11/20: New Minis Champion, Puebla

CMLL (TUE) 11/20 Arena Mexico
1) Fire & Pequeño Violencia b Electrico & Fantasy
2) Luna Magica, Marcela, Princesa Blanca b Hiroka, La Nazi, Mima Shimoda
3) Metálico, Mictlán, Tigre Blanco b Diamante Negro Jr., Nitro, Skandalo
4) Pequeño Damian 666 b Pequeño Olímpico [CMLL MINI]
5) Felino, La Sombra, Stuka Jr. b Misterioso II, Ohara, Texano Jr.
6) Atlantis, Olímpico, Último Guerrero b Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Negro Casas

Pequeño Damian 666 becomes the 10th champion while Pequeño Olímpico falls in his tenth (known) defense. It’s the third CMLL title change in the last 19 days, all tecnicos losing to rudos. This was Mini Damian’s fourth shot at the belt, second this year in the main CMLL areans, and it wasn’t a big surprise he won it. It seems like the plan is for the title to flow to Mascarita Dorada, but at the pace CMLL does things, I’d be surprised if that match happened before March. Mini Damian will be a fine and deserving champion between now and then.

The match itself was totally technical and totally clean, Mini Damian taking falls one and three.

Mini Olimpico was champion for 3 years, 11 months and 13 days. (That’s 1443 days.) While the first couple of years of Mini Olimpico’s title reign were unnoteworthy, that seemed more a result of CMLL’s disinterest in minis than anything relating perosnally to Mini Olimpico. The division has picked up over the last year (mostly on the strength of Mini Perros del Mal and Bam Bam, but also slightly increased booking emphasis), and Mini Olimpico at least went out as a strong champion after his feuds with Gitanito in Neza and previous wins over Mini Damian 666 in their title matches.

Other notes from the show
– tag champs used the ropes to pin Negro and Panther in the main event
– Sombra surprised and beat Ohara again, and still wants that title shot
– Skandalo got strechered out of his match

CMLL (MON) 11/19 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) Espiritu Maligno & Karisma b Blue Center & King Jaguar
2) Centella de Oro, the Tigre, Tigre Rojo b Furia Chicana, Mr. Rafaga, Siki Ozama
3) Mr. Aguilita, Pequeño Damian 666, Pierrothito b Mascarita Dorada, Shockercito, Tzuki
4) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b La Sombra, Sagrado, Volador Jr.
5) Marco Corelone, Místico, Rey Bucanero b Atlantis, Olímpico, Toscano

Triad of Terror did challenge for the belts after their match. It doesn’t sound like we’re getting it quite yet.

Guerrerros del Ring #114 has Rey Bucanero on the cover.

site note: Expect short updates the next couple of days. Lucha Times should go up this evening, and this week’s AAA recap should turn up on Thursday afternoon.

  1. I can totally see Mascarita Dorada vs Pequeno Damian 333 for the belt in the segunda at Arena Coliseo on a TUESDAY SHOW in March.

“- Skandalo got strechered out of his match”

Did they take the stretcher all the way back to Puebla?:)

DeporTV updated with lower quality clips than usual unless it’s just me.
