12/01: Mexico, GdT, IWRG, AULL, lineups

CMLL (FRI) 11/30 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, ESTO]
1) Starman & Trueno b Apocalipsis & Loco Max
2) Euforia, Nosferatu, Satánico b Fabián el Gitano, Flash, Mascara Purpura
3) Alex Koslov, Rey Bucanero, Shocker b Black Warrior, Lizmark Jr., Nitro
4) Dos Caras Jr., LA Park, Marco Corelone b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Héctor Garza, Texano Jr.
5) Averno b Místico [NWA MIDDLE]

Yes, he won. Averno’s now beaten Mistico three straight times. He’s the 85th champion, and Mistico is down to ‘only’ the IWRG Super Middleweight and CMLL Welterweight titles. This is title change #6 of the month.

Averno won the first fall, Mistico won the second. In the third, Euforia (as Averno’s second) distracted Babe Richard, and Averno yanked Mistico’s mask and pinned him. Ovaciones insists that Averno didn’t need to do that to win, for what it’s worth. Mistico was livid after the match, ripping up Babe Richard’s shirt for making that call. Mask vs Mask challenges, as well.

Park got away with a low blow on Perro to get his team the win.

Toscano is out injuried. Nitro replaced him in his match. ESTO says Lizmark Jr. would replace Toscano in next week’s hair match if he’s unable to wrestle next week.

Partial GdT results, via ovaicones and a second hand superluchas report (since the site isn’t coming up for me)

AAA TV (FRI) 11/30 Centro de Convenciones de Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas
2) Gran Apache & Mari Apache b Billy Boy & Fabi Apache and Cinthia Moreno & Oriental and Ayako Hamada & Mr. Niebla [AAA MIXED TAG]

4) Bogeman, el Hijo Del Anibal, Negro Navarro, Pantera b Cien Caras Jr., Damián 666, Mascara Ano 2000 Jr., Pierroth
5) Black Terry b Cerebro Negro [hair]

Black Terry got a little help from Fantasma de la Opera, who hit Cerebro Negro with a chair. Fantasma is saving Black Terry’s hair so he can win himself later on, we believe.

After losing, Pierroth challenged Negro Navarro to a hair match. Pierroth just lost his hair and is bald.

Trauma 2 and Golem got hurt in their match.

AULL (SUN) 11/25 Arena Lopez Mateos [the gladiatores]
1) Pequeno Demonio & Pequeno Rebelde b Rey Cristal
2) Blasfemia & Herejia b Militar & Star Cat

4) Sadico b Yakuza [AULL LIGHT]
5) Villano III DRAW Mano Negra
6) Dr. Wagner Jr., Onita Santana, Sepulturero I DQ Atlantis, Robin Maravilla, Terry 2000 [ri]

Atlantis pulled Wagner’s mask in the main event. Villano and Mano Negra, pretending it was 1977 with masks and belts, pinned each other for double three count.

Expected title match happens on Tuesday.

  1. if anyone here can up averno-mistico tonight it will be great, thanks.

this month of CMLL sounds great to me, the end of the year show will be good enough, also last night show sounds good.

  2. Even though i’m bored shitless of Mistico/Averno, Averno winning the title gives me a bit of hope that it won’t just be the usual match between these 2 that they could work in their sleep – it at least makes me feel a bit intrigued and want to see the match. I’m quite pleased with the outcome as Averno has consistently been awesome this past 5 years or so but has just as consistently been overshadowed and not had the credit/wins that he deserves. Hopefully with a title win over Mistico, this finally makes a big difference in terms of how the average fans see him now also. I would actually go as far to say he has surpassed Ultimo Guerrero as CMLL’s top rudo worker.

Perro/Park is a bit uninspiring and random – but if Park’s up for it, could still be fun, and won’t detract from the show. At the very least it’s an extra match, so i now have 5 matches to see instead of 4.

Not so good is Volador apparently dropping out of the tercera to be replaced by Sagrado. Sagrado’s ok, but he’s no Volador Jr. You’d think the sensible thing to do would be to replace Dos Caras with Sagrado to at least give the impression of the Reyes Del Aire as a coherent group, even if there’s no title on the line. But as others have mentioned, it appears that CMLL deliberately don’t want to team these 3 guys up at all. And it would also make sense because Caras…well… sucks.

GdR is a joke. Despite the fact that they could still easily squeeze another few matches in with the usual 3.45hrs covering shows from one weekend – even with a full extra hour, with this repeat they still haven’t show one single thing more than they usually do. I’m sure it wouldn’t have hurt them to go back a further week for example to air that segunda. :(

Tuesday’s card, for the 2nd week in a row, looks awesome, with 5 potentially excellent matches out of 6. Hopefully that’s just a lazy typo and Dorada still exists…. But yeah, Tuesday cards with 6 matches and no women is the way to go for us undercard fans! :)

  3. Eh, the GdR repeated match was expected. Disapointed but expected.

The Tuesday Coliseo shows are being booked way better than the Friday shows. I dunno who was in charge of booking the Tuesday Coliseo shows but I’m sure he relished the opportunity of booking Arena Mexico and has taken advantage of it. Hopefully he takes over the Friday shows although I’m not sure what the Tuesday ArenaMex crowds have been like.

If ANYONE can drag SOMETHING out of Perrito, it’s gonna be Parka. Just look at the pictures from last night – he already busted up Perrito’s nose legit which must have made the kid cry. They don’t bust your nose on those reality shows!

I gotta disagree with you here Henrik… Sagrado > Volador Jr. in 2007. Volador has gotten SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO repetitive and doesn’t even do his cool dives any more, he just sticks to the somersault, asai moonsault and tope suicida. (with an occasional moonsault that is tame compared to Valiente and Sombra)

It’s gotta be Mascarita Dorada. I knew that typo would come soon enough.

Pictures also show that Flash did in fact return last night which is great news. Let’s hope the injury bug doesn’t hit again any time soon and we get some fun winter matches with Valiente, Flash and Sombra teaming!

    Top 4 on TV, Chui?

  4. Oh yeah, and Nitro was such a last minute sub that he wore Apocalipsis’ mask from the opener! *L*

  5. Flash’s dive looks awesome. Waaay too much height to be his usual over the top somersault and he ain’t coming from the corner – looks like an awesome springboard to me. :)

Wasn’t his absence planned due to him getting the metal plates out of his previous arm injury, as opposed to something new?

Still no news on whether this show next week is on PPV? I’m not majorly worried if it is, as i’ll only miss out on Valiente/SuperNova/Virus if it’s not, but it would still be nice to see that segunda.

  6. Nitro should be really shocked that he went to the masks vendors out of ArMex and couldn’t find a mask of his character…

  7. The last time CMLL did a PPV, the last episode of tv before the PPV promoted it as such. That would’ve been the 9/22 edition of CMLL/Gala Mex I think. And I’ll be looking for Robert’s review of that episode because I thought it was good.

Since Chui didn’t see/hear promos for SKY on CMLL today, that means it’s not a PPV.

  8. A promo that indeed was ran, was for Todo x Todo. It was billed as “Televisa Deportes Presenta”

  9. You know I was just thinking that it’s great the women are opening up on Friday b/c if it isn’t a PPV, their match has zero chance of being seen. But I guarantee that somehow, someway, their match will make it on TV. I’m not sure how but somehow it will. Maybe the regular show will air the top 4 and we’ll all expect the great looking segunda on GdR but they’ll show the ladies instead, just to fuck with us and show they will air an opener as long as it isn’t anyone interesting in the match.:)
