Some quick stats on Averno/MisticoThey meet tonight, and I’m far more hyped about this than any other match I can think about. It helps a lot that I know I’ll be able to see it next Saturday.

13 Mistico wins, 3 Averno wins, and 1 GDL match I don’t have a result for. 81.25% is a lower winning percentage than I thought for, and I wonder if that April 18th match was meant to be a title match as well (because that’s the only reason Averno won – they may not want to put another title on Mistico for fear of never finding a way off of him.)
Mistico and Averno have met 32 times in Arena Coliseo matches (singles, tags, trios) and Mistico’s team is 25-7 (78%) in those. They’ve met 37 times in Arena Mexico matches, and Mistico is 32-5 (86.5%) in that building. Four of the five losses were the early tag title parts of the Black Warrior turn and the other was to set up a title match.
Under the name Mistico (so not including Astro Boy records), Mistico’s won 76% of the time in Arena Coliseo and Arena Mexico.
I’ve watched the leadup trios on CAN52 (recap to be posted.) Mistico had his NWA Middleweight belt, Averno did not have his, and Averno won the first fall completely clean before winning the third fall via low blow. Sure seems like it’d set up a Mistico title win today – so why isn’t it on the line? They did talk awful lot about mask vs mask (but they always do.)
I too am looking forward to the match tonight, especially if it leads to an Averno win that sets up a title match the following week. It’s another good chance to get a title off Mistico and blame it on all his nagging injuries but that’s logical and CMLL booking dictates Mistico will just go over clean tonight. I’m fine with that as long as it’s a good match.
I can’t believe they only met once in 2006 though. Either we’re missing results or Mistico really got sidetracked with his Black Warrior feud.
