US: 08/04

One would think they would make the TripleMania challenges here…but 9 days before the show, we’ll surely know the lineup before this taping takes place.

Still no Abismo. Maybe I’m assuming too much, but Head Hunter I seems like a replacment in that spot.

Kinda seems like there ought to be a Atomicos rematch at TripleMania, though I have no particular interest in it.

Who’s Yuriko? The magazine lists his team as Exoticos, which applies to the captian, but Nygma’s the Riddler and Jessy is one of the remaining Kumbia Kids.

In the interest of openness, Super Luchas just lists “Chiva”, so it could be Chiva II. I’m just making a gigantic leap of faith.

Announced Future Tapings

  1. I guess Meltzer reads thecubsfan.com Today, I noticed WON.com had info about Rey Jr. on Papaya on Canal 52. I know I didn’t tell him about it, and it’s not exactly being publicized all over the place, so he must’ve got it from here.

Tonight on Coliseo MTY they had new graphics before each fall. Using the same exact technology that Canal 52 uses to superimpose Ke-Monito on the screen before each fall, Multimedios shows a round card girl showing the fall, and her assets too. This program is really making improvements compared to what it used to be.

  2. Henrik will be happy to know it’s the CMLL Explosivo. He works for CMLL 4 years, get no TV time. First match in AAA = on TV.:)

Really strong lineup. I assume some guys (i.e. not the MexPowers) will be toning down what they do so they don’t get hurt before Triplemania.

VERY interested to see where they go with this Alfa/Apache angle.

I’ve been on a Konnan bashing streak recently so I have to interrupt that to praise him. I thought for sure with him being in charge, guys like Alebrije, Polvo, Pimpinela, Chivas, Diabolicos, etc. would be thrown to the curb. He’s proven me wrong and has kept the variety alive in AAA which is a big part of why they are successful and so much fun to watch. Kudos to Konnan.

  3. I’m also interested to see where they go with the evil clowns. I’m expecting them to pick on fans week after week, and make kids cry, until Los Payasos do a run-in to save kids from the evil clowns.

I think Konnan and AAA could do alot this year. AAA was with Televisa at the toy convention in New York City during the week. They’re attending some more conventions this summer, in order to expand operations. As I’ve said to an annoying degree, the only thing that hurts them is that they don’t own their own footage, which kills the potential for DVD’s and even PPV’s, without Televisa’s approval.

  4. CMLL and AAA couldn’t care less about potential DVD and PPVs, there’s no money there. Only reason CMLL has the PPVs is to have an excuse not to air the shows for free and try to make a bigger gate.

  5. The lighting for this show is pretty awful. Reminds me of the scummy AAA TV tapings from Juarez in 98/99.

  6. Post-match Space Flying Tiger Drop! AWESOME!!! Super Fly is going to AMAZE the Japanese audience in September.

  7. Can you imagine how great(er) AAA TV would be if they devoted a 5 minute segment each week to showing Apache training guys?

    I love the Alfa angle…

  8. Nice!

I hope there is a Mushiking Terry & Fuerza Aerea vs Mushiking Joker, Super Calo & Gran Apache match on the show.

  9. Damnit, I thought they’d announce the Triplemania lineup! Sounds like they’re doing a 6 sided cage match though.

7/16 in Leon is first post-Triplemania taping. The last taping they had the day after a big show was also in Leon if I remember right and it was one of my favorite shows of the year so far.

  10. The lighting will continue to be an issue until AAA finds a place to call home. At that point, they can set up some lights and make the place look better. One problem with some AAA tapings is that the use what I call “bodega orange” or a rust colored carpet at ringside. That color has horrible reflections on the wrestlers and just kills the tapings. Minatitlan is a great example.

  11. LMAO Extreme Tiger with a 450 splash to the floor almost completely missing his opponent.

Then Crazzy Boy/Joe Lider blow a double hiptoss.

  12. Sunday Coliseo lineup finally known via Box y Lucha:

“HEAVY METAL, ALEX KOSLOV Y VOLADOR VS. ATLANTIS, OLÍMPICO Y SANGRE AZTECA
FELINO, LA MÁSCARA Y VALIENTE VS. SATÁNICO, NOSFERATU Y EUFORIA
TSUKY, PEQUEÑO SHOCKER Y BAM BAM VS. PEQUEÑO HALLOWEEN, PEQUEÑO DAMIÁN 666 Y MR. AGUILITA
TRUENO Y ASTRO BOY VS. ZAYCO Y CARROÑA”

Obviously this means they are adding a singles main event. Ovaciones mentions Universo is the Heavyweight Champion for some reason in today’s update so maybe they are setting up Dos Jr. or Corleone for a title shot?

More importantly… this means *A SECOND WEEK IN A ROW* where the mini’s have a chance of making TV!!!:D Too lazy to check tonight’s Coliseo lineup but is this a revancha?

Also, perhaps the Gran Alternativa is spoiled? Valiente/Euforia are matched up all week in higher than normal matches…

  13. If Mexican Powers don’t hurt themselves, they’re going to hurt someone else. We should keep track of how many weeks in a row a doctor has to come to ringside during their TV matches. Then I see some guy in the front row flaunting his Mexican Powers t-shirt for the cameras.

I thought today’s AAA on Galavision Mexico looked ok. But the lighting on Gala/US looked horrible. Which TV were you referring to Robert when pointing out that AAA’s lighting looked like the old 1998 stuff. I sure thought Gala/US did.

Chui, I think AAA and CMLL care about DVD and PPV. They just don’t know how to pursue it, and don’t trust people to do it for them, so they go nowhere as always.

  14. What did you think of Minatitlan, Veracruz a few weeks ago? I thought that was very 1998ish on production.
