Contest: I think this week's deal is to count how many times you see the toy lucha ring or princesa outfit during the show.

Match 1: Euforia, Nosferatu, Satanico (c) vs Leono, Valiente, Virus (c)
Arena Mexico, 04/20/07

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:35
Approx Rating: Rudos didn't blow me away or in their debut, but they looked fine and good for a unit.
Other Match Notes: No entrances, though they're part of the open. There's no break before the first fall of this match, which is unusual. Euforia is the skinner, slightly taller one in purple. Nosferatu is in red. It's kinda tough to judge these guys sizes, because they're up against the three smallest non-mini tecnicos. The new guys seem like heavyweights in comparison, which means they're no bigger than light heavyweights.

1: Leono/Nosferatu to start the match on the mat, though they cut away for a few seconds to shill merchandise. Nosferatu is noteworthy here. Virus and Satanico yet, and Satanico's embraced being a rudo. He and Virus keep fighting each other off for lockups, and Satanico stops to have a quite word with his men. Satanico tries Leono again, gets armdragged, and the new kids rush the ring. They do a nice job of laying out the guys on the apron and beating down Virus. Double back elbow for Virus. Virus takes a kick, front suplex, and a double elbow drop, (though Nosferatu is shown not to come close to hitting.) Valiente in and giving everyone a chest slap - if I'm going to be overcritizing everything, I should note Euforia sells his good - but Nosferatu ducks under and catches Valiente a full nelson, and this it for him. Euforia ends up taking off Valiente's head with a clothesline. Leono in, and they figure out that throwing him by his hair looks really good, so that's why they do. He's whipped into a Euforia plancha, Euforia skips pinning, and we get a triple submission pose instead. Virus comes in, but is quickly sent out since he's the captain and they still want to beat up Valiente. Euforia puts Valiente in a full nelson, Satanico picks up Valiente's legs and twists, and Nosferatu stops Virus from coming in. That's the fall.

Maximo wishes everyone Happy Kid's Day. (break)

Diana la Cazadora wishes everyone Happy Kid's Day. There are polar shifts here.

2: Beatdown moves on, Virus getting beat. They're taken the Pandilla's "rest a guy over the top rope, and have two guys hit flying axhandles to the midsection" triple team. Leono is choked with his own bandana. For some reason, the referees don't like this. I'm shocked. Euforia has a good running clothesline. Satanico adds his running back elbow, and then Leono is whipped out into a spear quite nicely. These guys came to Arena Mexico prepared, because they have their stuff down. Valiente in again, and Valiente has to be a tecnico forever because he's great trying to slap and chop his way out of a 1 on 3. If this Virus turn sticks, I hope we get matches between Valiente and him soon. Valiente ducks a double clothesline, which gets Nosferatu instead, sends him out (slowly). Valiente gets Satanico with a dropkick, but Euforia drops him with a boot. Valiente figures back with a chop, but Euforia boots him too. Corner whip - and Valiente instead does the double jump moonsault to the floor, taking out Nosferatu Leono takes out Euforia with a 'rana, jumps to the apron, and lands a top rope Asai Moonsault. That looked good. Virus and Satanico left in. Satanico misses a clothesline, Virus gives him a drop toe hold, starts the La Majistral, loses Satanico's arm somehow, recovers to take down Satanico as he gets up and put on a stretch muffler instead. That'll do.

3: Rudos regroup on the outside before starting. Satanico decides to start with Virus and wants a handshake. He won't give it, so Satanico points makes short jokes and they get in a shoving match. Satanico gets in a shoulderblock,  and escapes an armdrags, but Virus gets him with another and dropkicks him out. Satanico ends up stumbling around on the outside. Valiente does a top rope front flip on the way in - that's a way to kill your knees. Euforia runs him over with a back elbow, way to go. Euforia works over Valiente in one corner, corner whip, charge, and right into Valiente boots. Valiente runs into a flip, but lands on his feet. hops to Euforia's shoulders, and spins into an armdrags out. Valiente sets up for a dive, Euforia bails, Valiente switches to a leaning flip over the ropes and to the floor, manages to reverse a kick catch to a back flip, and gives Euforia tilt-a-whirl a backbreaker on the floor. He's pumped. Leono and Nosferatu. Nosferatu's first exchange leading to a clothesline doesn't look good. Crowd boos when Leono gets a headscissors out out of a hammerlock (that was odd.) Nosferatu out, and Leono flattens him with a pescado. Valiente and Satanico in. Valiente kinda ignores Satanico's back elbow, so Satanico kinda ignores Valiente's running reverse tope try. Euforia come in help, and they whip him into Virus as he comes in. Satanico and Euforia put Valiente in the full nelson with a twist submission, while Nosferatu uses Satanico's standing figure four nudo pin on Virus. That's the match.

Damian 666 and Mr. Aguila.

Match 2: Atlantis, Black Warrior (c), Ultimo Guerrero vs Lizmark Jr., Mistico (c), Rey Bucanero
Arena Coliseo, 04/22/07

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:41
Approx Rating: Fun, though not special.
Other Match Notes: Rey Bucanero cuts the pre-match promo; odd, they usually have different guys cut the promo. Black Warrior is the best dressed man ever in his white Tuxedo jacket, bowtie and hat, and usual skirt. Guerreros have Dark Monkey with them. Atlantis uses his pre-match promo to with everyone a happy Kid's Day, naturally. No Monito!

1: Fight breaks out immediately after the open, and we might have a small clip in there. Mistico takes the GdI sit, is thrown out, and Dark Monkey Asai Moonsaults him! Bucanero in and held in a drop toe hold by Ultimo for the other two to kick in the head. Rey's quickly suspended over Ultimo's knees for Warrior's guillotine legdrop, and that's it for him. Lizmark brought in but held in the corner as Mistico gets taken care of. Warrior follows him out to boot him around. Ultimo gets in the headstand sit on Lizmark, who actually gets a chant. And then, next time we see him, in between Warrior beating up Mistico, he's pinned. Warrior beats up Mistico on the outside.

Princesa Sujei.

2: We're back to the big "2" for the second fall, since Warrior broke the real one last week. As the card girl walks towards the ring, Warrior's beating Mistico up near the seats. Warrior gives the girl a look, the girl knows what Warrior is thinking and doesn't like it, Warrior decides he's going to do it anyway, and steals replacement 2nd fall card. Warrior is disappointed to find it's only cardboard, but hitting Mistico with stuff is still hitting Mistico with stuff. Even when it bends on impact. Warrior is nice enough to bend it back into shape, and walk around holding it up like he's the ring girl before giving it back to her. Someone in here, the fall actually started.

Guerreros work over Bucanero in the ring. Rey's not wearing the vest this week, but the denim warrior is wearing jeans and a shirt. He tries to get cheers, but ends up getting clothesline, and held down for Dark Monkey to stomp. Rey gets up fine, gives the monkey a look, and the monkey runs for his life. Ultimo backdrops him to the top turnbuckle, Atlantis slams Rey, and Dark Monkey moonsaults Rey (sorta.) Dark Monkey can't beat Tzuki, he's got longer arms and legs. Rey tries to grab at the monkey and can't ever quite get him, so apparently that's a feud. Lizmark gets to the apron, thinks about going in, and does NOT go in! So is he turning now, this time for sure? Mistico goes in instead, and gets beat up, but evades a Warrior splash, and it's the normal backflipping over a double clothesline comeback. Lizmark does come in to superkick Atlantis, so maybe he's just not down with getting beat up. Mistico takes out Warrior with a tornillo, and stand three feet from the monkey, but the monkey ain't missing with Mistico. Warrior and Mistico stay out while the other four finish up the fall, quite instantly once Atlantis gets back in the ring.

Rey wants to go after the monkey, and it looks like he will for a moment, but I guess he gets away  - they cut away to the rudos and the monkey is gone when they look back at the ring. Rudos hang out with the front row guys between falls. Warrior tries to rush Mistico on the floor, Mistico ducks and superkicks him, naturally.

Amapola.

3: 3rd fall sign is just a 3. Did they lose that one too, or were they just afraid Rey would do something. IN the ring, Rey is facing off with the Dark Monkey. Well, for a moment - Rey throws him to the floor. Fans tell him to do it again, but Ultimo drags his monkey to safety. Atlantis in. Lizmark in, and Mistico in. Atlantis wants Mistico to lave. Mistico thinks about Atlantis leaving, and the fans are okay with that. Lizmark convinces Mistico to leave, and then points out how tall he is. Atlantis gives him a not nice gesture. Lizmark raises his hand up for a test of strength, higher than Atlantis can reach. Atlantis grabs Lizmark's chest. Wrestling is so weird. Atlantis starts punching and kicking him, which is less weird. Lizmark covers up quickly - maybe Lizmark is not turning rudo, but he just has a low pain tolerance lately. Corner whip, Lizmark flips out to escape, Ultimo comes in and grabs him in a full nelson, Atlantis tries to add the clothesline, Lizmark ducks, but Atlantis holds up in time. Double chop to Lizmark instead. Of course, it's spinaroonie time. Lizmark off the ropes, plancha for both. Atlantis tries holding Lizmark, but of course h moves again and Ultimo dropkicks his partner. Lizmark superkicks Ultimo for good measure. Warrior in, Warrior superkicked! Lizmark tells Mistico to come in, and they have a face to face (well, face to chin) stareoff. HMMMMMM. Rey comes in and forces everyone to hug, but Lizmark and Mistico are still angry with each other. Mistico stares at Lizmark as he leaves, keeps starting  and gets punked out by the rudos. Being Mistico he fights off Ultimo and Atlantis with no problem and the usual spots. Both Atlantis and Ultimo gets sent out, and Warrior leaps in to face off. Both let the crowd getting going before Warrior gets in a back elbow. Corner whip, corner splash, but Mistico's long gone. Warrior runs into a drop toe hold and bounces onto the middle rope so hard that he bounces back off and falls in the ring. Warrior gets back in to position as Mistico is going for a 619, but Warrior actually moves back out of the way. Warrior gets in his own drop toe hold and his own 619! wheel kick knocks Mistico out of the ring, and Warrior dives on him with a apron tope con giro. Warrior fans are thrilled. The other four, and Rey's boosted up into a dropkick on both. They go out, tecnicos tease tope sand end up doing pescados instead. Everyone on the floor, but Warrior and Mistico head back in. Mistico's limping again. Mistico off the ropes, La Mistica, Warrior throws him off before he gets it locked on, Warrior snap mare, and he rips off the mask. Warrior turns and celebrates - but Mistico had another mask underneath his mask! Crowd loves it. Warrior is hocked, and Mistico immediately gets La Mistica.

Mistico wastes no time making belt motions. Rey helps take off the partially ripped mask, and Mistico goes back to making belt motions before replays. Mistico explains his brilliant plan and challenges Warrior to a title match. Warrior will do it next week - in Arena Mexico. Mistico talks about the match in a post-match interview, as children try to sneak up to him. I hope Mistico doesn't choose Lizmark as his cornerman! That's it.
