AAA #637 08/11

AAA #637, taped 07/15, aired 08/11

I decided to skip ahead, again. I wouldn’t mind catching up part of this week, but it sure doesn’t seem like it’ll happen (though I might be able to dip into my DVDs again. We’ll see.)

Like the GdR singles matches this weekend, I was left wanting more out of the parajes incredibles match. I had some hope for great, and probably did not appreciate good as much as I could’ve. I’m interested in seeing what we get for the mask match next weekend.

Street fight was the exact ridiculous match I thought it would be. You think they’ll be doing a Fuerza/Juvi hair/mask match down the road? I can’t see Fuerza not getting his win back somewhere, and it’d allow them to continue not doing Octagon/Fuerza.

What I got out of the main event is AAA knew they had nothing in the Animal, knew it before he stepped thru the entrance, just based on the way he was the least important man in the match. (Less so then Black Pearl, who appeared to book himself into the match.) The little we saw of the Animal, he came off as the bankrupt man’s Perro Aguayo, but even that’s been kind. He couldn’t work and he didn’t look good, and AAA didn’t seem to be expecting more, so – why was he out there? All I can figure is multiple plans for a mystery guy must have fallen thru, and the Animal was just their reserve plan.

I have no idea how/why they expect other people to care about their next mystery man – say, like the one coming up in two tapings – when they have this sort of track record for them.

  1. Word is that Animal was Toro Irisson, who is an old Parka friend, so I guess they put him so that Konnan could wash his hands and say “not my fault, Parka put him there” or something.
