By far, the weirdest part of the Father’s Day Unspectacular is how 0.0000000000% effort was used to build up Mistico/Negro vs Averno/Mephisto. No teases of this match, no matchups between these teams. They just had Mistico mention it passing a couple times during this show, and were (overly) confident that would be sufficient. As I saw watching the next week’s taping, that didn’t quite work.
Misterioso took Mr. Aguila’s spot in the main event – soon enough that Mr. Aguila wasn’t mentioned anywhere on this program (not always the case with these subs) but with the match being laid out the same as if Mistierioso was the guys who faced Mistico in the Leyenda de Plata final and they were just finishing off a feud. Misterioso got the pin in the first fall, took La Mistica in the final fall. It was more than Misterioso usually gets.
Otherwise, what we’ve got here is two matches for the sake of being matches.
