November Lucha shows in the Chicago area.

There’s a run of them all of the sudden. Or I haven’t been paying attention. Each is easily possible. These are the four I know about right now

The NWA Pro/NWA Midwest show is Saturday in Hammond, IN. (map) Here’s the final card

1) The Skullkrusher vs Tyler Black [NWA HEARTLAND]
2) Jay Ryan vs The Metal Master [NWA MIDWEST HEAVY]
3) U-Gene Dinsmore vs Jason Dukes
4) Misterioso Sr., Magno vs El Dandy, Incognito
5) Adam Pearce vs X-Pac [NWA WORLD HEAVY]
6) Karl Anderson, Joey Ryan vs Phoenix Star, Zokre [NWA TAG]
7) Cassandro vs Cobra II vs Rocky Romero
8) Blue Demon Jr., LA Park vs Nicho, Super Parka

The poster includes Sicodelcio Jr. and Rob Conway – just a little outdated.

The Gary Post-Tribune has the same basic preview that’s been posted mentioned elsewhere.

They’ve got the building set up for 4,800. It’ll be interesting to see how they draw. Anyone else going? The card itself doesn’t feature anything I haven’t seen live (except maybe El Dandy) or anything I know is going to be blow away awesome, so I mostly interested in going just because I haven’t gone to a show in quite some time and have nothing better to do.

Naturally, someone’s running a lucha show at Congress Theater on Sunday. You’d think this would be a weekend to avoid, but you’re not promoting lucha shows in Chicago.

1) Silueta Azul, Galactivo vs Tigre Oriental, Bomanunta
2) Impact Rojo, Tigre vs Bazooka, Mr. Ceraje
3) Silueta Dorada, Pone El Suuuuuelta vs Angel de la Muerte, Pentagono del Infierno
4) Great Malaky, Great Cheyenne vs Atlo, La Princesa
5) Discovery, Samuary vs El Reo, Infernal
6) Huracan Ramriez Jr., Huracan Ramirez vs Guerrerio del Futuro, Aguila del America

If you’re flying in Huracan Ramirez, are you really flying in anyone? No offense to the Huracan Ramirez clones out there reading this, but it’s basically a random guy in a Huracan Ramirez mask, and one of a dozen different guys under the mask. You don’t really need plane tickets, just the masks. I hope they’re not flying someone in.

That’s not all! This thread says someone (else) is running Congress on 11/23 (the Friday after Thanksgiving, which is a smart day)

4) Super Muneco, Octagoncito vs Lucifer, Guerrerito del Futuro
5) Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Lizmark vs Villano III, Hijo de Cien Caras

Eh.

A promotion I’m unfamiliar with at a location I don’t know is also running a lucha show with local names only on 11/30 (Fri). I’ve at least heard of the guys

1) Spider Boy vs Quiet Storm
2) Samuray del Sol vs Isasis Velaquez
3) Ultimo Akara vs Lamar Titan
4) Bazzuka, Reo vs Impacto Rojo, Angel del Infierno
5) Sulieta Dorada, Pentagon vs Pepe Suavesito, Mr. Coraje
6) Dorado, Discovery vs Aguila del America, Infernal

Since a lot of the top guys are repeats from this Sunday’s Congress show, I wonder if there’s same promoter? Who can say. If I had any idea where this neighborhood was, I’d be more interested in going than either of the Congress shows. I’m down on the whole Congress Theater experience at this point and don’t feel like trucking down there for average cards. On the other hand, this location appears to be a random warehouse with not much parking nearby, which presents it’s own issues.

  1. “6) Dorado, Discovery vs Aguila del America, Infernal”

Correct me if I am wrong is this Discovery not the AAA Discovery?

  2. Isn’t that NWA card a TV taping fort the show on Coulors or whatever channel it’s on?

That’s not the CZW Quiet Storm is it?

  3. I think this Discovery is the AAA Discovery, but we’ve not gotten that confirmed.

It’s highly unlikely to be CZW’s Quiet Storm, but I too laughed at that thought when I saw the name there.

Not sure if it’s a TV taping. I should ask someone!

  4. Yea, I’ve seen Tzuki live – there was the time I saw him right after Ultimo Monito debuted. (Whatever happened to that naming contest? Naming contests don’t work well with CMLL.)

I’ve seen Mascarita Sagrada a couple times without being sure who’s under the hood.

  5. All these shows make me think of my “every asshole” theory. If someone gets a lucha show off the ground in a city, then every asshole in town is also doing one close to your show. Kind of like when Gary Juster did Gwinett/Atlanta. Some asshole just had to try the international ballroom around the same time with some of the same names. Ditto Ron Skoler at the Forum in LA. Some asshole just had to run a week later than him with some of the same CMLL names.

Hammond should get 800 paid. It’s probably a venue TNA would do very well in for a PPV.

  6. Oh man, you’ve seen Tzuki live so you = my hero. If he ever comes back to Chicago I may consider making the trip.
