AAA #647

AAA# 647, taped 09/16/07, aired 10/20/07

Nothing’s quite says AAA like them missing the shot of Zorro turning rudo. I don’t blame the guy who zoomed in Konnan, I blame whoever was in the production truck choosing that shot of Konnan and didn’t have an instant replay of Zorro turning to make up for missing it. It’s not like anyone couldn’t figure out what happened by the aftermath, but you watch the show for the moment not the aftermath.

This was about a 180 (or maybe 175) from how they did the Billy Boy reveal on the same show. Maybe it’s just luck. That was all very well done. Even Aero Star being taken out works great, not just for goofiness, but because Fabi’s love for Alfa was sealed by him absolutely killing a man. They ARE rudos, still.

Mexican Powers match didn’t do too much! By their standards, and only because the post match angle was going to make up for it. Baby steps.

Ricky Marvin was good, but he wasn’t used in a spot where he meant anything. Maybe it’s because they didn’t know long he’d be around (or even if he’d be back), but if you’re bringing in guys in ways that don’t mean much, why are you bringing them in? With that said, they started off the X-Pac/Laredo Kid nicely and it’s a shame we don’t end up getting that feud. You can always hope they pick it up later, but X-Pac isn’t going to be here forever.

Cage match was a cage match. If Chessman had gotten killed by Mesias in the title match, as was the plan, would he have come out here and made the save the same way? (Yea, probably.)

  1. This was a great show. With the exception of the useless and redundant main event this is the direction AAA should be on.

I loved the part where Ron Killings was forced to dance with the Mexican hat on and then he ran away. That was so hilarious and priceless. Latin Lover then brought in the Mexican flag and it looked like the technicos were going to celebrate but then they were cut off which sucked because that celebration would have been nice to see.

The show looked good outdoors in the sunlight and the entrance set was what it should be.

It looks like the whole point of Ricky Marvin being brought in was to get the home town pop, which is the reason why he didn’t come out to Ricky Martin music but instead something that sounds more like traditional Jalisco music. But I think that the home town affect wore off when people realized that he was only in the match to get his butt kicked.

  2. here’s a show i was looking forward too and was disappointed. reading this blog, i knew all the results but i wanted to see it for myself since i’m a wrestling fan. billy boy surprise was ruined for the crowd, by the crowd. halloween’s intro was a mess. ricky marvin didn’t do anything and he’s a damn good wrestler. konnan’s surprise was poor and i had the exact same thoughts about zorro’s turn as you did. how they ruined the shot of one of their bigger faces turning…ok, it’s lucha. it’s not a surprise that they ruined the shot.
