CMLL GDR - 01/27/07 (#62)
Recapped: 01/31/07

Instead of the guy who's not Jesus and not Magadan, LA Park crashes the opening introduction. Wearing a white suit. Park is stylin'. Magadan is thrilled at having no tecnicos to hold them down. During the matches, there's a new announcer I don't recognize.

Through the show, Jesus reads off five questions, which you're supposed to answer and e-mail in to win a shirt. Since he's reading them and not displaying them on the screen, I have ZERO chance of getting them.

Unmasked: Satanico. This is more notable for actually seeing Satanico's mask, since he lost it 33 years ago.

Match 1: Arkangel, Loco Max, Nitro (c) vs Fabian el Gitano, Leono, Texano Jr.
Arena Mexico, 01/12/07

  1. Tecnicos
  2. Rudos
  3. Tecnico

Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 9:34
Approx Rating: Eh. The usual.
Other Match Notes: No entrances

1: Arkangel is going to keep working with Fabian on the mat until Fabian is good. This may take a while. Like, forever. Pandilla are all wearing the yellow and black, Fabian's wearing yellow, Texano's wearing yellow, Leono's wearing white. Someone didn't get the memo. Texano clears the rudos out on his own, with the air horn guy going crazy. Texano gets in a dive, and then Fabian comes back for Loc, and Leono gets his 10 seconds of action for this fall.

2: To be fair, Leono gets to start the second fall and teases a dive. But then he tags out after 10 seconds.  He's not getting paid per hour. More Fabian and Arkangel stuff - Fabian is seems lesser than usual but Arkangel is bringing it up to average. Rudos start the beatdown right as Texano comes in. He gets a bunch, topping with a triple faceslam. Leono in, now for longer since he's getting beat. He almost takes a head plant on a double flapjack, and then gets a Nitro superbomb. Fabian doesn't celebrate with his usual enthusiasm when he escapes the beatdown for a second. Gory Bomb for him, and then everyone grabs an appendage.

3: Beatdown goes on. Fabian stops it by hugging Texano to stop him from running on a whip, which is of course the kind of thing he'd do. Right as the comeback starts, they put up the big Perro graphic to advertise that and obscure one-fifth of the screen. It doesn't stay up long. Camera lingers on Leono and Texano staring and doing nothing for a while, while Fabian and Nitro might be interacting elsewhere. Fans turn on the tecnicos for no reason again. Maybe they're sick of this match too. They set up all the rudos on the outside for a double slow tornillo spot. Texano brings Nitro back in, Nitro hiptosses him, Texano comes back to get the fireman's carry head crusher, and that's it.

Promo: Averno yells about Mistico. It's not relevant, but at least it actually exists.

Match 2: Averno (c), Mephisto, Pierroth vs Mictlan, Negro Casas (c), Sagrado
Arena Coliseo, 01/21/07

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:54
Approx Rating: Okay.
Other Match Notes: Negro and Averno & Mephisto do prematch promos. I love it when the valets attempt to dance to Averno and Mephisto's music before realizing it's just not happening.

1: Averno and Sagrado start, but a kick from the outside by Mephisto leads into a shoving war. Sagrado shoves Averno down, Mephisto shoves Sagrado, Mictlan shoves Mephisto, Pierroth shoves Mictlan, Negro high kicks Pierroth. Negro cheats, and Pierroth takes a casual bump out of the ring on to his feet, in such a fashion that it's far easier than actually landing on the mat. Rudos start the beatdown from there. Somehow, Averno goes off brawling with Negro while the other two do the tag work. It occurs to me that's why they were captains - is it time for a return title match? Sagrado ends up taking a triple facebuster for a pin. Pierroth pulls out his dragon sleeper to use on Negro. Long time in between pins, because I guess they didn't want to pin Negro and Mictlan's got to be brought in instead.

Promo: Magadan shows off the Perros del Mal jacket.

2: Beatdown on going. Pierroth works Negro over, and Averno and Mephisto hold the others to get their shots. Negro takes a moment to talk with second row rudo fans. Mictlan gets kicked questionably low. Pierroth is so fat. Black is a slamming color, but not when your stomach extends over your belt. Wait, he's got two belts? Huh. What ever happened to La Nazi anyway? Negro ducks a belt shot and the comeback is on. Negro belts Pierroth right on the top of his head, which must not be fun. Mictlan throws a good punch, he's got a good follow thru. Averno & Mephisto don't really help out when Pierroth's getting belt, but do take advantage of Negro going after Terror Chino for some reason. Sagrado's backbreaker/gut buster combo on Averno sets up Negro, and that's it.

3: Mictlan and Pierroth start, with Pierroth taking armdrags, until he moves out of the way of one. Mictlan ends up dropkicking him out, and Pierroth makes that rolling escape from the ring. Mep and Negro exchange chops, and Mep yells at the crowd for encouraging him. Mep gets Negro in a submission, so Averno breaks that up - and Negro breaks both of the up. They manage to get their heads together for a double headbutt. Negro comes back, knocks them both of the ring, and, uh, just rests in his corner. Sagrado and Pierroth, with Pierroth talking and slapping. Pierroth running is funny. Sagrado dropkicks him away and sends Mep out with a spinning headscissors. Sagrado blows the flying armdrags but Averno covers for him anyway, and Sagrado gets him with the tope con giro. Mephisto  and Mictlan next, till Mictlan gets him to the apron, and Sagrado yanks him off. Oh, Mictlan's got a no hands tope con giro, that's nice. Too bad he just got his partner, Mephisto and Averno bailing out of the way. Negro in, and kicked as he's stepping thru by Averno. Rudos whip him around for a triple pump powerbomb, and that's it.

They're checking on Mictlan, there's something new. Sagrado really didn't catch him, more just got knocked aside without taking much of the impact.

Pierroth talks about the "young men" he teamed with - they're the future! And so are rudos. Mephisto and Averno agree that they're the best. Mictlan holds his right arm as he's being stretched out, and the rudos beat him while he's there. That's harsh. Replays shows he took the impact there. At least it's not his neck?

That's it. Total match time is 20:28
