10/12: Mexico notes, IWRG, Laredo, Wagner, Leon

Mistico shaves Misterioso/ESTO

CMLL (FRI) 10/12 Arena Mexico
1) Metalico & Trueno vs Arkangel & Hooligan
2) Leono, Stuka Jr., Super Nova vs Loco Max, Ohara, Okumura
3) La Mascara, Rey Bucanero, Sombra vs Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca, Virus
4) Alex Koslov, Blue Panther, Ultimo Dragon vs Averno, Black Warrior, Olimpico
5) Mistico, Negro Casas, Shocker vs Atlantis, Toscano, Ultimo Guerrero

The closest thing to a story is Shocker’s return to main event. It’d be nice if this meant Shocker’s return to being awesome, but I wouldn’t hold your breath on that.

Besides the stuff previously mentioned, ESTO teases Averno vs Koslov for Averno’s title if Alex can beat him tonight.

Both Esto and Ovaciones mention Arkangel will be headed to Canada on 11/05 (and gone for a few weeks) for some shows and some training. I presumed this was the Ultimo Dragon affiliated UWA promotion, but they haven’t been running shows from a while by the looks of their website. Reforma (via Jazzo @ el Martinete) has an interview with Arkangel, but I still don’t know where in Canada he’s going. It’s a big country, and they get mad when you confuse their geography.

Also, Mistico’s workload is on the way UP because he’s got to start working on the soap opera again. UP, they can’t give him time off from the ring while he’s doing something else. So dumb.

IWRG (THU) 10/11 Arena Naucalpan [superluchas]
1) Super Espia b Latin Brother
2) Nemesis IWRG & Rockero del Diablo b Simbolo & Star Boy
3) Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro b Freelance, Tortuguillo Ninja I, Tortuguillo Ninja II
4) Black Terry, Cerebro Negro, Enterrador 2000 b Fantasma de la Opera, Negro Navarro, Veneno
5) Bogeman, Negro Casas, Ultraman Jr. DQ Enfermero Jr., Nitro, Pierroth

The recap mentions Black Terry successfully defended his title over Fantasma de la Opera on Sunday; I never saw a card for that show, but that makes sense. On this show, Black Terry won in two falls with a low blow in the second. In the main event, Pierroth fouled Bogeman for the loss.

El Manana has a text and video interview with Laredo Kid. He says he’ll be out two months here. (Thanks Chui)

Ovaciones has an interview with Wagner, where he again vows to make all his already scheduled dates and stresses that he’s not going to AAA. He wants his own schedule, it doesn’t make sense to go to some place else that’ll decide it for him. Wagner has a longer interview in Noticas-Oax, though nothing is mention about his departure. The Doctor does shoot down those rumors that lucha libre is fixed, calling lies from the jealous people. I’m so relieved.

CMLL (MON) 10/15 Domo de la Feria de Leon [AM.com.mx]
1) Astro Boy, Stuka Jr., Super Nova vs Loco Max, Skandalo, Virus
2) Mascara Purpura, Maximo, Valiente vs Ephesto, Misterioso II, Sangre Azteca
3) Alex Koslov, Heavy Metal, Mistico vs Black Warrior, Toscano, Ultimo Guerrero

In ESTO, the Mexico TNA reprsenative says the 12/15 Toreo de Cuatro Caminos show will be a PPV. TNA is scheduled to run a US PPV on 12/02 (Turning Point), so that can’t be right unless they’re doing a Mexico only PPV – that’d be a disaster. TNA’s gotten a half hour show on TVC, but I still don’t know how they’re going to sell tickets for these shows as is (they don’t really do that in the US), much less PPVs.

Santo and Park drew 6000 in Spain. Park is back in this hemisphere, as part of the NWA Pro show tomorrow in Irving, Texas. Sicdelico Jr. gets a shot at the NWA Heavyweight title on the show as well.

Cibernetico headlines a show Saturday, in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora. He’s oddly listed as WWA Champion here; he’s a former champion, they got confused.

Sydney Morning Herald has a brief guide of things to do while in Mexico City, including going to Arena Coliseo.

  1. Aransay says the TVC TNA will be one hour long. The article sayas that the show will be PPV worthy, not that it will be airing on PPV.

BTW, monterreyans are saying that the guys working Arena Monterrey will be working a mtineee over here in Torreon and an afternoon show in Saltillo before heading over to ArMty… I have not heard about that, but Wagner is doing a show a week earlier, wonder if CMLL will try to compete with Wagner?

  2. Puebla card was updated, out goes Wagner (first of many cases, I assume) and in goes La Sombra, good luck trying to work with Villanos XXXL and Perrillo, I doubt he’ll do anything.

  3. Missed the first 2, but Super Nova had a bad dive.

    3) Rudos won the first fall but lost the following 2.

    4) Blue Panther makes Black Warrior quit, it seems Panther went from feuding with Atlantis to feuding with the former Black Panther.

The show was so un-interesting that Ernesto Ocampo was better off surfing the web than at ArMex since he was posting at the boards…

One of the radio announcers, even said that the main event was “sleep producing, actually, the whole show”. I guess CMLL doesn’t care about those guys since they also were critical of Toscano’s ugly Cena-esque outfit, and made other comments you don’t really hear on TV, like saying that Koslov and Dragon were not doing nothing.

  4. Sorry, I forgot the fifth match, I kid you not when I say the announcers took 2 or 3 minutes talking about the “great” Brazilian soccer team from 1970, all of these, as the third fall was taking place!!!!

    The result…

Los rudos los rudos los RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDOS

    Screw job, of course.

  5. New lineups up already w/ three interesting notes:

    1) Bam Bam/Pequeno Violencia hair match.

    2) Mentalo makes his debut on Tuesday.

    3) Shiro Koshinaka working as Samurai Shiro against guys he has no business working against…
