AAA #616

taped 02/16, aired 03/17 in the US, recapped a half a year later.

I had some time, so I’m making some progress in clearing off my AAA backlog. This one of a few recaps which should turn up this week today and maybe tomorrow – they’re pretty bare bones, but the time of random openers is forever preserved.

This is one of the shows I had sitting around on my TiVo for so long, it’s showing it’s age even in slow motion AAA. It was strike how each match had something that’s either mostly or completely irrelevant by now

1) Diabolica/Martha feud
2) + 3) tag team tournament
4) appearances by Brazo de Plata Jr. and Tinieblas Jr.
5) Super Porky vs Scorpio Jr. feud (which just faded out)
6) Black Bufalo (which was meant to be that way) and Nicho

This is pre-Mesias’s return, which explains some of it, but I think there was also a lot of stuff which was plain not good (large portions of the women’s trios stick out) and they’ve just been weeded out. I’ve watched this week of AAA in between watching this show and writing up this post, so I know there’s plenty of things which still annoy me about AAA, but it’s better than it was earlier this year for fine.

Black Bufalo was fun enough for one appearance. I have more questions about how Nicho would’ve worked long term here.

  1. I haven’t seen a second Bam Bam with my eyes, but it seems like there’s at least two of them because the name shows up on a lot of non-CMLL shows where minis aren’t booked. There’s no way a CMLL guy would be on the ACM show.
