AAA Mini Line - 05/26/07 (#626)
Recap:
06/01/07

The name of this show is either Homenaje A Una Leyenda Octagon or Zone de Guerrera. Or both.

Hey, it's an Octagon tribute show. It's only been three months since our last one. The best part is the family photo, with Octagon's masked head photo-shopped onto his unmasked face.

Four sided ring for this taping. Two matches cut out of the taping, which means it must've stretched forever or we're getting a lot of filler.

Previously: the Vipers teamed up with the Foreign Legion, so Chessman made the save for Zorro.

Vignette: actual footage of the paintballing! I'm not sure if this is a worked paintball fight - wait, Mini Chessman and Mini Psicosis do SPOTS, so I guess that's it.

Interview: Antifaz and Histeria are WALKING to the ring and being interviews by Jesus Z. They're gonna beat up those kids - the Air Force kids, I believe. Hey, look who they happened to run into, Super Fly and Laredo Kid. The two teams yells, and then Alan Stone and Zumbido show up mostly just to laugh in a cocky manner. Air Force get the microphone back for a half second before Gran Apache and Super Calo show up for their turn. Everyone nearly assault Jesus to get to the microphone, but don't actually getting fighting among themselves.

Match 1: Antifaz, Histeria vs Laredo Kid, Super Fly vs Alan Stone, Zumbido vs Gran Apache, Super Calo
Polideportivo de la Universidad Autonoma del Edo, Hidalgo, 04/27/07

Winner: Fuerza Aerea
Match Time: 14:34
Notes: They're working this like a gauntlet match - two sets of teams at a time, so that up there is the order of entry - coincidently, the same exact order they appeared in that last segment. First two teams start in the ring, no entrances. Pepe Casas is your ref.

Vipers vs Fuerza Aerea: Immediate clip. Why does everyone hate the start of falls? Do they just figure out how much time they have for the match, and work backwards from the finish? Because we immediately get seconds of dead time while the crowd gets on the Vipers and the Vipers gets annoyed. Histeria hangs Laredo Laredo in Antifaz's Styles Clash, adds a dropkick (not close) and Antifaz finishes the move. Kick to the front/back combo, and Super Fly comes into take his turn. Corner clotheslines for him. Double press and drop. Double face slam. No attempt at a pin. Double dropkick. Posing while Super Fly rolls out and Laredo rolls in. Stomps. Is the hard camera not working? Laredo takes a back flip on a clothesline. Very delayed pin - oh, he's just setting up a Laredo back bridge. Histeria ends up getting a slingshot reverse DDT which looks very bad and co-operative. Super Fly back in. Double kick, Antifaz front suplex, Histeria flipping legdrop, cover, one two Antifaz pulls him up because he really never wants to win a match. I don't think he understand the concept here - wouldn't you want to win as fast as possible? Why don't they just do kickouts? Vipers powerbomb by Air Force guys and head up. Double frog splash, one two and they pull them up. This match has NO HEAT and I'm done with it till the Vipers are gone. Actually, it lasted two more spots, so I guess I can finish it out - Vipers go for top rope moves (the tope con giros no one actually hits besides Apache) and miss again, and the Fuerza Aerea guys win on German suplexes, the only moves they get in during the match. Laredo Kid had his shoulders down too, but Super Fly had his up so I guess that's good enough. Why are the high flying guys winning on a power move? Crowd does pop for the sudden victory.

The Guapos music immediately starts playing, but we get a break before more action. Alan and Zumbido take their time checking out Alan's mirror, but dump the gear on the stage and rush the ring.

Guapos vs Fuerza Aerea: Hey, an opening bell. Fuerza Aerea goes right back to being beatdown, though the Guapos seem to be in a slight more hurry about it. Usual stuff. Guapos press slam Laredo Kid to the floor, which is a DQ in some parts but apparently not today. Super Fly evades a corner charge 1:45 in to start the comeback. Their turn to get in a lot of 2 on 1, but we look at the crowd instead, and by the time we're back at the match, the Guapos are back in control. I have no idea what happened there, but it seemed like a clip. Zumbido gets in the double jump plancha on Laredo, Alan gets in the springboard plancha on Super Fly. Zumbido brings in Super Fly, and they both flip a lot, but Super Fly wins for sure with a handspring moonsault plancha! He pulled that one off easily. Alan and Laredo go thru the usual sunset flip reversal spots, and eventually get to a Laredo Kid 450 splash. He hit that one clean, and got the three - Alan kicked out immediately after. Guess we only need one pin here, because that's it. Fuerza Aerea are exhausted, while Alan seemed upset at Zumbido for not breaking up the pin somehow.

Break.

More paintball.

El Apache & Super Calo vs Fuerza Aerea: They pass Alan and Zumbido on their way out, and Zumbido and Apache have words. Calo is awful fired out. He must be thrilled about a regular TV role. FUERZA AEREA DOUBLE TOPE! I guess they're not so tired after all. They pull Gran Apache in as we see replays, and as soon as we're back, Fuerza Aerea is getting beatdown again. Super Fly gets a front slam and a double jump splash by Calo. Looks like Laredo has already taken a beatdown, so we're talking another clip. How long was this taping if everyone's getting clipped and we're missing 1/3rds of it? Laredo takes an inverted press slam, as the announcers explain the Stone family tree. Laredo tries to roll to freedom, but gets brought back for a Gran Apache lands the top rope tope con giro and GOES FOR A COVER. I'm sorry Chessman, but Gran Apache is the greatest man in AAA. Super Fly breaks it up with a dropkick. Calo works over Super Fly in the corner. Apache grabs his head, and then smacks Super Fly in the head to make him feel better. Super Fly gets tossed around, and (almost) lands a springboard armdrag to turn it around. Laredo comes in with a springboard dropkick to knock Apache out. Fuerza Aerea left alone in the ring and doing - nothing, which the crowd is not so down with. They expected wacky dive, but they just settled it down to Super Fly and Gran Apache. Super Fly tricks Apache throwing himself out of the ring, but takes a quebrada from Calo. One two NO. Calo's unhappy with that count, but not so interested in following up, as he tosses Super Fly to the floor. I guess it helps that Apache is bringing Laredo Kid in, but Laredo turns it around with a hiptoss reversed into a dropkick, Laredo gets flipped to the apron, and swept off by Apache before he can springboard. Calo goes for a dive, but Pepe Casas actually shoves him in mid dive and messes him up, causing him to roll over the ropes and to the floor. That, and Laredo Kid's long gone too. Gran Apache gets in a justified argument with Pepe Casas, while Laredo Kid is back in the ring - Laredo just barely lands the springboard, but recovers for a nice tornillo. He's lucky he didn't hurt an ankle on that, but he IS lucky. Super Fly and Gran Apache are left in the ring, and Apache gets the edge by sending Super Fly into the turnbuckle. Garn Apache stops to pose on the top rope, and Super Fly pulls him off with an armdrags. Apache misses a clothesline, Super Fly tries a bodyscissors, counts and counters lead to a small package, one two THREE. Gran Apache is sure he got his shoulder up there.

Why is that cameraman running ot the back? I'm probably not supposed to notice that. Fuerza Aerea pose, and get punked out by Gran Apache and Super Calo. That's not very nice of them. Rudos clear them out of the ring with slaps and headbutts.

There's some more clipping here, because the Fuerza Aerea go from being down on the floor to being in a fight with La Secta backstage. It does not go well for the people who won 3 matches already. El Mesais and Konnan gleefully watch as 3 beats 2 quite easily. This is all quite weird, because even though Gran Apache and Super Calo left the ring first, somehow they're the last to wander on this scene. Apache and Calo freak out about this apparent evident of time travel - well, that's what I'm assuming anyway. La Sect attacks them as well, and leave everyone out laying. They lave, and La Parka Jr. arrives to check on everyone - his music plays?

Sometime Else, I Presume: People may be existing in two places at once at this point, I can't be quite sure. Anyway, Cibernetico and La Parka Jr. have a meeting backstage. This one include yelling, but they get along well for them. I think Parka is warning Cibernetico about what just went down. Handshake and STARE at the camera.

Interview: Octagon is interviews in front of ladders in an oddly lit backstage room. I guess their order for a chain link fence and oil drums has not yet come in. We need some clangy poles! I was promised clangy poles! Octagon talks about his match which is next and has 0.000000000000000000000000000% chance of working out.

Interview: Fuerza Guerrera & Pirata Morgan - same set. Fuerza promises to be a professional. (As long as being professional means attacking Juvi.)

Match 2: Fuerza Guerrera, Octagon, Pirata Morgan, Super Porky vs Alebrije, Mr. Niebla, Juventud Guerrera, Scorpio Jr. in a parajes incredible match
Polideportivo de la Universidad Autonoma del Edo, Hidalgo, 04/27/07

Winner: No one AT ALL
Match Time: 15:19
Notes: This is going to be a whole bunch of people not getting along. No entrances, no one really liking being on these teams. We do get introductions - it sounds like Juvi's on the opposite team than we had orginally lited (which would put Fuerza with Octagon.) Shoving lead to more shoving means to everyone fighting with no clear idea who's supposed to be where - they could've used a graphic here. Copetes is the ref. Porky tells everyone to stop - so he can chop everyone, including himself. And then they all attack him, including Copetes. So they all attack Copetes. Is everyone going to go to their corners now? No, because they don't know the teams, it seems. We get people going to all four corners, and it makes less sense from there, though the sides seem to be as listed.

Porky/Pirata, Niebla/Alebrije, Fuerza/Juvi. Juvi's fired up to face his dad. Fuerza dominates him, sets him down in one corner, and goes to the complete opposite corner as if he's going to dive on him. And then he just sorta slips off the corner and falls down. I guess Juvi got the ropes? It wasn't made clear. Juvi follows him with a Pescado. Scorpio/Octagon. Niebla/Alebrije. No, Niebla/Pirata. They're kinda working this like it's a four team tag match, wit ht tecnicos and rudos sticking on each team to their own corners. Fuerza/Alebrije. Fuerza is not impressed by Cuije. Alebrije's all the sudden mad when he hits Cuije, what did he think he was going to do? He was in the wrestling ring, being annoying. Of course Cuije ends up getting his revenge. Juvi/Alebrije, which is just Juvi blowing up Alebrije. Porky/Scorpio. They're using a ringside camera a lot, and it's starting up into the lights. When the wrestlers hit the ropes, they occasionally bounce in the path of the lights, causing this weird strobe affect for people watching at home. Pirata/Alebrije, with Porky trying to break up a pin - ooh, wait, was he actually helping? Well, now Pirata slams him, so I have no idea. Just when I think it's a four man tag, Fuerza and Octagon work together on Scorpio Jr. Scorpio gives up to a double submission, huh.

I guess we're not doing one pinfall to the end, because the match goes on, with Octagon and Fuerza fighting. I dunno. They both end up out, and we get Niebla and Porky, Porky flattening Niebla with an apron plancha. Shouldn't Niebla be out? Pirata/Juvi, Juvi gets a near fall on a cradle and it sure looks like three but it's not supposed to, so Pirata's late reversal counts; he hooks the ropes for his own pin and only gets 2. Copetes takes a bump, but we're looking at the crowd. He takes his time getting back up, so Pirata get sin a low blow stomp. As Pirata turns to get Copetes, Juvi retaliates with a low blow of his own. Copetes turns around, sees both of them selling fouls and claiming the other one did it, and calls a DDQ. If this is a four way tag, that would seem to mean Octagon & Porky wins, but we're clearly supposed to treat this as a draw. I dunno. Unsatisfying.

Before this really can be explained, Histeria, Antifaz, Ozz, Cuervo, and Escoria run out and attack the tecnicos. Abismo Negro in his role as Not the Leader, watches from the stage with Konnan. Fuerza, Scorpio and Pirata are left alone despite seemingly not being allied with the rest of this megagroup. Pirata's still selling the low blow, so maybe that's it - Scorpio helps him up and out.

After a break, Fuerza, Scorpio and Pirata do exit, while the the tecnicos get worked over. The old rudos are congratulated by Abismo and Konnan, so I guess they're all on the same side here. The Vipers and Sect pose on the stage, except Mr. Niebla disappeared somewhere around here. Ah, there he is - apparently he threw Cuije into the third row, which we only get on a replay. Tecnicos group and pose in the ring.

Homenaje A Una Leyenda Octagon: Octagon credits Pena for coming up with the name and look for him. "Ninja" is said. His saddest day is when his father died.

Noti AAA:
-
AAA did their annual outdoors show for Kid's Day
- Cibernetico was seen eating a hanging out with a blond women who isn't his significant other. That's going around.
- AAA has high flies
- Konnan says he's the biggest star and Mesias is the best wrestler in Mexico. They're going to show Cibernetico and the Hell Brother sin the cage match. They're not worried about the clowns and the freaks.
- The Legion and the Vipers on the same side, we've heard.

interview: Mexican Powers cut a promo on the ladder set.. They're wearing camouflage because it's a warzone, you know. They dance to music which is not actually played, which is great

Hey, here's high spots from the match before you actually see them in the match. break .

Match 3: Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz vs Crazy Boy, Joe Lider, Psicosis II in a ladder match
Polideportivo de la Universidad Autonoma del Edo, Hidalgo, 04/27/07

Winner: La Secta
Match Time: 12:40
Other Match Notes: They're not climbing for anything, this is just a ladder match to have ladders involved. As opposed to the other matches where ladders just happened to get involved.

Just a sequence of random ladder spots, a homage to matches better than this. The spots weren't forced together as bad as they could've, but spots is all they were. The ladders were really cheap - they bended a lot on any significant impact, which may be for the best. Escoria ended up giving Lider foul and a middle rope fireman's carry slam thru a ladder to end it. Vipers walks down to the ring to congratulate the Sect post match, as Abismo again hung out with Konnan, but this time had his spray can of fire to entertain himself.

Interview: Zorro. This doesn't work so well. Many questions, no answers. We're still supposed to be running if he'll join the Legrion of the Hell Brothers.

Interview: El Mesias vows to take out Cibernetico.

Interview: Elegido, who was wearing a scary monster mask and promising to be a dangerous dancer tonight. He actually replies to Abismo before we get to Abismo's bit.

Interview: Abismo Negro talks about the alliance between the Vipers and the Legion, to destroy Elegido and Cibernetico. He's also in Latin Lover's head.

Hey, is Chessman in this match? Why no Chessman promo? And no one talks about him either.

Match 4: Mesias vs Abismo Negro vs Chessman vs Elegido vs Zorro vs Elegido in a cage match
Polideportivo de la Universidad Autonoma del Edo, Hidalgo, 04/27/07

Loser: Mesias
Match Time: 20:45
Other Match Notes: Yea, there's Chessman, entering first. He climbs up the cage to enter it, of course. Abismo's out second. Fire in a can. No one starts fighting. Elegido is out next. He still dances. Zorro. Mesias. Cibernetico gets mobbed by kids. Cibernetico finds that women from lunch earlier now in the crowd, and gives her a kiss on the forehead. Huh. Mesias makes a point of going over there and kissing her too, but Cibernetico doesn't see it, so he does it a second time.

Match is already in progress as we return. There's tables and chairs in the cage, of course. Tecnicos in control. People switch around fights and seem to d little to keep out of each other's way. Elegido tries to sneak out, but Chessman pulls him back down. Abismo tries to leave, but Elegido gets him. Mesias tries to escape, but Zorro grabs him. Elegido tries to leave again, and of course his trunks get pulled. And again. And they stay down as he's on top of the cage. Abismo got kicked away, so Elegido is free - a bit too free, but he eventually fixes his tights.

Zorro makes a run for it as the others fight, but then stops on the way up to look around, which is the signal for Abismo to pull  him. Looks like Elegido is hanging around ringside to talk to Zorro. Mesias tries to escape and takes a big powerbomb from Cibernetico. A bit later, Mesias tries powerbombing Zorro while backed up to the cage, and Zorro grabs the cage and escapes.

Slow spots continue. There's reactions for the teases, but not for the moves in the ring. Chessman chokes out Abismo with a chair for a while. Zorro's watching from outside the cage. Cibernetico and Chessman set up the table that's been left in the ring the whole time. Abismo tries to escape, but Chessman pulls him down and kicks him. Cibernetico sets up Abismo on the table, and Chessman climbs up, looking back the whole time. Cibernetico holds Abismo in place, but Mesias recovers and breaks that up. Chessman drops down, takes care of Mesias, and takes care of Abismo when he tries to leave. Lots of battling in corners. Mesias tries to leave, but he's stopped by Chessman once, only for Chessman to knock him off. Mesias breaks free, climbs to the top - and drops Chessman with a plancha. Cibernetico goes after Mesias, and Abismo tries to climb out, but trips and crotches himself. Cibernetico spears Mesias, and he and Chessman reposition the table again. Abismo is knocked own in the corner, and Mesias is set up on the table. Chessman climbs up as Cibernetico keeps Abismo in place. Mesias is moving on the table before Chessman's even half way up, but Chessman can't see him and I guess Cibernetico doesn't. Chessman does a top of the cage moonsault (!) but Mesias moves out of the way and Chessman goes thru the table on his own. Cibernetico checks on him, and is immediately beaten up by the rudos. Abismo get to use his can of fire. Abismo works over Chessman a bit as Cibernetico is held in the corner, but doctors and officials enter the cage thru the door, to put Cibernetico on a stretcher and carry him out. How are they going him back out thru the door on a stretcher? Mesias beats Chessman with a piece of the table as he being stretchered out. The people carrying him ask him to stop, so he hits one of them, and they completely no sell it. They are able to slide Chessman out, so never mind.

2 on Cibernetico, but that turns when Abismo tries a really ill planned out frog splash. Cibernetico and Mesias knock each other down with clotheslines, and Konnan's music plays. He leads the Vipers and the Sect down to ringside, with Elegido and Zorro preparing to fight them all off.  La Parka Jr.'s music hits, and he's got his own forces (Octagon, Super Porky, Gran Apache, Super Calo, Alebrije, Mexican Powers, Air Force, probably more) to engage in a very slow speed chase around the ring. Juvi, of course, is wandering by himself to pose. Everyone makes a complete circle around the ring, and then to the back. It's a wacky parade, really

Action resumes in the ring after that sorta intermission, with most of the tecnicos staying at ringside. Cibernetico makes his comeback, spearing Abismo but focusing on Mesias. Abismo decides it's a good to get while the getting is good, but stops to taunt Cibernetico as he gets to the top. Cibernetico does come after him, but it's a bit to late, and Mesias pulls him back. Mesias is under the impression that Abismo is coming back, but Abismo's no one's fool.

Crowd chants for Mexico, but Mesias is the one in control, working over Cibernetico with a chair. Mesias climbs up to the top of the cage, gets one leg over, and decides to come back. More chairshots, and Mesias climbs some more. Zorro climbs an adjacent corner, and apparently this convinces Mesias to go back. Maybe he just wanted to get more. Mesias gets in yet more chair shots - and Zorro throws his cane back in. Mesias has no idea, and turns right into a cane shot to the head form Cibernetico. Chokeslam! The mystery women approves. Cibernetico climbs up, one left over, posing, both legs over.

Cibernetico gets a microphone. Juvi wanders over to in front of Mesias to give him crotch chops. I dunno. Cibernetico calls Zorro in the ring. He's happy for the assist, but wants to know if Zorro's with him or against him. Zorro takes off his mask, which gets a big reaction. He looks very little like he did before he had the mask on. Zorro gives Cibernetico the mask, and a hug. Cibernetico says anyone who's against Zorro is against the Hell Brothers.
