10/05: Mexico, CMLL notes, AAA in SLP, FMLL

Fantasma de la Opera’s white mask
Mr. Reyes

Tonight’s cards:

CMLL (FRI) 10/05 Arena Mexico
1) Bracito de Oro & Tzuki vs Fire & Pierrothito
2) India Sioux, Lady Apache, Marcela vs Hiroka, Mima Shimoda, Rosa Negra
3) Rey Bucanero, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Misterioso Jr., Sangre Azteca, Texano Jr.
4) Dr. Wagner Jr., Shocker, Sombra vs Averno, Black Warrior, Mephisto
5) Blue Panther, Mistico, Negro Casas vs Atlantis, Lizmark Jr., Ultimo Guerrero

ESTO states Lizmark Jr. will miss today’s Arena Mexico show and the next 10 days of action. Dr. Wagner broke his nose. No replacement is mentioned, but that kinda kills the point of the main event. (CMLL.com doesn’t have any thing on it.) The other big tease for the night is “What side is Dr. Wagner Jr. on?”

ESTO runs a story on LA Park vs Santo, and has more definite details. According to their article, the match will be on 12/08 in Toreo de Cuatro Caminos. LA Park hopes the contract will be signed in 15 days, though he doesn’t know where. The same articles goes over Blue Demon Jr./Espectro Jr. match – Demon says he’s got a plan, but he’s keeping it top secret.

Atlantis said he had no idea Blue Panther challenged him to a mask match till he saw it on TV and realized he accepted. (So he’s taking it back.)

ESTO confirms Mascarita Sagrada AAA) and Mini Black Warrior are coming in, so I guess the latter was correct. Reforma (via Jazzo @ el Martiente) says Mascarita Sagrada is coming is as Mascarita Dorada. Reforma hasn’t had the best of track records of late, but if this is right, this would cut it down to only one person using the Mascarita Sagrada gimmick (unless AAA makes a new one.) No mention of the minis title.

(Medio Tiempo) CMLL’s 2nd Annual Bodybuilding Contest is next week.

CMLL’s sent out some injury notes to the usual places (ESTO, Medio Tempo both list the same info): Flash is out with arm surgery, getting a plate removed that was put in the arm in February, and Shockercito and Sahori are still out for a few weeks.

AAA MUNOZ (WED) 10/03 Auditorio Miguel Barragan de San Luis Potosi [El Sol de San Luis]
4) Alebrije, Cosaco Loco, Elegido, Super Porky b Abismo Negro, Monsther, Mr. Niebla, Zumbido
5) Charly Manson, Cibernetico, Zorro DQ Head Hunter I, Kenzo Suzuki, X-Pac

Zorro turned on the Hell Brothers in the main event, but the DQ was for a blatant low blow by Kenzo on Cibernetico.

No mention of the first three matches. Semimain was extended into an atomicos. Local wrestler Cosaco Loco was hurt by Zumbido – the article says Zumbido has a lot of ability but little class.

FMLL is running a weekend run of shows in California with a lot of CMLL names. No matches announced, but they have the talent list on the psoter
10/06 (SAT): Pico Rivera Sports Arena, LA: Mistico, Negro Casas, Atlantis, Blue Demon Jr., Rayo de Jalisco, Damian 666, Mr. Aguila, Terrible, Rayman, Mephisto, Averno, Lizmark, Solar I, Alex Koslov, Cobrade Jr., Mascarita Sagrada (original), Espantito
10/07 (SUN): Los Terrenos de la Feria, Indio: Hijo de Rey Misterio replaces Atlantis. No Solar I either.
10/08 (MON): San Jose Civic Auditorium: Mistico, Hijo de Rey Misterio, Blue Demon, Averno, Mephisto, Mascarita Sagrada, El Cobarde, Rey Misterio, Cobarde Jr., Lucifer, Espantito

I took a quick look at the CMLL spot shots this weekend and didn’t spot a double booking, so everything looks good.

“Que Viva La Lucha (Wrestling in Tijuana)” airs as part of the Mill Valley Film Festival on October 13. The documentary is by an assistant proffessor of film at University of California at Santa Cruz, so they have a nice article about it. Extreme Tigre appears to be prominently involved. (Thanks to MikeInformer)

The new The Gladiatores just went up.

  1. I just moved halfway across the country, and I do not have the internets set up @ my new place yet. Since I am hardly online, when I do get on the first thing I do is check out this site because it has all of the lucha news in one place. Props to you Cubs for all the hard work you do (and to everyone who contributes).

I got a guy that befriended me on myspace that posts info about cards in Mexicali’s Arena Nacionalista. They seem to be promoting well as far as the internet goes, but it just looks like a small “indy” group. They seem to book Americans though, which made me wonder if anyone knew anything else about them. http://www.myspace.com/kleins77 is where I find the stuff about them (in Espanol of course).

  2. Anything other than Arena Mex top 3 for tomorrows show will be criminal.

And whats worse, if the potentially amazing tercera does not air in favour of Top 2 and last sundays segunda (women), then there is zero chance of it airing on a b-show next week either, at the expense of the segunda (more women)

I’m very much keeping my fingers crossed for this tercera – but over the weekend i will also be keeping a keen eye out for the DeporTv report and how much highlights they show of the torneo. :)

  3. Returning poster “Mario Rivera” is saying one of the surprises for Peña’s show is Scott Hall. And seconds the “Nicho” rumors for the TJ Family.

  4. BTW, the same radio station is airing the current ArMex show, I forgot to check Sunday and Tuesdays…

  5. Minis – I dunno
    Tecnicas won the second.
Valiente was using a black outfit, they said Valiente Jr and Hijo del Valiente are on their way -there was a post of a guy working with that name somewhere- Commentary guys said Valiente won the Rey del Aire…

  6. I think the tecnicos won the third. They’re introducing Mascarita Dorada in between matches.

  7. The feeds seems to be breaking up every five seconds on me. I’m not sure I’m going to stick with it.

  8. Minis – Tecnicos
    Luchadoras – Tecnicas
    Especial – Tecnicos
Mascarita Dorada is presented, they said he’s golden and black.
Dos Caras Jr subs Wagner, guys are saying he’s not having a good night.

It’s breaking for me as well, it was like that last week…

  9. Black Warrior hurt his ankle and was either taken out or he didn’t participate any more so Tecnicos won the semi as well (2-0?), the commentary guys (Julio Cesar) plugged the LA Park vs Hijo del Santo masks match… will he get banned from ArMex?

  10. Sounds like Toscano replaced Lizmark Jr., but Lizmark Jr. ran in for the DQ anyway.

It was totally clean for me last week. I thought I figured out it was a virus scan, but I guess not.

  11. Next week’s lineups should be awesome with the mini’s possibly as high as the tercera at Arena Mex? I hope they do 6 matches so the women can go on 2nd and the mini’s can be above them for once.:D

Both replacements are acceptable to me. Why’d Wagner no-show?

  12. Tecnicos won all the matches…

Tozcano worked instead of Lizmark Jr. Tecnicos won the first fall when… Hijo de Lizmark ran in to attack Blue Panther… security took him away for him to be interviewed by the radio guys and the second fall ended about at the same time as the interview. Mistico blew a dive but his team won anyways. They pushed Atlantis vs Panther again.

Black Warrior said he couldn’t feel his legs after Shocker triple powerbombed him…

Dr Wagner Jr no showed… let the rumors for “he’s working at Peña’s memorial” begin.

  13. I guess CMLL’s preview of “what side is Wagner on?!?!” was more on the nose they knew.

  14. Chui, when you say the feed is breaking up on you, I assume you mean internet feed. I thought you would listen to an over-the-air Grupo W affiliate in Torreon.

So Wagner no-showing should send the rumor mill spinning with speculation that he’ll be a surprise at the Pena Memorial.

  15. I ignore if there’s a Grupo W affiliate over here… I don’t really have access to a radio to check it out… well, I guess I should buy one of those fake ipod radios just to try to get that.

Show sounds pretty unispired, I’m surprised they have Volador Jr under Sombra in the card, I should had noticed earlier but I was not much into this show. It was said to have drawn less than 50% so Lizmark face is not that much of a draw (even if they said that he was injured and not showing, most people wouldn’t find out till it was too late)

  16. Depending on who promotes the LA Park vs. Santo mask match, I think CMLL would rent ArMex on a weekend just to make money on rent and concessions. And if LA Park really is selling his mask, he should drop it to Wagner or Ultimo Guerrero before fucking Santo. The fued is a little stale, and needs to be built up on indies, mags, and newspapers again.
