AAA Mini Line - 03/17/07 (#616)
Recapped: 08/23/07

Match 1: La Diabolica (c), Lola Gonzalez, Vicki Carrnaza vs La Hechicera, Linda Star, Martha Villalobos (c)
Plaza de Toros de Uruapan, Michoacan, 02/16/07

Winner: Rudos (via DQ, Diabolica faked that Martha pulled her mask)
Match Time: 7:43
Notes: I know Vicki and Lola are evil nuns. I don't know they're evil nuns. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to know. This is exactly what you'd figure it. Martha is amazingly immobile. I was kinda interesting in seeing how good Linda Star was, since I had a pretty strong impression of the other five, but this match wasn't going to help with that. Rudas were here to bump for Martha's stuff (and a little bit of La Hechicera), and Linda was here to take all the bumps the larger women could not. She got one dive in at the end, but that's about it. Ref bump AND a faked mask yank to end it. I don't exactly mind that we never got the hair/mask match here.

Match 2: Espiritu, Scoria vs Pegasso, Super Fly in an AAA Tag Team Tournament Match
Plaza de Toros de Uruapan, Michoacan, 02/16/07

Winner: tecnicos
Match Time: 5:17
Notes: They show highlights from the match before the show this match, which is always an odd way to go about things. This is a pretty fun match, one of the better tag team tournaments ones, up until Pegasso's dive (twisting tope con giro) Escoria gets near falls on Super Fly, but pulls him up both times, which is idiotic (Air Force isn't meant to be that far beneath them) and a clear signal about the finish. Super Fly indeed rallies to hit a tornillo splash for the winning pin, with Pegasso coming back into cover. The problem is the referee is Copetes, who's under the mistaken impression that doing long rudo three counts against tecnicos makes him or the wrestlers look good. Copetes holds up so long for the three count, Espiritu makes it in, realizes he's in way too soon, looks around, and acts confused for the crowd all between two and three. He couldn't have looked more dumb for not breaking up the pin. Espiritu and Scoria beat down Pegasso and Super Fly immediately after the match to get their heat back (in theory, anyway)

Interview: Alebrije (w/Cuije) talks about the match with the Mexican Powers. They note they already have a tag title. Is Cuije standing on a box for this? He's much taller for whatever reason.

Match 3: Alebrije, El Brazo vs Crazy Boy, Joe Lider in an AAA Tag Team Tournament Match
Plaza de Toros de Uruapan, Michoacan, 02/16/07

Winner: Mexican Powers
Match Time: 9:11
Other Match Notes: Brazo is doing a La Parka impersonation. Crazy Boy & Joe Lider do the rudo reaction spots with him for fun. Chairs get in play early, though it's not really the Mexican Powers who bring them in. Maybe it's because they're the ones who are going to want to take chair shots. Brazo teams works as rudos, Mexican powers get the comeback in 3 minutes. MPs teased beating up Cuije, but let him run free to his corner. Cuije challenges Joe Lider after he runs thru Brazo and Alebrije, including crotch chopping. Lider boots him down. Crazy Boy later teases pressing Cuije to the floor, but ends up spanking him. STUPIDEST THING EVER: Alebrije lets Joe Lider put his head in the back hole of a chair set up for sitting, and then Lider gives him a flying stomp to the head. (It may have meant to be a legdrop, but it wasn't.) Why would you agree to such a thing?  Thankfully, its 's the finish. You never really know with these guys. They do urgently rush out medical help, so there you go. Mexican Powers celebrate, not too concerned about crippling a man.

Noti AAA
- Arturo's doing all the bits this week
- La Parka Jr. and Cibernetico got into an argument on another show Arturo was on. They cut the promos in a ruin
- Last week, Fabi thought Billy Boy went too far - so he shoved her and went further. They're not on good terms now.
- Abismo Negro, still not a fan of Latin Lover. I like it when he cuts promos on "Randy" as well.

Interview: Pirata helped Fuerza beat up on Juvi and the Mexican Powers last week. He's happy about it.

Match 4: Sangre Chicana, Fuerza Guerrera, Pirata Morgan (c) vs Brazo de Plata Jr., Psicosis II (c), Tinieblas Jr.
Plaza de Toros de Uruapan, Michoacan, 02/16/07

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 11:17
Other Match Notes:
Psicosis announces Brazo de Plata Jr. and Tinieblas Jr. as surprise replacements for Juvi and whoever else is supposed to be in this match. Rudos met them in the aisle to fight. Total rudo beatdown, with Fuerza sneaking in his punt on Plata Jr. Plata Jr.'s mask gets ripped, and he gets fouled again when Copetes stops him from punching Fuerza, and Fuerza boots him. Tirantes gets his masked ripped here, and Psicosis heads to the back at some point. Just like in the women's match, the rudos get a team submission/pose on one member, and someone runs into break it up to start the comeback. It's Psicosis here, returning with chair in hand. Rudos end up rallying back, taking Psicosis' mask, and covering him for a quick count by Copetes. They beat the other two guys for good measure, including another quick count. Super Prorky "ran" to make the save after the match. His offense is all running at people and hitting them with his gut. At least he's running! Martha was doing less.

Match 5: Intocable, La Parka Jr., Octagon, Super Porky (c) vs Alan Stone, Hator, Scorpio Jr. (c), Zumbido
Plaza de Toros de Uruapan, Michoacan, 02/16/07

Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 13:10
Other Match Notes: Usual matches. Rudos from the last match come out to attack Octagon at about 12 minutes, which draws Octagon and Parka, away for the fight. (Some of the Guapos conveniently disappear.). Despite this, Porky top rope splashes Scorpio Jr. for the pin, with some help from Intocable. Pepe Casas is with the fight, which has drifted towards the stage, and has to rush to the ring to make the count. Odd way to book the finish.

Promo: Black Buffalo plays invisible baseball and talks in Japanese. I can't dislike anyone who plays invisible baseball. There's a scroll which explains he's an Osaka Pro guy and a rudo. I guess they thought this was too random for AAA, which is saying something.

Match 6: Black Bufalo, Head Hunter I, Nicho (c) vs Chessman, Charly Manson, Cibernetico (c)
Plaza de Toros de Uruapan, Michoacan, 02/16/07

Winner: Hell Brothers
Match Time: 12:30
Other Match Notes:
Cibernetico's side enters second, Cibernetico cuts a promo before the match, and then they brawl in the aisle. Black Buffalo is an entertaining enough guy here. I don't know what he would've done if they would've brought him in long term, because he comes off as a henchman and they've got plenty of those, but I wouldn't mind seeing him. Nicho has Charly finished off at the end, but stops to crotch chop as Pepe Casas checks on a bumped Copetes, and Cibernetico sneaks in and fouls him. Charly covers for the win. Escoria and Espiritu rushed out to run them off and Nicho got to cut a promo post match. Cibernetico and Chessman have a lot of fun pretending to be scared.

The long term plan, which never got followed up because Nicho split quick, seemed to have Nicho as a top guy feuding with Cibernetico. Maybe Mesias would've gotten that slot eventually anyway, but it sure didn't feel like Nicho was being booked as a rudo to be feared at all here. Maybe like a second in command guy, someone who'd feud with Charly, but he ends up looking like a goof a lot for a top heel. To some extent, I think everyone assume he'll be over (and he is over) because he's Nicho, but they didn't seem to invest much in him.

That's it.
