AAA Mini Line - 02/10/07
Recapped: 02/22-02/24

They actually have the hard camera facing the crowd - I think they do that with this arena, but the way this arena is set up, you're seeing a the floor section and a whole bunch of wall. There's lots of people on higher levels, but you can't see them normally.

Match 1: Angel Mortal, Gallego, Mr. Condor (c), Policeman vs Nemesis, Pegasso, Super Fly (c), Terry 2000
Plaza de Toros El Pinal, 01/13/07
Winner: Tecnicos (Super Fly German suplex Mr. Condor)
Match Time: 8:50
Notes: Beatdown at 1:15 - just after the captains faceoff. Nemesis gets control back without a big comeback - it takes me a moment to realize what's going on. It can't be an edit, because Terry 2000 gets backdropped out of the ring, and is still in the same place after a crowd shot, so maybe they just beat up the new guy. Nemesis got a normal showcase run, so I guess that was it. I'm finally comfortable identifying Nemesis and and Super Fly - Super Fly's mask scares me. Same thing happens to Terry 2000 next time he's in as well (6:00), and this time it actually starts the beatdown, with the rudos doing multi-man moves galore. Of the small thin tecnicos here, Terry's the smallest. Terry tricks the rudos into crotching their partner at 7:30. Super Fly has a nice moonsault to the floor. Pegasso looked okay here, but he's been better. Super Fly and Mr. Condor seemed to work the most in the match. Super Fly can be really neat, but he's not always in the right place in the right time. He's good enough to the clean win here. Fine opening match.

Vignette: Gran Apache hangs out with Marvin on the slides. Who's he talking to on the phone? Ah, it's Fabi. I guess Gran Apache invited Fabi to Marvin's birthday party - that's nice of him. Fabi gets the kid back at first chance, but she can't take off and leave from his birthday party, of course. It's a legit kids birthday party - it's probably really Marvin's party, and they're keeping Billy Boy and everyone else out of camera shot. We get scenes from the party, up to Fabi helping Marvin blow out the candles. Gran Apache talks her into handing over Marvin so she can hand out the (Cars) cake, and off he runs, before Fabi can figure it out. The kids try to stop him, but Gran Apache skedaddles. Fabi figures it out too late.

Match 2: Gran Apache (c), Mini Abismo Negro, Rossy Moreno vs Billy Boy (c), Fabi Apache, Mascarita Sagrada
Plaza de Toros El Pinal, 01/13/07
Winner: Rudos (Gran Apache crucifix powerbomb Billy)
Match Time: 12:23
Notes: Apache would like the crowd to shut up while he's lecturing Fabi and Billy. I think Apache mentions Fabi at the birthday part here, and I think Billy's angry he wasn't there. I may just be making that up - Apache seems to be going with the idea that if Fabi's willing to break up with Billy (and turn ruda), she gets her kid back. Billy is not down with this - he's pretty angry, and gets into a shoving match with Gran Apache that starts the match.

Rossy and Fabi start in the ring. I'm not sure if Rosy or Big Show have worse headbutts. Fabi gets an edge, so Gran Apache attacks , and Billy Boy attacks him. Billy's fired up here. Gran and Billy are battling it up with chest slaps with no resolution, and both minis break it up with dropkicks. Mini Abismo Negro and Mascarita Sagrada should fight each other to the end of time. There was that discussion a while back about what mask matches I'd like to see, and I kinda would like to see one between them, just because you get the best chance at an ultimate match, but at the same time, I don't want to do anything that might make it end. That's the problem with most really good feuds; it's only the ones I'm sick of where I really want to see that mask match, just to resolve it. Mascarita gets the satellite armbar at 3:30 - this match is is moving quick, or I've got the times wrong - and the rest of the rudos hit the ring to break it up and start the beatdown. They're sticking with their natural rivalries - I'm kinda hoping we get Billy Boy vs Mini Abismo here, but not yet. At a down ebb of the beatdown, we get an inset promos from Rossy Moreno and Fabi Apache; that's the time to do it, if you're going to do it during a match. After Fabi and Mascarita are taken care of, we do get Billy Boy taken care of. He's fed to Mini Abismo for a overhead belly to belly suplex, so I can tell you that Billy's a inch, maybe two, taller than Mini Abismo. At least on this day. We have them as a five inch difference on luchawiki, and that's their worked height, I'm sure. Fabi sidesteps a charge to turn the tide, including Gran Apache accidentally giving the big slap to his partner in crime Rossy. During the comeback, they have Mascarita whip Rossy, which is just wacky. Tecnicos comeback is really that good, but the crowd buys it. Abismo takes a bump into the crowd after a clothesline out of the ring, and the AAA security people freak. Crowd counts along to the countout as the rudo regroup. Billy Boy gets in a nice tope on Gran. Rossy and Fabi have sequence and the crowd is easily least into them. Mascarita's headscissors moves are perfect today. Back to the full size men for the finish - Gran Apache gets the crucifix powerbomb for another clean win.

Rossy gets the microphone and yells at Gran Apache; she's sick of this kids stuff. Gran Apache yells at her, so they're done. That was odd, but it's an excuse to free Rossy from this spot since they've got other things planned for her. After the rudos leave, Billy Boy and Fabi have their own problems - crowd wants to see a hug, but they're not getting it from Billy. I guess he's upset about being a loser. Fair enough.

Promo: Alan and Decnnis talk trash re: Mexican Powers and the next Tournament match. Decnnis is the one with the pony tail. I've been watching this show for how long now and I still have to remind myself of all these things.

Promo: Psicosis and Juvi talk trash re: Billy Boys

Match 3: Juventued Guerrera, Psicosis II vs Alan, Decnnis in a AAA Tag Tournament match
Plaza de Toros El Pinal, 01/13/07
Winner: Barrio Boys (Decnnis wheel kick/chair Juvi)
Match Time: 9:14
Other Match Notes: Hijo de Tirantes is your ref. Alan and Juvi start off with a handshake. Mexican Powers get the beatdown at about 4:00, but it's not a hard rudo-ish thing - just a manner of match flow. Barrio Boys get their turn after 5:00, and Mexican Powers flip it back later - it's a lot of 2 on 1 and 2 on 2 to end it. Match loses it's momentum somewhere during the Barrio Boys first turn - there's a lot of standing around after a dive, and some stuff looks bad - a Decnnis top rope sunset flip in particular. Juvi works really hard during the beginning, but is tired by the end. Decnnis kicks out of a Juvi Driver for no pop - the kickout spot was odd, which didn't help. Decnnis gets put in a Tree of Woe, but Alan pulls Juvi out before he can do anything, and Decnnis just unhangs himself. Alan and Psicosis go in the ring for an armdrags, but just to set a return dive - a tornillo that doesn't look clean. Juvi and Alan go back in, and now Juvi's showing signs of losing it as well being winded. They take turns missing with a chair until Decnnis knocks it into Juvi with a wheel kick, and that's three. Crowd's not happy with the outcome; they've been pretty receptive all show but not here.

Match 4: Alan Stone, Zumbido vs Escoria, Espiritu in a AAA Tag Tournament match
Plaza de Toros El Pinal, 01/13/07
Winner: Sect (Escoria top rope legdrop Alan; Espiritu half crab Zumbido)
Match Time: 8:47
Other Match Notes: Dark Family is out first, Cibernetico and Chessman are out second - that's not right. Cibernetico is primary considered with getting the crowd to chant for him, but also death for the two guys in the ring. Just not now (again.) Zumbido has new music? Zumbido dancing along to Alan's music is great. Copetes is ref. Guapos decide they're going to be tecnicos here., more or less.

Crowd sings the Cibernetico song, but they're more into the song then they are into either team. After Zumbido and Escoria start on the mat, Alan and Espiritu work the crowd to try and set up the dynamic before they get going. Crowd doesn't want to chant for the Guapos, no matter how Alan tries. They're better off trying to get the crowd to chant Ciber to annoy the Sect. When Zumbido and Escoria came back in, Zumbido did a better job of getting the fans into it, and got in a nice tope con giro. Crowd reacts on spots - like Espiritu's slide to the floor and Alan's tope con giro dive that follows, but is quite during the in between. Zumbido takes the knee bump to the floor, but Alan pulls out Escoria before he can get in a dive. I thought that'd start the beatdown, but they just continued with one one ones. A lot of the headscissors are really loose. Near fall for the Guapos after an Alan springboard splash, but Escoria rushes in to break out the pin at two. Guapos remain in control, and set up the Dark Family for moonsaults - both miss. Escoria lands a giant legdrop on Alan for three, and Espiritu adds a quebrada and half crab on Zumbido for the win. Okay, but both these same side tag matches lost something from not having a face/rudo dynamic.

Noti AAA
- Konnan, wearing a Ring of Honor hoodie, notes all the guys he's faced and no one did what Cibernetico did to him. He's coming back for revenge.
- Rossy Moreno may or may not reform the Brujas. Well, she did, see next week.
- the newest Viper is wearing a familiar outfit
- next week is a celebration of Octagon's 25th year in wrestling

Promo: Abismo, not the leader of the Vipers, talks about the new member of the group. They're showing in his space suit outfit, so it's only a tease if you forget what that looks like. He's not here this week, why do we care.

Match 5: Abismo Negro (c), Antifaz del Norte, Histeria vs Alberije, Elegido (c), Oriental
Plaza de Toros El Pinal, 01/13/07
Winner: Tecnicos (DQ Abismo for ref attack)
Match Time: 16:29
Other Match Notes: Vipers at least color coordinate well. This was extended Alberije and Cuije wackiness to start. Same thing happened here, with insert promos during the beatdown. They ripped up Elegido's mask good - he appears to a Mexican. Abismo gave Elegido a chairshot to the head in the middle of the ring, and Hijo de Tirantes basically accused him of not being nice. If I was a tecnico, I'd hate Hijo de Tirantes. He lets everything go. Great continuing accidentally comedy - Vipers try to bring into a second chair, but it's bound to another one, and whatever they do, they can not pull them apart. So they just whap people with two chairs instead of one. Hijo de Tirantes puts up more of a DQ fight over a low blow headbutt then he did of a chair. Abismo just tell shim to shut up. Good on him. Abismo dragged ELegido over the barrio, threw him on the ground, and repeatedly threw chairs down at him. That was odd. Histeria put Cuije in a tapatia, which was great. Comeback at 10:00, with Elegido ducking a double clothesline and announcers singing. This match failed at catching my attention, but the fans seemed decently into it. Alebrije's in a very suplex-y mode. He and Histeria have trouble with a spot off the middle rope, but recover as best as they could after the slip. Dive train was leading to Cuije dive, but Abismo cut him off and put on the Claw! Well, maybe he just grabbed his mask, but the Claw is better. Abismo scoops up Cuije for the Martinete, Hijo de Tirantes protested so Abismo fouled him and dropped Cuije (without giving him the piledriver.) Martinete Special on Hijo de Tirantes instead. Is the match over? Alebrije rushed into check on him - here's Tirantes to shove Abismo and check on his son. He stops to award the match to the tecnicos while he's at it.

At this point, the Vipers are awful evil men. So - out comes Escoria and Espirtu to attack them. This is revenge for Abismo doing that to them - so I guess the Dark Family are faces? No, it's just confusing. Abismo cuts a promo, Antifaz steals the microphone time - anyway, they're sure they're the best. Hijo de Tirantes got stretchered out - no, Abismo is going shove him off.

Promo: La Parka Jr. explains he still doesn't like Cibernetico - he tried to take over the company and he tried to take his mask, and he hasn't forgiven those things, even if everyone else his. Parka can't help from getting angry at everyone, especially when they stick up for Cibernetico.

Match 6: Charly Manson, Chessman, Cibernetico (c) vs Intocable, La Parka Jr. (c), Octagon
Plaza de Toros El Pinal, 01/13/07
Winner:
Hell Brothers (DQ La Parka Jr. for low blow)
Match Time: 11:23
Other Match Notes: Intocable doesn't have backup dancers this week! How will he ever manage? As a tecnico move (I guess), he gives out posters of himself to fans as he walk to the ring. AAA is weird. AAA must like the visual of young kids jumping the rail and hugging the tecnicos, because it happens every single week. The Hell Brothers have wacky masks and a group pose, how nice. Always odd to actually hear Chessman's music. Hell Brothers attack the tecnicos after the introductions.

Total rudo brawling beatdown to start, with chairs and all. If you skipped six months of TV, you'd have no idea why the Hell Brothers are being cheered, because they're acting the same as they would before the knee injury. I understand that you're not supposed to change what they liked about you, but I'd thought there would be some tecnico-ness. Tecnicos get the comeback at about 3, and it turns into the normal tecnico showcases. Crowd chanted for La Parka when he was in with Cibernetico. He stopped goofing around and started throwing punches. Whip, La Parka Jr. tried a kick, Cibernetico caught, Cibernetico tried a kick (might have been a foul), La Parka Jr. caught, and La Parka Jr. foul kicked Cibernetico. Copetes and Tirantes both saw it, and immediately awarded the DQ.

Here's the Pres. After seeing people being assaulted with chairs and stuff all show, he decides that this is too much. In fairness, he just wants to the top guys unified to stop the Black Family. La Parka Jr. has to be held back from shoving Joaquin (and it's the tecnicos who do it), and then Joaquin suspends La Parka Jr. from TV for a week. Hell Brothers, particularly Charly Manson, laugh at Parka, who goes crazy. The others manage to keep him separate from Cibernetico and the president.
