets in some shots there, and the Sect runs to the back. Back in the ring, Ciber is being choked by his own shirt, which would seem to be illegal to you and me, but not Hijo de Tirantes. Mesias works over Cyber with punches, and he's got good ones here. somehow, the Sect slips back around the tecnicos again and stomps  down Ciber some more. Mesias and Hijo de Tirantes get into a shoving match, which causes Hijo de Tirantes to finally eject the Sect from inside, physically throwing Espiritu and Cuervo out of the ring. Of course, Hijo de Tirantes has to milk a near DQ out of this too. Ciber catches Mesias with a boot on a charge, and gives him a Stunner. Parka throws a chair to him, but Hijo de Tirantes takes it way, and Mesias gets in a clean right hand to the add in to the confusion. Hijo de Tirantes discuses with Parka and Roldan. Looks like Konnan throws in a chair (though we don't really get a good look at it), but Ciber intercepts it and hits Mesias in the back with it. Hijo de Tirantes turns around to count, and that's it.

Lots of post match celebrating. Parka and Cibernetico hug, and that's it.
