CMLL GDR - 01/20/07 (#61)
Recapped:
01/23/07

Unmasked: Universo 2000, who turns out to be Universo 2000. Wow, all the way back the olden times of 2004.

Throughout the show, they plug a Perro Aguayo Jr. t-shirt vive away next week.

Promo: Dr. Wagner cuts on on Atlantis for no discernible reason. I've gone too long without a Dr. Wagner promo so it's all good. And I've given up on this show not wasting my time with pointless things.

Match 1: Amapola (c), Hiroka, Marcela vs Lady Apache (c), Marcela, Sahori
Arena Mexico, 01/05/07

Winner: Tecnicas
Match Time: 5:52
Approx Rating: Short but okay.
Other Match Notes: Mima has colorful ring gear. And Sum 41 for entrance music? Hiroka screams at the camera on the way to the ring. Lady Apache is the first tecnica out, and she gets jumped by the rudas. You know, I never realized Sahori has Tiffany's music. I think it's a rule that one woman per promotion must use Shania Twain. So she gets beat up as well, and music starts playing and the lights go out, and it seems like they turned them off for a big surprise, but no, the power to the lights  just went out. They get it up back up as Marcela enters; she gets thrown directly into a camera. Hey, have they always had those rotating adboards? Those seem new. Still only the bald Lady Apache graphic. Amapola brings Lady Apache into the ring to get the match actually started

Lady Apache doesn't last long, and Marcela's brought in for a triple boot. Sahori's turn. She's got a different outfit here, and takes hard running corner elbows. Lady Apache back in, and she's taken down and given a rolling legdrop. Amapola's not quite on the same page with her teammates a couple of times here. Lady Apache actually ducks a double clothesline, but immediately gets topped with a kicked. Mima holds her up with a powerbomb lift, and Hiroka comes off the top with a silla. Rudas celebrate. Sahori tries to attack, and he's quickly stopped. Break. (2:03 shown)

Promo: Hey, it's the same Dos Caras promo we saw before. It's not better this time.

Promo: Pierroth talks about Satanico here, which is actually a match we're going to see. Fancy that.

We return to see Sahori dropkicked in the head. Rudas even beat up Marcela some (powerbomb included), so they didn't clip right before the break. Lady Apache is tired on the ropes and given a double boot choke. She's kicked all around, but the crowd is behind her and chanting here. Match slows down for a bit - well, I say that, and then Amapola dropkicks Marcela's head into a turnbuckle, and Magadan says "Show me the money!" But otherwise, not much. Mima is entertaining, posing, waving, and boot choking all in one. Lady Apache worked over again, and still not getting anything back - camel clutch and boots to the face. Japanese women go for dropkicks, but get tripped up by the tecnicas. That leaves Apache and Amapola, and Apache makes her own comeback. Bodyscissors bulldog, but the pin is broken up by the other rudas as the tecnicas stand watching. Amapola misses a corner charge, throwing herself out of the ring, and Lady Apache dives onto her with an apron tope con hilo. The tecnicas come back in with missile dropkicks, and drop on their opponents with apron sillas. Captains back in - Lady Apache rolls to escape, and then gets a Victory roll on the next pass. This is right near the ropes again, just like last week. Lady Apache is on top, Hiroka reverses it, both referees spot it and yell at Hiroka to cut it out, Marcela sneaks in and re-reverses it, and Lady Apache hooks the bottom rope for good measure. One two three.

The rudas are upset and Amapola is still making belt motions, but you're not getting one for losing.

Promo: Mictlan talks about Sangre Azteca and his title. Good luck with that. After he's introduced, he cuts a promo involving him saying "Dia de la Muerte" many times.

Match 2: Emilio Charles Jr., Pierroth (c), Okumura vs Lizmark, Mictlan, Satanico (c)
Arena Coliseo, 01/14/07

  1. Draw
  2. Draw
  3. Tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos (1-0-2)
Match Time: 9:01
Approx Rating: Worthless.
Other Match Notes: Mictlan's music - it's good to be some dance mix I dunno - has a bizarre opening speech. Why is Emilio entering to Dr. Feelgood? I don't want an answer. Pierroth is still bald from his loss near the end of the year. He's also very angry about in his prematch interview.

1: Rudos jump the tecnicos as soon as they finish entering. Satanico and Pierroth work in the ring while the others brawl outside. Exactly the basic brawling beatdown you'd expect from this crew. Satanico tries to fight his way back and no luck on that. Everyone fights on the outside, fights more on the outside, and we've got a double count out. I was so bored, I forget it was happening.

2: Still rudos in control. Lizmark gets with a phantom foul, which is not caught, and a belt shot, which everyone sees. Belt to the back for every tecnico. Lizmark reveres a corner whip, and that starts the comeback. "Show me the money!" Return belt shots, check. Lots of brawling on the outside, with Satanico bouncing Pierroth's head off the back of chairs. Mictlan's got quite a welt from his belt shot. The people in the front rows are having lots of fun with this, but it's not coming across as well on TV. At least to me. Hey, another DCO. No one made a big deal of it coming, again. This doesn't stop the tecnicos from rolling up Pierroth's shirt and belting him in the back.

Promo: Universo 2000 wants a title vs title match vs Dr. Wagner Jr. Good luck on that.

3: This one, they'll actually wrestle in the ring. Crowd is in on it, I am not. All tecnico showcases: Satanico on Pierroth, Mictlan on Okumura, and Lizmark on Emilio. Micltan and Lizmark look as good as they have of late for the brief time they have, and then Satanico fakes a foul and that's it. Magadan goes off on the referees.

Pierroth steals the microphone post match and nearly assaults Jesus for saying Pierroth fouled Satanico. Satanico says that Pierroth is not even close to the rudo that he is. The other four brawl, and Satanico and Pierroth have a staring match.

That's it.
