CMLL GDR - 02/10/07 (#64)
Recapped: 02/14/07

Unmasked: Bird Boy, who turns out to be Virus.

They dropped the three minute intro bit this week. I'm sure that time will get made up somewhere that's not a match.

Promo: Universo, who's feuding with Corleone I do believe, cuts his promo on Dr. Wagner. At least he takes the "let's unify the belts" idea, though this would involve Universo figuring out which closet he stuck his belt in.

Match 1: Dr. X, Misterioso II (c), Okumura vs Mascara Purpura, Metro II, Virus (c)
Arena Mexico, 01/27/06

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:49
Approx Rating: eh.
Other Match Notes: No entrances here! We're in a hurry! Things to do, people to see. "Getting a picture of Virus that's not 7 years old" is not on that list of things to do, sadly.

1: Misterioso and Mascara Purpura start on the mat. That's not the combo I would've gone with, but it's okay. Misterioso is twice as think of Purpura. This didn't really play to Purpura's skills and the crowd wasn't in it, but he didn't embarrass himself. Virus and Okumura are next, with Virus out maneuvering for armdrags. Dr. X and Metro are last. Metro has a new mask - or at least new to me. Metro gets in some good looking moves, but there's odd pauses. Misterioso cuts him down with a clothesline, and celebrates. He celebrates a chest slap as well. And another. Crowd is at least into rooting Metro back. Metro does a run up the corner jump off into a headscissors, and the crowd boos. It wasn't the tightest thing, but I've seen worse. Asai moonsault by Metro finishes him and Misterioso off for the time. Rudos get control of the other two with clotheslines, but Virus backdrops Purpura to the apron, kicks Okumura as he charges, splashes Okumura, moves out of the way as Dr. X elbow drops his partner, splashes Okumura again, and moves out of the way as Purpura lands the shooting star press on Okumura. I thought that might be too far away, but it was fine. That's it for him. Virus gets hammerlock/half crab submission while posing, and Dr. X is done.

2: Mascara Purpura does a springboard flip for almost no reason. It's good nothing changes. Crowd hates the tecnicos again. Rudos decide to rush the ring when Metro gets his turn. Corner clotheslines for him, and a low blow dropkick. Purpura in, and Okumura gives him a rebound face first side slam for the pin. Metro tries taking everyone on, and instead gets a double dropkick. Rudos have a hard time figuring out what's next. Corner whip, Metro backdrops out, and Misterioso ends up spearing the post on his way to the floor. Rudos are even more confused - Metro blocks Okumura's charging punch as Virus gives Misterioso a headscissors. Dr. X is still going, and that's all they need - his hanging spinning DDT on Metro gets the fall.

3: Rudos still in control. Purpura gets corner clotheslines and Okumura's missile dropkick. Metro and Virus get their turns, and I completely forget what is happening while it's happening because I'm nearly following the commentary. Which is just Magadan and Jesus. Nothing much is coming from this beatdown. Purpura escapes by ducking down when in a bodyscissors, causing the rudos to clothesline each other. Metro comes in and gets plancha on Misterioso and a boosted dropkick on Dr. X. Misterioso is still standing, though, and he does the flapjack into a dropkick which they still can't get right. Virus breaks up that pin, Okumura takes over on him, and a bodyscissors reversal sequence gets badly blown. This is not one of the better outings. Virus tries to make up for it with a springboard DDT on Okumura. Dr X. in, and he and Virus exchange chops. Virus trips him up, but Dr. X moves out of the way of the running sit to the back. Dr. X starts for a dive, but Metro cuts him off with a clothesline. Crowd not into Metro. Dr.. X not into Metro, kicking him down. X charges, and Metro backdrops him out - into a pescado on Virus. That's not so good. Metro takes care of Misterioso with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker, but then Okumura kills him with a typical German suplex. Typical in that he crushed the man's head/neck for no good reason.  Metro ain't moving and doesn't want to be moved after the pin - he's hurting. Purpura in and dropkicking Okumura. Misterioso tries to get him, but Purpura moves out of the way and sets him up on the top rope. Before he can get into the top rope 'rana, Okumura trips him up, and Misterioso gets into the top rope Rosa Driver instead. One two three.

While we're still watching Metro be carted off, Magadan talks about Misterioso being in the next match. So when do they tape the commentary for these things? I guess they could be live when they're doing matches that aren't on the main show (and assuming they know the lineup for the following Sunday, which is possible.)

Promo: Averno talks about Mistico.

Match 2: Alex Koslov (c), Ephesto, Apocalipsis vs Felino, Mictlan, Sagrado (c)
Arena Coliseo, 02/04/07

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:48
Approx Rating: Okay.
Other Match Notes: Sagrado's promo is about a feud with Alex Koslov which didn't seem to exist. This is a totally different match than I had written down, that's great. It's weight to see Efesto wearing colors again - this outfit is very blue. Magadan helpfully provides Russian to Spanish translation again.

1: Sagrado and Efesto get the 90 second open, and then an actual tag is made, with Felino taking over on Efesto. Felino's submission gets broken up by Alex, so he tries a whip instead, and breaks the world record for earlier head down soon. Good thing Efesto kicked it. Efesto makes a tag! It's catching today. Apocalipsis in and working over Felino, and they battle over armbars. Felino gets an abdominal stretch, and tags in Mictlan. What's going on? Mictlan drops Apocalipsis with a slap,. Whip, lift into a fireman's carry sit down powerbomb. Koslov breaks that up too. Whip, Mictlan sunset flip, Apocalipsis rolls thru and kicks him. Apocalipsis runs to the corner, realizes he's in the wrong one, and goes to the right one to tag out to Alex. Alex in with chops and punches, but a clothesline misses, and Mictlan tries a plancha. Alex catches, and swings him out into a sidewalk slam. Dropkick, and Mictlan rolls out instead of tagging. That's over, I guess. Efesto and Sagrado in. Efesto gets in the first right, but Sagrado is back with a twisting headscissors and a spinning backbreaker. Sagrado slides out after ducking a clotheslines, and Efesto kills him with a tope. Alex quickly gets the Red Scare (the one that's a Russian legsweep into a crossface) on Felino and Apocalipsis wins with a flapjack. That's two different approaches.

2: Rudos still in control. Corner clotheslines for Felino. Sagrado gets kicked around, and a surfboard around the ropes to set up a dropkick. Mictlan gets dropkicked and slammed. He's held for Efesto to run over, but Felino pulls him out, and Sagrado gets the other two with a springboard dropkick. Everyone but Sagrado ends up outside, and then Sagrada grabs Efesto and brings him in because he's got nothing to do. Mictlan takes Alex on a tour of ringside. Koslov's learned the "fall in the laps of women" trick. Efesto takes a lame knee bump to the floor and Sagrado gets a revenge tope on him. Felino gives Apocalipsis a fireman's carry slam, and hooks him in a reverse figure four for a quick tap. Mictlan gives Alex a F5 for the fall.

3: Why does Felino's tights say "Felinoski"? Felino clotheslines Apocalipsis out to end their sequence. Alex gets in a enziguri on Sagrado, and lays the Russian flag on him before going up. Big splash comes up empty. Sagrada gets in the backbreaker/gutbuster combo and his own enziguri. Sagrado teases dive but backs off. Efesto and Mictlan, who's not going to start fighting until they chant his name. Thankfully they give in. Mictlan lands the handspring back elbow and the backbreaker and the fake dive tease - he's like Sagrado except not as good. Efesto spends some time adjusting a knee brace, and then Mictlan goes head and dives on him anyway with a no hands tope con giro. Apocalipsis and Felino back in, Apocalipsis tumbling out of the ring on a dropkick that came up short. What can you do. Clip here? Felino's being backdrops on Apocalipsis next thing we see, and Sagrado is battling a hat wearing Alex, so something happened. Punches, Sagrado winning. Whip, reversed, Alex with a drop toe hold, dropkick to the head connects even though Sagrado's moving out of the way. Whip, reveres, and Sagrado uses a delayed backbreaker - the delay makes it different than the other three he's done, I guess. Sagrado goes up, tope rope moonsault hits enough (but totally on the legs), one two three. Doctor checks on Alex, who's hurting from that moonsault landing. AND Felino steals his hat, which is just rude. While we replays, Alex is held back from attacking the tecnicos, so I guess this isn't over yet. They opt not to show a replay of the moonsault, and it's probably for the best.

That's it.. Total Time: 25:37 - hey, that's up.
