11/17: Mexico, lineups, CAN52

ESTO

CMLL (FRI) 11/16 Arena Mexico [ovaciones, superluchas, ESTO]
1) Rayo Tapatio I & Rayo Tapatio II b Polvora & Vaquero
2) Loco Max, Nitro, Virus b Metalico, Neutron, Super Nova
3) Sagrado, Valiente, Volador Jr. b Ephesto, Mephisto, Misterioso II
4) Amapola b Lady Apache [CMLL WOMEN]
5) Black Warrior, Lizmark Jr., Toscano b Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Sombra
6) Atlantis, Averno, Ultimo Guerrero b Blue Panther, Dos Caras Jr., Mistico

In the main event, Averno pinned Mistico (which Ovaciones notes as “Mistico lost, again”.) They talked title match and mask match after, but neither is on the lineup for next week.

Semimain set up a Shocker/Bucanero vs Warrior/Toscano hair feud. Shocker and Rey make sense, but wasn’t it just last week that CMLL was discussing the potential greatness of Black Warrior & Lizmark Jr. as a tag team?

There was a moment of applause for Gran Markus.

Lady Apache took the first fall, but Amapola rallied back to win two and three clean with backcrackers. (Yay!) Match went 9 minutes, by far the shortest one on the show. Marcela, Dark Angel, and Diana were mentioned as future challengers.

Virus threw Metalico over the top rope to the floor in their match, and Metalico landed bad enough that he needed to be helped to the back. Tecnicos wanted a DQ, didn’t get it, and ended up losing.

In case you didn’t think Arena Mexico was running enough lucha events, there’s a special music/lucha libre combo show Sunday. SuperLuchas wrote about it earlier in the week, MedioTiempo writes about it today, but neither seems sure about the matches. Mistico, Dos Caras Jr., Volador Jr., Blue Demon Jr., Averno, Lizmark Jr., Black Warrior, and Perro Aguayo Jr. are listed as appearing; maybe it’ll just be one atomicos and lots of Mexican rap.

Arturo Rivera writes about that show in his column. He also says Mascarita Dorada should be happy with his first match not airing on TV, as Mini Black Warrior couldn’t hold up his end of the match.

Medio Tiempo has a Gran Markus obit.

CMLL (TUE) 11/20 Arena Mexico
1) Electrico & Fantasy vs Fire & Pequeño Violencia
2) Luna Magica, Marcela, Princesa Blanca vs Hiroka, La Nazi, Mima Shimoda
3) Metálico, Mictlán, Tigre Blanco vs Diamante Negro Jr., Nitro, Skandalo
4) Pequeño Olímpico vs Pequeño Damian 666 [CMLL MINI]
5) Felino, La Sombra, Stuka Jr. vs Misterioso II, Ohara, Texano Jr.
6) Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Negro Casas vs Atlantis, Olímpico, Último Guerrero

This will be (known) title shot #4 for Mini Damian 666. I think this is going to be the last one he needs. Note Ohara and Sombra will continue feuding in the semimain.

CMLL (FRI) 11/23 Arena Mexico
1) Astro Boy & Starman vs Calígula & Méssala
2) Dark Angel, Lady Apache, Marcela vs Amapola, Medussa, Princesa Sujei
3) La Máscara, La Sombra, Mascara Purpura vs Ephesto, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
4) Dos Caras Jr., Marco Corelone, Volador Jr. vs el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Villano IV, Villano V
5) Místico, Rey Bucanero, Shocker vs Averno, Black Warrior, Toscano

Both feuds presented this week return for next week, so there may be some actual legs to them. Maybe they’re the actual 12/07 matches?

This is Villano IV’s return to Arena Mexico following his knee injury.

Tercera could be fun. Segunda is Amapola facing likely challengers – we’ll see if they’re going straight to a rematch.

CMLL CAN52 Guerreros del Ring #103 has
11/09 Mexico: Alex Koslov, Felino, Volador Jr. DQ Misterioso II, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca
11/11 Coliseo: Damian 666, Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Mr. Aguila b Negro Casas, Shocker, Volador Jr.
feature: Mini Pierroth in the gym

  1. Two-hours of Lucha on Galavision today. I dream of the day when Galavision somehow gets both CMLL and AAA. I wonder how they’ll get everything into two-hours? Hope they edit out all the replays instead of taking a complete match out.

  2. Yeah. US Gala. Will be very interesting to see what they do with two-hours. They can fit three matches into two hours whether it’s AAA or CMLL. Just take out the replays during AAA, and it’s fine.

Galavision US is not happy with AAA. They’re aware of the 11/4 episode where Scorpio stabbed a Stone with a fork, Lider was slammed onto lightbulbs, causing blood to flow from his back, plus burning tables, and all the other creative stuff they do. They’d like to get CMLL back, but that’s between Gala US and Televisa.

  3. I have to say, today’s AAA was enjoyable. Singles matches is a nice switch from the endless six and eight man tags on AAA TV. Two-hours is much better than three.

Just got back for a Rey Mysterio autograph signing here in Tampa. Line extended about 1/4 mile or more. Amazing this guy was making $150 a night in Mexico just a few years ago.

Now I have to get ready for Llaves y Candados. Can’t wait for that.

  4. I agree with Keith. 2 hours goes by so much faster than 3. And I liked the gauntlet match. Poor Poor Laredo Kid though.

Oh and the lights out match was fun. Can All elegido matches be like that?

  5. 3 hours is for PPV.

I knew the singles match format was more entertaining when some relatives actually watched a few matches with me instead of leaving the room. They hate those weekly six or eight man tags that are out-of-control and make no sense.

Tim. Do you go to TNA tapings? I’m in Florida and I’ll be there in a few weeks.

  6. So Llaves Y Candados from Monterrey showed the main and semi from 10/28 show. No crowd noise during the semi. Just blows the mind that Carta Blanca would even lend their logo to this show.
