AAA Mini Line - 02/24/07 (#614)

Apparently, they're going to subtitle every taping this year - very Ring of Honor of them - but I'm ignoring the names.

Interview: Nemesis and Pegasso say they can win. Good for them.

Match 1: Policeman (c), Sepulturero, Toxico vs Pegasso (c), Super Fly, Terry 2000
Gimnasio Agustin Millian, 01/25/07

Winner: Tecnicos (Pegasso up and over sunset flip on Policeman)
Match Time: 7:47
Notes:
Sepulturero is still masked at this point. No offense to the rudos here, but you can never like your chances when Policeman's the captain. Beat down at 2:30ish. Comeback at 5:30. Recent showed decent chemistry. They kept the AULL guys together for most of the match. Good opener with a few nice spots. A little shorter than usual, and more basic finish than you'd figure - the other two tecnicos got in their dives, and Pegasso got Policeman on his first move.

Toluca crowd is nuts again, though I suspect some of it might be the microphone placement. (So they should place the microphones better elsewhere!)

Match 2: Jerrito Estrada, Mini Abismo Negro (c), Mini Charly Manson vs Mascarita Divina, Mascarita Sagrada (c), Octagoncito
Gimnasio Agustin Millian, 01/25/07

Winner: Tecnicos (DQ Mini Abismo)
Match Time: 13:38
Notes: Ring crew is setting up wood steps to the ring before the match, and taking them to the back before the match gets going - have they done that before? Rudos rush the tecnicos after introductions. Mascarita Sagrada did an inset interviews about the minis title. Comeback at 3:30, when a game of Catch Mascarita Sagrada goes horribly wrong for Abismo. Tecnicos got their own 3 on 1 beatdown on each of the rudos. Mini Abismo took back over with a DDT into a front facelock on Sagrada just before 6:00. Divina broke that up with a dropkick, and Mini Abismo claimed foul. Tecnico showcases from there. Even with the crowd and optimal lineup, it was a "just" a good match and didn't hit the extra gear into great before the Sagrada injury (which, even going into thinking about it, I forget it till it happened) and everything halted there. If you haven't seen it, Sagrada is doing sommerault slingshot out of the ring into a headscissors on Mini Abismo, but his legs don't hook high enough. As the upper half of his body swings towards Abismo, his head is too low, and the back of his head smacks the floor at full speed.

Replays made the announcers sick, I think. Ring crew quickly wanted to untie Sagrada's mask, and his shoes. Crowd chanted for him as he was carried off. We saw more of the replays then the first aid. Match resumed as a 2 on 3, with Divina and Octagon doing springboard planchas on their rivals. I guess that was the original plan, because immediately after Ocatagoncito landed his dive, he started back to the ring so Min Abismo would have someone to work with. Replays killed some time. Mini Abismo and Octagoncito did a stare off (while coming up with a finish, visibly), and Mini Abismo blocked a up and over sunset flip attempt to foul kick Octagoncito. Pepe Casas saw it, and that was that. Rudos stomped a mudhole in Octagoncito.

Promo: Joe Lider, with Atomicos title, promises to add the tag title next.

Match 3: Alan, Decnnis vs Crazy Boy, Joe Lider in a AAA Tag Team Tournament match
Gimnasio Agustin Millian, 01/25/07

Winner: Mexican Powers
Match Time: 12:49
Other Match Notes: In the preview graphic for these match, they have individual graphics for all the participants. Except for this one, where they had a photo of Decnnis and a photo of Decnnis. No love for Alan. You ref is Copetes. No entrances. Announcers say Juvi's was in Italy this week, I think. We have a spot where everyone puts armbars on each other, and twists, causing it to cascade down the line, and then they switch to headlocks. Announcers discuss Super Crazy being in the Royal Rumble. Announcers are less interested in this match than I am. These two Barrio Boys have issues as a tag team, they're not very good, and they're less on the same page than you'd think for a team that's been a team forever. They get the first beatdown segment. Alan brings in chairs and they spend a minute setting them up and resetting them. Copetes will allow it. Lider gets tossed off the middle rope into two set up chairs, rolling thru them to take a safe bump. MPs take control on charges gone bad. Crazy and Lider do all the indy spots you've seen elsewhere. Stacked superplex, check. Copetes is slow counting - why? Who's side is he on here? Is he trying to get a draw to help out some other rudo teams? I don't understand this man. The one thing I'll give the Mexican Powers is they're blowing a lot less spots than they did eight months ago. They're still coming off annoyingly indy to me - moves to be moves, everything ten times more complicated than it needs to be - as I type that, Lider gets chair shot in the head, and kicks out of the following inside cradle pin. Same thing happens to Decnnis, but the Mexican Powers set him inside a chair so Lider can do a guillotine legdrop. Longer than it needed to be.

Noti AAA:
- La Parka Jr. is still suspended from TV. But, at some award show, the Televisa cameras found him and he cut a promo. I think he said he's not going bad.
- Mascarita Sagrada in the hospital footage. He's still in a neck brace (and mask) here. It sounds like he doesn't remember much. He was completely limp from the moment the back of his head hit the ground. Victor's recaps translates the doctor saying he has no idea when Sagrada will be back.
- I recall that we saw Pena dip his hand in cement for some walk of fame deal last year, and it looks like they're rededicating it posthumously

Promo: Psicosis says it's the night of the Mexican Powers.

Match 4: May Flowers, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Juventued Guerrera, Psicosis II
Gimnasio Agustin Millian, 01/25/07

Winner: Mexican Powers (Juvi Driver Pimpi, Psicosis Samoan Drop May)
Match Time: 7:25
Other Match Notes: No entrances. Hijo de Tirantes is back and being kissed by Pimpi, but he's referring with a neck brace. Crowd is obscenely hot for Juvi, who keeps posting and interrupting the introductions for the other team. Mexican Powers jump the Exotics, for posing one too many times. Things settled down to May and Psicosis starting. It seems like the Exoticos are worked out of the promotion. They're just in fill in spots, here in the tag tournament and when they do the Relevos AAA matches, with people cheering for the usual spots but getting less attention compared to a year ago of this time. Maybe it's just a low ebb. Exoticos get moments in this match, but it feels more Mexican Power controlled. Psicosis accidentally shoves Hijo into a kiss from Pimpi, and Hijo kinda fast counts the pins directly after.

Promo: Vipers, minus Histeria, talk about how adding Mr. Niebla makes them the greatest four man unit. Which makes sense, since they were the (self proclaimed) greatest three man unit before. In theory, Niebla's not dragging them down. In theory.

Match 5: Abismo Negro (c), Antifaz del Norte, Histiera, Mr. Niebla vs Alebrije (c), El Elegido, Laredo Kid, Oriental
Gimnasio Agustin Millian, 01/25/07

Winner: Tecnicos (Elegido cradle Abismo)
Match Time: 22:05
Other Match Notes: Production crew has some issues with Antifaz's music. They may have tried to bleep a naughty word, and then the music just stops. Antifaz is confused but tries to go with it. Why do they have bats? Mini Abismo lights his spray can of fire. Oriental is wearing his Mixed Tag belt. AND HE HAS A SWORD. Alebrije and Cuije are wearing their Mascot Tag belts. Everyone clears out so Elegido can dance, and then Vipers jump the tecnicos.

Abismo makes a point of throwing Elegido into the crowd again and beating him there. Histeria drags Cuije around in a bat choke for a while. Niebla hits Alebrije with a chair. Abismo unties Elegido's mask, and then Elegido "accidentally" yanks it off when he gets hit by a bat. That was the worst "accidentally" ever. Again Abismo hits people with two bats, as if one bat wasn't going to get the job done. Abismo teases giving the Martinete Special to Oriental, but Hijo de Tirantes (why is he ref here?) breaks it up. They tease killing him, but no, that must wait for longer. Nothing much else happens till they do that, obviously. Everyone takes turn doing top rope moves on Alebrije, and then they actually pin him! Oh, they're pulling him up at two, never mind. Elegido inset promo, I don't care. Comeback at 7:45 off missed charges. Elegido's big comeback move is getting his trunks pulled - we get the full moon on camera, thanks. Abismo reached new level in ludicrous attempts to fake a foul - Elegido thought about clotheslining him, pulled back, and Abismo's grabbing himself. Laredo blew a bottom rope springboard, which was quite sad. The crowd stopped being into him at that point, but he did his moves anyway. Oh gosh, why do you show a replay of the blown spot? This is AAA. Niebla's slap still kills people dead. Abismo is now claiming a foul on a dropkick to the chest. I can't believe Hijo de Tirantes would even consider these, with that neckbrace and all. Mr. Niebla slips and falls walking on the apron - I think that was a bit, but it was a good one. The girls go crazy for Elegido, and he and Antifaz have a pose off. Elegido's trunks come down again. Odd how just he has that problem. This is a twenty minute match! Why is this a twenty minute match? All the tecnicos get two showcases to fill, before we finally get back to Abismo/Elegido. Abismo lands a dropkick and Hijo de Tirantes slow counts him, what a shock. Abismo's going to go for more pinfalls in this match than he does the rest of the month just so they can keep redoing that spot - yep, three times. The upside was Elegido almost blowing taking an inside cradle. Abismo attempts to light Hijo de Tirantes on fire, and - he runs out of fire. And the Oriental kicks Abismo, was he late there? Elegido cradles Abismo and Elegido gets the quick three.

Abismo yells at Hijo de Tirantes and calls Elegido a ballerina. And they beat them all up. Abismo takes Elegido's mask as a trophy.

Vignette: Octagon's knee may be shattered in a million pieces! Or I guess it might be fine since they're bending it here. Octagon recaps the angle for the doctor, who could not care less. Oh, I guess he's talking to the camera now. Octagon wants that mask versus mask match with Fuerza Guerrera. It's good to want things.

Match 6: Cuervo (c), Escoira, Ozz vs Charly Manson, Chessman, Cibernetico (c)
Gimnasio Agustin Millian, 01/25/07

Winner: 9:11
Match Time: Dark Family (Cuervo pin Chessman)
Other Match Notes: Hell Brothers come out separate, which means Charly gets jumped before his partners are even out. Chessman waits for his music to play, but he at least hurries out once it does. Dark Family tape him to the ropes. Copetes and Pepe Casa are refs, and this match is interrupted by a break before it can get officially started.

Looks like Charly got handcuffed to the bottom rope, so Cibernetico is all on his own and not fairing well. The crowd's way into him. I like how it's scotch tape that's keeping Chessman at bay. He can't break it, he can't even pull it off, it's just too strong for him. Lots of basic stuff for Cibernetico. Chessman's trying to bite his way free, that's an idea. Pepe Casas tries to help but doesn't really do much of a job of it. Ozz appears to use a testicular claw on Cibernetico, which I have no comment for. Cibernetico gets brought outside, and Ozz does the thru the ropes tornillo, only Ciber moves and his partners get it (and somehow fall over the barricade. Cibernetico's got some time - and he's going to the back? Wire cutters! Cibernetico's a smart man. Got some scissors too, which he slides to Pepe Casas to free Chessman, while he breaks Charly away. Chessman freed as well, and they both rush towards the Sect like they're about to start a multi-state killing spree. When they bring it back in the ring, Chessman obliterates Ozz with a spear. Crowd loves the Hell Brothers. They try to set up the same for Escoria, but Copetes gets in the way and takes it instead. Pepe Casas checks on his associate, not awarding a DQ. They're both outside, shielded from the entrance, which means it's time for run ins. Come on down, Head Hunter I. He runs wild, taking out all three Hell Brothers, before Charly moves out of the way of a middle rope senton. No one can knock him down with clotheslines till Cibernetico knocks him out of the ring with one. Head Hunter lands right in front of Pepe Casas, which confuses him. Sect back in and getting murdered. Escoria manages to dropkick Chessman out, but his pescado is caught (Mostly) and Chessman throws him into the crowd. Charly gets Escoria with a tope, Cibernetico bounces Cuervo around. Chokeslam? Cibernetico taking his time teasing it. Someone in a Blue La Parka mask and a black robe rushes out, low blow kicks Cibernetico, taunts him very briefly, and rushes to the back. Arturo is sure that was La Parka, Alfonso is not sure. Cuervo covers for three.

Cibernetico gets the microphone and demands a rematch. And he wants to have a word with the man who fouled him. That guy ain't coming back out, though. Prez Roldan does come out (maybe it was him! no) and Cibernetico asks why he just lost due to a suspended match. They set up the cage match here - makes sense, keeps random roving men in skeleton masks from interfering, I guess.

That's it.
