10/21: Accion, DeporTV

Ovaciones’ news update mentions Mistico took a foot to the eye from an Ultimo Guerrero kick on Friday. In his column, Arturo Rivera wonders how TNA is doing to draw anything when they’re canceling press conferences and wonders why Santo would silhouette Santo/Park into a Russian roulette with non-important people. We think alike! Sounds like AAA had no idea Nicho was going to no-show. Psicosis is mentioned as leader of the Vipers, so don’t hold your breath waiting for Abismo to turn up again.

Accion had the usual main event highlights.

CMLL: UG getting his double spinning submission, dives by Mistico, and Negro just doing set up work. UG rips up Mistico’s mask before both he and Atlantis get Atlantida.

AAA: Intocable, Chessman, Cibernetico vs Zorro, Abismo Negro, Electroshock from the Pena show. Electroshock highlighted as a big surprise. He seems to have lost that vest, which was good move. Cibernetico is only seen on the outside, beating up Escoria. With it down to three, Intocable escapes as Chessman cuts off Zorro. Chessman tries to spear Zorro thru a flaming table, but Zorro moves and Chessman breaks the table by himself. The table breaks clean and the fire almost goes out on impact, so it seems to be one of the safer dumb bumps Chessman’s taken lately.

DeporTV America was back to the usual Tuesday highlights

CMLL (TUE) 10/16 Arena Coliseo
2) Lady Apache, Luna Magica, Marcela b Diosa Maya, Medussa, Rosa Negra
– Picked up just before the comeback, it’s a usual women’s trios match. Apache beats Amapola clean with a Atlantida.

3) Ephesto, Mentallo, Samurai Shiro b La Máscara, Máximo, Stuka Jr.
– almost all Maximo highlights. We do see Shiro, but he’s just taking Maximo’s corner butt bump to the crotch. Mentallo schoolboy trips Maximo while he’s running the ropes, but ends up taking a kiss. Maximo falls backwards onto Ephesto for the winning pin.

4) Bam Bam b Pequeño Violencia [hair]
– Bam Bam loves his tornillo dives. Violencia takes a monkey flip to the floor, and Bam Bam follows with a double jump tornillo. Violencia takes a huge bump on a headscissors, and Bam Bam gets in his running slingshot tornillo. ‘rana for the win. We do see Violencia cut and shaved 90% of the way.

5) Black Warrior, Lizmark Jr., Mictlán b Alex Koslov, Shocker, Volador Jr.
– announcers explained Shocker is not only 1000% Guapo, but “1000% Awesome.” I did not know. Not much Evil Mictlan except for him taking a Volador dive and a hold. Lizmark fouls Volador rather obviously at one point, but Alex and Shocker get clean submissions/pins for the match.

  1. CMLL on FSE just ended. Ran from about 1:15 to 2:15 am. Cubs is so right about Corleone needing to turn rudo and be an opponent for Dos Caras Jr. for the title. Corleone is not clicking with fans as a tecnico. Coliseo had a small crowd, but I think this was the Coliseo taping that ran against the AAA show. During Accion clips, they said the Pena Memorial left people “waiting outside”, which is how they express a sellout, so it could’ve hurt Coliseo.

On Galavision AAA, the VdE crowd was noticably smaller than last year’s crowd. Most of the upper deck was empty this year.

In this week’s Observer, Meltzer talks about AAA ratings vs. CMLL ratings in Mexico. He’s obviously being fed info by Konnan. I’m not buying those numbers. I’m not saying AAA can’t beat CMLL in TV ratings, but I don’t believe the numbers to be so high.

  2. I was also just thinking that the middle of December is going to be very busy with TNA, Santo’s show in Toreo, AAA’s big show, and CMLL’s year-end PPV all within days of each other.

  3. I saw FSE episode as well. The
main event was mostly Toscano testing how high can Corleone jump. At least Koslov did alot
    less posing this time.

What was the total attendance for VDE?

  4. Meltzer seems to be getting numbers from Konnan again, so we don’t for sure, but the cameras don’t lie. Konnan has a bad habit of inflating numbers. I remember reading in WON that Juvi did a show in Xochimilco with Konnan on the show and it “sold out”. About a week later, I saw photos in the lucha mags, and it was far from the truth.

I thought main event on FSE was ok. I ignore Toscano, but Sangre Azteca leaving the ring with a bloody nose, and cutting a good promo was enjoyable.

  5. Sorry for misusing this topic, but @thecubsfan: the Wrestler Card Index of your homepage does not work any more.

  6. If anyone recorded the show or knows where I can view the Mentallo match online, I would be forever in debt to them. :)

  7. I think I’ve got it fixed. I figured out how to spot the errors, so I’ll keep checking them the next few days.
