La Parka Jr. out 3 months, Cibernetico out 4 months

Arturo Rivera, in between talking much about the Teleton, mentions La Parka Jr. will be out three months and Cibernetico will be out four months.

Let’s recap
– Perro Aguayo is out at least two weeks (and, as Superluchas notes, is unlikely to return during the holidays)
– Mistico’s out for at least a month
– La Parka Jr., out
– Cibernetico, out

That’s the top 4 regular working tecnicos draws in Mexico, gone all at the same time for extended abscenes. (Perro’s a rudo, but close enough.) Who does that leave on top? Santo and Latin Lover aren’t working a regular schedule (at least yet.) Wagner and Park are just about to be regulars so I wouldn’t count them either. I guess Mesias may be a tecnico by the end of the week, but he’s not sticking around. Shocker? Konnan? Charly Manson? Chessman? Negro Casas? Octagon? Corelone? Elegido? Dos Jr.? Super Porky? Leono? Maybe not Leono.

This seems to be a bigger problem for AAA, even putting aside the length of absence. CMLL pushes a bunch of guys near the top, which hasn’t helped drawing of late but does allow them to deal with attrition better. AAA’s put everything into Cibernetico and Mesias. They weren’t the only guys pushed, but they were pushed so far and above everyone else that it’s a big drop off from there. La Parka Jr. was the only exception, thought that seemed more to be years of momentum and not anything particular they’ve done with him in the last 18 months.

CMLL will just run trios with the Guerreros and High Society and the high flying tecnicos and the other Perros and the old vets. They’ll draw 5,000 for Friday shows, under 2,000 for the other shows, shrug their shoulders and kill the time till they feel like ramping things up again. Pretty much the same thing they would’ve done with Perro and Mistico, actually.

AAA, I have no idea what they do. We all kinda figured it’d be a Konnan-centric winter into spring with Mesias in Puerto Rico, but he’s got to feud with someone. I guess we’ll just get Cibernetico talking and Charly and Chessman wrestling for him on the TV shows (which also isn’t much different than usual), but I don’t think there’s an easy fix for spot shows.

  1. What AAA should do:

Have Zorro return to technico by saying he was a spy for Cibernetico, which would have Mesias, the Secta and the Legion reunited.

    What AAA should not do:

Turn Mesias or Konnan babyface, although the thought of Mesias being a babyface might not be a bad idea.

  2. This is USAUSA1 from deathvalleydriver

Someone recently ask Konnan this question:With Ciber out and Judas gone for awhile, it seem like AAA will have a tough ride for the next few months, do you guys have anything special plan to make up for the losses?

Konnan response: have plenty of talent still, ciber will probably show up on most of our shows even if he doesnt wrestle, and there is till parka(note:this was before the Parka news), me, zorro, ron killings, we have teddy hart and jack evans coming in, familia tijuana, mexican powers, intocable, minis, etc. we already have good stuff waiting for the new yr and hopefully by feb, hector moody from puerto rico comes in and our production will take a drastic change

  3. Elegido should get bumped up to the top of the card (someone has to feud with Zorro), Latin Lover has to come back, Mr. Niebla will now have a bigger role and should be in the main events for alittle while, and they have to hope nicho and Abismo Negro dont no show as many events as they usual do.

  4. Why does Konnan keep hyping the mini’s that he constantly doesn’t book? Not to mention AAA’s mini division is currently the worst it has ever been with no real tecnico star even though the best worker in the promotion is on the rudo side (that’d be Mini Abismo).

I fear for this winter more than any other time since Konnan took over. I sense shows being filled with more foreigners than natives, more random gimmick matches for the sake of being like ECW/WSX and of course… more Konnan on top building his eventual tecnico run. I love AAA but I think 2008 will be a very dark year for the promotion.

  5. Ugh!

Looks like not even the Apaches and Fuerza Aerea won’t be able to save these upcoming shows…if they’ll even make many appearances at all.

  6. UASUSA1 That response from Konnan is a very scary response, if he thinks AAA will do just fine by simply pumping out more bullshit.

I think Konnan doesn’t realize that his main audience are Mexicans living in Mexico, and not American Internet surfers who actaully know and possibly care about who Teddy Hart, Jack Evans, and others like them are. (Who the hell is Hector Moody).

The irony of this is that he’s not even appealing to American fans because people in the USA tuning into Galavision to watch Mexican Lucha Libre want to actaually see Mexican Lucha Libre and not some bad wrestling show that resembles what we see here at home.

Joe Lavaia should be booking AAA.

  7. Cause he mentioned Latin Lover daniel?

Is Jack Evans still under ROH contract? How can he work for AAA then?

How is AAA going to get rid of Konnan?

  8. The good thing is that Santito’s company will surely take La Familia away from AAA. The most important absence will be Cibernetico, not only he’s out the longest, but he’s the bigger draw. On the other hand, it doesn’t really matters if he “works” or not, he’ll still be booked as a guest and he will keep doing promos. Hope the edit them out of the TV show since 12 promos about the same would suck. The thing they have going is that Cibernetico is all the talk these days, everyone is talking about him getting toasted, and it has not been aired yet, but the gossip shows and magazines are all over it all day and night. So he’ll get lots of steam for his comeback in March.

La Parka Jr has it hard, I doubt he’ll be back that early, and although they builded up his leave, it has been overshadow by Ciber, no one is claiming for Kenzo or whoever´s blood, so his comeback might be not that important. I think they’ll probably book him for the first week of Febraury and have him “re-injured”.

Aguayo is irrelevant. He´s not even drawing. He’ll become PdM’s valet and will probably work better that way, he already played the role in Puebla. If he’s smart, he would be back by Dec 21, so he can claim a bump in attendance in those days, but I think he might be scared by LA Park, who seems to be uncaring about his opponents to step back in the ring.

Mistico not working might affect the spot shows, but CMLL couldn’t care less, since the time he’ll be gone has already been sold with him, so the local guys are the ones getting screwed. It is possible that he’ll be gone longer and the 2 month timeline was given only for CMLL to sell more dates with him.

If anything, I expect the first part of 2008 low in attendances, regardless of those guys being out of action. I think Chilpancingo will bomb and maybe AAA will regroup, the best thing they can do is touring in places they have not visited in a long time. CMLL will have kids in for free, just like last year.

  9. AAA also needs to stop with all the Ozz/Cuervo/Escoria run ins. God they get boring after a while. But of course this isn’t the only promotion doing it.

What are the chances of Bucanero jumping to AAA?

  10. Bucanero needs money so anything is possible but if he hasn’t jumped as of yet I don’t see why he’d do so out of nowhere during the boring winter season.

  11. I wouldn’t worry that much for AAA, they have a track record of keeping things rolling no matter who goes missing. I fear CMLL for going after Mil, Rayo, Fake Demon Jr, Canek et al to attempt foiling Santo’s new promotion. Even in that scenario, I doubt Bucanero would jump even if he turns out to be working segundas.
