CMLL CAN52 GdR #86

taped 07/01, aired 07/07

I’ll save what thoughts I have for the recap.

In case anyone cares: I have all the catchup recaps done, except for this weekends AAA. I just haven’t figured out how to post them yet. Also, if you’re the type who likes to subscribe to videos I put up, they’re all just up on Daily Motion (because they give you 15 minutes, and these matches tend to be 11-13), so that may be the site you want. Everything I post there, I post here, so I don’t know if it’s worth the effort.

  1. Oh man… I got a feeling this match ain’t gonna go over with you Cubs.:(

It wasn’t the blowaway mini’s trios I was expecting (perhaps next week w/ better tecnicos) but I enjoyed the match when it picked up at the end.

Bam Bam – Really only got involved at the end of the third fall but what he did was spectacular. I don’t know how he was standing for the final moments of the match after nearly crashing on his corkscrew dive.:/ The Silver King plancha into a frankensteiner was NUTS! He must be pissed he isn’t 2 or 3 inches taller and being pushed as a segunda wrestler against Virus.

Mini Fantasy – Looked decent enough in his first TV appearence. Some nice acrobatic spots although nothing that would make me go “I wish he was on TV more often”.

Shockercito – I can’t believe I can even say the following… he’s looked better in his other appearences. He was big time off in this match and you could say it’s b/c he is so small and the rudos are so big but he looked fine against these same rudos last time. The end of the second fall botch was pretty embarassing and he didn’t cover too well. A guy his size should not be pinning a guy twice his size with a power move.

Pequeno FdT – They continue to be the new stars of the mini’s division. Pequeno Halloween in particular is awesome. He takes such great bumps. I really hope the upcoming match is him vs Bam Bam.

For me, watching the CMLL mini’s can be funner than watching the AAA mini’s b/c in AAA it’s all about the small tecnicos against the big rudos. The CMLL division is more about smaller guys just having good matches where they are all equals and can one-up each other (i.e. Mini Fantasy being Pequeno Halloween’s base). It leads to more creativity and makes the matches less of a one-man show as most AAA mini’s matches tend to be (i.e. Mascarita Sagrada 2000).

Hopefully these guys get another shot to win Cubs over next week and if they do I fully expect Ultimo Dragoncito/Pequeno Olimpico to be a huge step up from Shockercito and Mini Fantasy.

Now if the mini’s Torneo airs next week… wow… two mini’s matches in one week… I don’t think that has EVER happened on CMLL TV.

  2. For those who have Facebook accounts, I opened a group dedicates to “Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre”. Hope you enjoy it!
