07/26: AAA to NOAH, Monterrey

AAA/the Animal

Did we ever get an explanation about “the Animal”? I think because there was confusion over who he was and distraction from trying to figure out the 8 other things that happened from scattered reports, we didn’t spend much time discussing this “surprise.”

Hyped surprises always take on lives of their own. It’s somewhat unfair to the promotion – they didn’t say Black Warrior was going to be there, so they shouldn’t be blamed when Warrior doesn’t show up – but then it’s not like this doesn’t happen every time and so promotions should be well aware of what they’re getting into.

I think the Animal was even a disappointment beyond that. He wasn’t bad because he wasn’t Warrior, he was bad because he was some random stiff in a wacky outfit, who it seems we’ll never again (and I’m fine with that.) What the heck happened there? If it was a last minute replacement, then why did they have the suit? If they were planning The Animal all along, why? It’s all so strange.

CMLL says both Perro Aguayo Jr. and Lizmark Jr. will return next Friday. AULL kinda gave this way a week ago by listing both on their card that Saturday.

Noti Triple A says Oriental, Histeria, Antifaz and Laredo Kid will be heading to Japan for NOAH. They start with the promotion on 08/19 (though they’ll leave a couple days sooner.) No return date is announced, but I’d presume they’d stick around till the AAA/NOAH show in September.

You can also see photos of Cibernetico assuatling Annoying Wacky Entertainment Reporter at that site. Surely an angle, but I actually prefer to pretend it’s real, just for the thought of Cibernetico playing “got your nose!” in the middle of an argument.

  1. Blogger guy seems to be taking over the AAA page duties, he says (s)he’ll have the Madero pics up a few hours after it takes place!!

The Animal thing is most disappointing not because himself, but because the AAA office letting it happening, I would have put Abismo Negro there, and run a storyline of “heck, Konnan is running the show now and he faced the tecnicos to be beaten around by placing Abismo Negro in their team!!!” Or something… whatever was better than Toro Irison.

Worse yet, they put the worst match possible, after years using the “rudos jump on tecnicos”, they go for a slow paced match to let the crowd think about how bad Animal was…

  2. But, hasn’t AAA always kinda done this? I remember when I first got Gala, a AAA show with a main event featuring Magnate. He had a big elaborrate ring entrance and a big post match promo. And he was never seen again. Someone obviously thought this was a great idea to get the gear and film the vignette, etc, but he was never seen again. I figure Animal is the same way.

  3. Magnate was fake Gronda minus body paint.

AAA has never beeen shy about this type of thing. People… Rey De Reyes 2001. Nuff said.

  4. Maybe Electro Shock would not have been such a bad surprise after all. At least he was a main event star who fans would’ve recognized, and probably even popped for.

Pena had an obsession with birthdays, surprises, and the supernatural. But he’s not around anymore, so the surprises should stop for the time being.

I was just thinking about Magnate the other day after watching an old Puebla taping. That could’ve been a great gimmick in Mexico. A Mexican version of The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase.

  5. So I see he has pics of Juvi on Sabrina’s show. Serisouly, How big are those air bags on her cheast? It’s a wonder she can breathe.

THe Cibernetico stuff has to be a fake.

  6. According to herself “not big enough”… hehehe, I don’t watch La Oreja, but most of that stuff is fake anyways.

  7. Ah man I use to watch La Oreja all the time. It’s almost as addicative as Access Hollywood. Too bad it’s not on in the states anymore.
