CMLL GdR FSE - 05/27/07 (#42)
Recapped: 05/31/07

Intro: Maximo previews his match while sitting in the third row and watching the opener. Magadan and Julio take over from there, to talk about the main event. Atlantis does the pre-match promo for his team. If Magadan would move two cm his right, I'd be able to watch the opener instead of paying any attention this. Astro Boy needs to move soon. Let me quote Ultimo Dragon's promo in it's entirety:

"Luchador Mexicanos: arriba Japon!"

Seriously, what is the deal with him? It's got to be a some sort of bit. Magadan makes fun of Dragon's Spanish and sits down with Maximo to watch the main event.

Feature: Negro Casas at home.

Match 1: Ephesto, Pierroth (c), Canek Jr. vs Felino (c), Maximo, Tigre Metalico
Arena Coliseo, 05/20/07

  1. tecnicos
  2. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-0)
Match Time: 9:57
Approx Rating: So not good.
Other Match Notes: Why can't Felino be involved in anything cool? Canek Jr. replaces Hijo de Pierroth, who's off in another country being wacky. Tigre Metalico is replacing La Mascara, who's hurt. I think Tigre has new music. Maximo has Monito with him and gives shoves to the valets on his way to the ring. Maximo talks about Pierroth in his promo. That's not a match I want to see. THIS is not a match I want to see! Pierroth's promo starts with a long laugh, and for a second I think that's all we're getting.

1: We pick up with Metalico and Ephesto on the mat, for a good 30 seconds before Ephesto wants out. Tags to Maximo and Pierroth. Pierroth wants nothing to do with Maximo, and makes sure the crowd is clear on that. Pierroth gets 100% on Maximo, and then the beatdown starts, so Maximo gets in nothing. Canek Jr. does a terrible headbutt on Felino, though it's mostly because Felino is reeling back from impact before Canek even gets there. Rudos run all the tecnicos out of the ring, and decide to go after Monito rather than try to pin someone. Luckily, Felino comes back into protect Monito and they work over him some more. Maximo's brought in and held for some chops. Tiger's beat up some more. Triple boot. Hey, perhaps you want to go for a pin here? Felino back in for a neck vice. Now they're just kicking him. You want to stop this, anyone? No. Ah, they're going for the triple dropkick, two get yanked out, and Felino backdrops Canek Jr. Why is the beatdown and the comeback happening in the first fall? Corner charges on Ephesto, with a jumping butt bump into Ephesto's groin. Hey, a cover and a pin! Corner whip for Canek Jr., and he gets the same treatment - nah, Maximo fakes him out and blows a kiss instead. Felino suplexes Canek Jr. for the pin. Pierroth comes in after the fact to get to take corner charges as well, but we see replays instead. Monito gets his revenge in here.

2: Felino and Monito pretend to be airplanes. Why not. Seems like we get a clip again here, and pick up with Ephesto in control on Metalico. Metalico ends up coming back with a backbreaker on the floor. Maximo and Canek Jr., nothing special here. Canek goes in with a dropkick, so Ephesto comes in, and goes out with an armdrags. Pierroth shows no interest in coming, so Maximo can do his dive roll pose. Felino and Pierroth next. Pierroth wants a shake. Felino's not sure about it, but ends up taking it - hug! And then Pierroth chops him. Pierroth takes armdrags! He's good for tow pier match. He's no so much good for running, as his slow corner charge shows. Felino slaps Pierroth in the back, goes for a La Majistral, shoves himself off - Pierroth never actually tries to block it, Felino just acts as if something happened. Felino turns around, the refs look at the corners for no reason, and so of course Pierroth fouls him. Cover for three.

And then Tiger Hispano raises Felino's arm. I totally must've been distracted the first time, because it was only when they came back from break to introduce the next match that I realized this match must've have ended.

Match 2: Atlantis (c), Ultimo Guerrero, Olimpico vs Minoru Suzuki, Takayama, Ultimo Dragon (c)
Arena Coliseo, 05/20/07

  1. Japan
  2. Mexico
  3. Mexico

Winner: Mexico (2-1)
Match Time: 14:36
Approx Rating: Sketch comedy
Other Match Notes: Magadan tries to interview Takayama and Suzuki, but Takayama prefers to grab Magadan by the lapels and yell at him. Magadan points out that he may want to look at the camera while he's ranting. He's so much awesome. Minoru's promo gets clipped - what? I don't even know. Olimpico does the promo for the Guerreros? Boooooooo. No entrances, even though we would seem to have an extra amount of time with no third fall in the first match. Dragon's so thrilled to be on this team, he's hanging out in a neutral corner.

1: Minoru scares women in the front row. Dragon and Guerrero start with clean mat wrestling, which ticks off Minoru. Dragon gets to crowd to chant at Minoru, then tells Takayama and Minoru to just stay in the corner while he's wrestling here. They relent. Dragon gets in one corkscrew headscissors takedown, and Takayama and Minoru storm the ring and stomp down Guerrero. Dragon's annoyed with his partners, but I'm not sure who he'd like to team with anyway. Dragon wastes time starting chants, so Guerrero gets up and attacks Takayama. That goes badly. Dragon yanks Guerrero away from them and works him in over in a neutral corner as Atlantis and Olimpico jump in the ring and do - nothing, huh. That felt like the start of the beatdown, but Minoru and Takayama didn't come in right away, and the Mexicans just kinda stared them at bay. Meanwhile, Dragon slams Guerrero and climbs for a moonsault, but of course Takayama and Suzuki yank him away stomp him down. NOW the Mexican s rush in again, and the beatdown starts. Well, 2 out of 3. Dragon just kinda walks out. Takayama gives Guerrero a back suplex, and UG sits up and calmly watches Takayama run at him with a big knee smash to the chest. Meanwhile, Minoru uses an illegal choke on Olimpico.

Evil Monkey thinks it's a wise idea to jump on Takayama. Catch, sat down, running Suzuki overhead chop doesn't come within five feet of hitting Ultimo Monito, and he still sells it. Minoru does end up slapping him to the ground, but I don't know if that hit either.

Vignette: Tigre Blanco and Tony Rivera discuss Rivera taking a monkey flip dive to the floor.

2: Beatdown goes on, despite Dragon being MIA and the other side having two men. Olimpico appears to wander away at some point, while UG is getting punched in the head millions of times. Ah, Dragon and Olimpico end up fighting on the outside. UG rallies back off screen, and then gets slapped back down. So that's great. Dragon is trying to work his own unique match with Olimpico, but his partners interrupt, just to be annoying. It's working. Match just randomly turns back into a two on one with UG versus the two evil Japanese. Dragon's decided he's going in his own corner. Tide turns when Suzuki holds UG for a boot, and UG ducks it instead. That sends Minoru out, but Takayama won't go down, not even to an Atlantis missile dropkick. Atlantis and Ultimo grab him, force him into the ropes, and Evil Monkey throws powder in his face! Double clothesline, everyone covers, one two three. Ultimo Dragon runs directly into a Atlántida, and that's the fall. Olimpico posts Monito for good measure.

Vignette: Tigre Blanco talks about his Asai Moonsault.

3: Takayama steals the ring card to pose with it instead. Dragon tries to tell his teammates to please stay out of the ring while he's having his nice clean wrestling match, but UG interrupts to tell them "Bring it on, [expletive deleted]!" I may have taken creative license there, but I think the gist is right. Dragon changes his mind and tells Minoru and Takayama to come in, but has to redirect them to go after UG, not himself. Where the heck is Hirooki Goto anyway? Was this some politics thing? I could've lived without Dragon here. Minoru teases coming in and he and Atlantis get into it. Olimpico gets in a cheap shot, which brings in Takayama, and Atlantis reacts like you might expect when he's got a guy 150% his size rushing in to boot him. The idea here appears to do a Mexican beatdown, but Minoru and Takayama take some time get adjusted to the idea. (Dragon stands in the ring, does nothing.) Triple boot for Takayama. Corner clothesline and UG's handstand sit for Minoru. Minoru starts to sell it, and then turns and smiles directly into the camera. A toothy grin. This match, I dunno. Crowd want to see it again (the sit, not the smile), so Takayama takes the corner clotheslines and the sit. UG asks the crowd if they want to see it do Dragon. Dragon's not liking that idea. Huddle dance instead. Everyone by Dragon and UG leaves the ring, and so they have their usual match. Atlantis tries to help, and that goes as well as ever. Of course, Suzuki runs into help and grab UG, but Dragon isn't down with this idea for whatever reason. Takayama encourages Dragon to hit UG already, and when Dragon's in no hurry, Takayama whips him at UG. Dragon tries a dropkick, of course Ultimo Guerrero moves, and Minoru takes it. Dragon is shocked and amazed. Takayama holds UG and waves and Dragon to hit him. Of course, Dragon takes forever and ends up dropkicking Takayama. Dragon's really screwing his team here. Olimpico, who is indeed actually in this match, tries a pescado onto Takayama and Minoru, but they catch him. Atlantis kinda sorta knocks them over with one of his own. Dragon and Guerrero left in - wait no, Ultimo Monito runs in and grabs Dragon so we can have one more held spot gone wrong. After UG boots his mini, Dragon charges him, UG takes him down, cradle, feet on the ropes, Olimpico and Atlantis holding the feet, one two three.

We've got about ten minutes left in the show, and normally I'd be upset about the main event not going longer. Normally. Hahaha, everyone stomps down Ultimo Dragon! Oh crap, Dragon makes a 1 on 5.6 comeback! Hilariously, the producer get is paying no attention and bails to replays before Dragon's done.

Vignette: UG talks about his headstand sit.

After a break, it looks like the combined forces of evil have  run Dragon out of the building, so they go back to pose together in the ring. Ultimo explains that he's, in fact, on another level. UG still wants Dragon's mask. He also wants to walk to the back without getting jumped by two dozen kids, but that's not happening either.
