08/25: Mexico results, lineups, CAN52

CMLL (FRI) 08/24 Arena Mexico [Galeno del Mal @ box y lucha, ESTO,
1) Starman & Trueno b Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Euforia, Loco Max, Nosferatu b Leono, Neutron, Valiente
3) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b La Mascara, Sagrado, Sombra
4) Blue Panther, Marco Corelone, Rey Bucanero b Damian 666, Mr. Aguila, Terrible
5) Atlantis, Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero b Texano Jr., Villano III, Villano V
6) Hijo del Perro Aguayo b Lizmark Jr.

Attendance was said to be down, with rain and the start of the school year brought up as reasons.

Blue Panther walked out during the main event, distracted Lizmark Jr. Perro had the chance to low blow him, but instead ended up pinning Lizmark clean. Ultimo Guerrero ran out after the match, and a four way brawl ended the show.

After this draw and that finish, I’m thinking Lizmark/Perro might end up as the final of the Anniversary show, but only as the ultimate result of some sort of larger match. They’re teasing Ultimo/Lizmark Jr. vs Perro/Panther here. There’s a thread on el martiente saying Reforma is now saying it’ll be a cage match.

Panther wasn’t specficlly teased as a new Perros del Mal member here, but I guess it could go that direction.

Some of the show reports I wsa reading said Atlantis and Villano V were ripping masks in their match, but CMLL.com says it was UG vs Villano V. (The difference is UG around for the Annivesary, I’m sure.) Atlantis won the match clean with the Atlantida.

Panther won his match with a fujiwara on Terrible, who was favoring his arm after. Triad of Terror beat 2/3rds of the new trios champs – seems like either them or the New Infernales would make sense as the next contenders. Opener was said to be bad.

  1. Wow, you’re influential, cubs! I was just reading a post on the Martinete forums where someone quoted you about Tony Rivera!

  2. Was there any “Internet is killing lucha” rant after that?

BTW, Reforma is saying that “Rumors” say it’s gonna be a cage match, and… during Ultimo’s skit, he said that a press conference will be held Thursday… would they just say “we have no idea what is going to be there”?

  3. SuperLuchas has Purpura/Emilio booked opposite each other again next week. I gotta think this is just a mid-card feud that goes nowhere unless Emilio owes the Garza family a favor and is going to lose his hair, then retire for a while.

In a strange way I think it’d be hilarious if the match did take place (mask vs hair that is) because the ByL forum would go nuts talking about how predictable the result would be… because none of those old matches with Atlantis and Lizmark defending their masks vs The Animals were predictable at all!

  4. He posted on another board that the following aired:

    Arena Coliseo:
    2) Caligula, Hooligan, Mr. Mexico b Metalico, Sombra de Plata, Tigre Blanco

    Arena Mexico:
    3) Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto b La Mascara, Sagrado, Sombra
    4) Blue Panther, Marco Corelone, Rey Bucanero b Damian 666, Mr. Aguila, Terrible
    5) Atlantis, Olimpico, Ultimo Guerrero b Texano Jr., Villano III, Villano V
    6) Hijo del Perro Aguayo b Lizmark Jr.

  5. Yep, that aired, although they had 4) and then 3) and with them not announcing them on the intro, was a nice surprise, well, considering that it could have been just the top 2 + random ladies match.

  6. It was just 15 minutes or so over the usual 2 hours, sort of proves that CMLL could be delivering 5 match shows consistently if they really wanted.

OT: Cubs, why don’t you just ban comments on that post which always gets the bots on? Or is that post a fishnet for bots?
