Medio Tiempo clears up the Coliseo closure story. After tonight’s show, all Tuesday Coliseo events will be at Arena Mexico. Sunday Coliseo will continue for another month, but also move to Arena Mexico starting 12/02. From 12/02 to “Janurary” (no date specified), all the weekly stuff will be in Arena Mexico. Once road construction finishes in January of ’08, everything goes back to the normal schedule.
This easily explains why they’re running Friday Arena Mexico all winter; CMLL didn’t really have an option to do otherwise.
Best I can figure, CMLL had three choices on how to handle the construction issues (which sound out of their control)
1) stop running the Coliseo shows for the time being
– that’d be a lot of lost income, promised dates, experience
2) find another small location to run the show
– I have no idea if this is a possibility
3) just run the events in Arena Mexico
– gotta figure they’re going to close off everything but floor seating to save on costs.
3 makes the most sense to me – why pay for an arena when you already have one, though you’d think they just pull Tuesday shows during December since they’re not exactly must have shows anyway. Tradition, I guess. It’s going to look quite goofy for a few months whenever someone takes a picture of the crowd. That reminds me

* people who haven’t gotten to wrestle Arena Mexico now get to! There’s normally some quite random people on the Christmas week cards who are now going to be thrilled, and maybe we’ll get some good stuff out it.
* empty looking crowd = less pointless crowd shots?
* pressure to book bigger cards, given all the room.

OR…
* If anything, the opening match will feature really low card guys but they’ll change the TV schedule to only air the top 2 matches and make sure those low card guys never see the light of day on TV.
* Crowd shots from months ago will be used. i.e. Nothing will change.
* Crappier random cards booked b/c they are under no pressure to draw with a built-in excuse as to why nobody is coming.
As you can see I’m very high on CMLL right now.
