AAA #618

taped 03/03/07, aired 03/31/07

Let’s see if I can distract you with a dated AAA recap. This one was two shows before Rey de Reyes (which is in the unwatched pile – as is this week’s FSE, I know), so the last tag team tournament matches before the four way (still bored with them), Fuerza/Juvi stuff which is no further four months later, and Hijo de Tirantes screwing Abismo in what I guess was the culmination of that feud, though they didn’t make much of it.

Black Magic did nothing of note in his surprise appearance – he didn’t even strike me as so bad that you can’t bring him back, but there didn’t seem to be much special reason to do so either. Main event finish annoyed me, but that’s because they’re so not interested in finishes.

I don’t think I got donuts. There’s always tomorrow.

  1. Super Fly tried to debut his new bump where he takes a 360 bump off a backdrop to the floor. He let go of the ropes too early and hurt himself here. He managed to get it right on a future taping though and it looks pretty badass. Another spot much like his dives to nowhere that will guarantee he won’t be wrestling past 25.

  2. 20, I think. Venum lasted ’94 – ’99 so I’m hoping Super Fly has an equally good 5 years.

  3. ArMex results are up in el Martinete via Alvin, don’t remember the opening, tecnicas ladies, rudos @ especial, Villanos won once again but were heavily booed through the match and perros won the main event although no ran in was mentioned… just what one would expect from a filler show in the middle of a filler month.

Apparently Panther and Liz are feuding.

  4. I just want to see what they do next week with the Gran Alternativa being in the semi-main event slot. Usually they do a singles main event since the entire night will be tag matches otherwise. Blue Panther vs Lizmark Jr.? God help us! Villano III vs Ultimo Guerrero? God help us! Maybe Villano III vs Atlantis…

  5. Ultimo Guerrero is supposed to be in the GA. BTW, something I forgot to mention is that Texano Jr subbed for Toscano, I guess he’s either injured, or they are going to find a way to have TJr go bald and bail out of this crap.
