CMLL GdR - 06/02/07 (#80)
Recap:
06/03/07

Intro: Amapola and Miguel. Amapola looks like she just got done with her match and had no idea she was supposed to do this. Minis match takes place in the background. Promos by Averno and Sagrado, who's more interested in the Leyenda de Plata than this match. Can you blame him? Sagrado says this is going to be the year of Sagrado (no chance.)

Feature: At home with Misterioso. Misterioso is wearing a spider shirt. We get Misterioso walking down the street to his apartment, of course wearing his mask. It looks like a studio apartment, and not one that's been cleaned up recently. Misterioso ends up leaving his apartment without his mask on, but we only see the back of his head.

Match 1: Apocalipsis (c), Hooligan, Ramstein vs Brillante (c), Flash, Super Nova
Arena Mexico, 05/25/07

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:11
Approx Rating: Really good spring. 91.
Other Match Notes: No entrances.

1: A lot of Apocalipsis selling early, but he was moving and so was everyone else. Flash has skillz, and he and Brillante did stereo tope con giros, with Super Nova doing a top rope plancha on Hooligan. Springboard sunset flips one after another to win the fall, with Brillante getting a 'rana on Hooligan after the fact. Crowd went wild for the finish.

2: Ridiculously great, a lot of good spots that flowed well. Flash missing a move leading him to fly over the top rope by rolling to a stop on the stage, turning around, and springboarding back into the ring for a 'rana on Flash. Brillante doing a backflip headscissors, and then diving to the floor from off the screen. Flash taking a flip bump on a double chop. Super Nova taking a bump off the ropes and onto the ramp, Hooligan going out to grab him, Brillante racing cross ring for a springboard 'rana on Hooligan, only for Hooligan to block him and give him the Hooligan Clash on the ramp. (Hooligan got a stern warning from the ref for that one.) Super Nova ran into Ramstein's finish, and that was that.

3: Brillante gets killed again, with a flapjack/flying bulldog combo. The comeback starts a bit off - I think Flash is supposed to backflip around a double clothesline, it doesn't look right, and there's about ten seconds of everyone being lost on their cues. And then they go dive crazy and things work out well. Flash does a huge springboard plancha, Super Nova has a big Asai Moonsault and lands in the front row, and Brillante does a top rope moonsault. All the tecnicos crawl in the ring half dead, and that's just it. They call it countout, which I don't think the fans are happy with, but seems totally legitimate.

This match is sponsored by the clothing company, which I hope means we're not seeing the ads during the match.

Match 2: Averno (c), Ephesto, Mephisto vs Mistico (c), Sagrado, Volador Jr.
Arena Coliseo, 05/27/07

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:14
Approx Rating: Good. 85.
Other Match Notes: Entrances. We get a close up look at Volador's eye broke piercing during his promo. Rudos come out somewhat together, though weirdly only Mephisto is wearing the hood. Mephisto does a yelling promo, which is tough for a guy who's mouth doesn't actually move. Mistico has his CMLL singles title with him, so that's the only one they acknowledge.

1: Oh no, we get the ad scroll. We spend the first 50 seconds watching everyone react to the Mistico chants, and then we get a clip. Mistico/Mephisto. Mistico's left shoulder is heavily taped. Rudos yank out Mistico and stomp him down into the floor before he can really get going. He's stomped into the floor, till Averno checks to see if he's actually hurt. And then Averno crotched him into the post. Volador is worked over in the ring. Volador takes the double rebound hiptoss. Sagrado gets corner charges and the backbreaker/legdrop combo, going straight down instead flipping over as people have been doing. Averno tries to see how long he can hold up Mephisto for Devil's Wings. A long time, it seems.

2: Ephesto takes the double rebound hiptoss onto Sagrado. Volador gets the triple powerbomb. Averno grabs Mistico on the outside, but keeps him out there for a gutbuster. Sagrado ducks a double clothesline to set up the comeback - springboard dropkicks by Mistico and Volador, superkick by Sagrado, and triple tope con giros by the tecnicos! I like how Mistico's recovering form a dive, and a fan walks over to shake his hand. Mistico gives Mephisto a horrible 619 - he gets tangled in the ropes or something, and the crowd gets on him for that. Volador boots Sagrado into a dropkick on Averno to knock him to floor, and Mistico follows with a tope. He's holding his left arm in tight to his body now. Volador gives Mephisto a top rope 'rana, and Sagrado almost slips on a springboard moonsault but lands it for the fall.

Mistico's still down and being checked on by everyone, including the doctor. It's his left shoulder, of course. It seems like he can get it straight across, but not higher than that. He's still hurting as he'd helped back in the ring.

3: Sagrado starts the fall, and blows a rebound double armdrags. Mephisto, Ephesto and he recover, but it's one of those moments he has from time to time. Averno and Volador. Wait, no, Averno wants Mistico. No, Averno now wants to leave. We end up with Volador coming back in (because he's got two working arms - Mistico can't even hold the ropes with his left one at the moment) against Ephesto for the usual run. Mephisto and Averno fear no better. Mistico in, but he wants Averno, and only Mephisto and Ephesto are coming in. Lots of standing and arguing. Mistico decides to fight Ephesto, and gets no where before he's kicked by Mephisto form the outside. Sage bump to the mat. Mistico hits a swinging enziguri on Mephisto while he's posing, ducks a Ephesto clothesline, gets flipped to the apron, kicked Mephisto out from there, springboards back in with an armdrags on Ephesto - and that's the end of him, since he came down on that left shoulder for the armdrag. He grabs it and rolls all the way to the floor in a lot of pain. Pain seems to be getting worse, actually. Volador, a ref, and the doctor check on him. The match comes to a standstill for a moment, and then the rudos rush the tecnicos. Averno attacks Volador and (fakes) stomps on Mistico, despite the referee warning. When that's no good, Averno goes for Mistico's mask and does get it off. There's a DQ there, and there should be a DQ as Mephisto punts Volador low, though I don't think the refs looking right at it called anything. Well, it's a DQ regardless. Mephisto cover, as if they're going to count. Mistico's in a lot of pain AND he's not no mask. Replay shows the mask yank and the foul happened at the same exact time, that's something.

Averno's asked about a mask match with Mistico, but he loses his mind when the crowd all chants Mistico. Mistico sorta vanishes here - there must've been a clip when he was carted out.
