Villanos won their match again in straight falls, this time with a Villano III low blow on Ultimo Guerrero that the referees missed. Guerreros demand a rematch.

La Sombra had a dive gone wrong and was carried out of his match. ESTO says it was a shoulder injury.

  1. I just learned from superboletos.com that Mistico will be in Solidaridad June 30 in Monterrey. The event has been named “Tarde Mistica” and tickets are already under sale. Lineups hasn’t been revealed yet.

  2. Luchas 2000 has Gran Alternativa partially on it’s cover, Sombra, Nosferatu & Stuka Jr are on it, as well as Valiente, Supernova, Super Comando, Mascara Purpura and Flash… only 8, no unmasked guys… I wonder if they’ll use 2 legs this time?

GdR on FSE aired the expected matches, the girl is Perrillo’s fiance. TVC has IWRG from Naucalpan, I don’t know if AYM Sports still has it.

  3. Hmmm… I just realized if Rey Bucanero is supposed to face either Atlantis, Ultimo or Toscano next week, how can all three of them be booked in the semi-main event as well? More GENIUS booking for Panico and friends!

If those 8 guys are the only entrants in the Gran Alternativa, this is the first year without a single stiff in the entire group. I’d think it would be the only leg since I can’t think of 8 other deserving participants. The real test would be who do you team them with? A little fantasy booking if you will…

    Sombra AND… Negro Casas
    Euforia AND… Virus
Super Nova AND… Dos Caras Jr.
    Flash AND… Heavy Metal
    Stuka Jr. AND… Blue Panther
    Super Comando AND… Misterioso II
    Valiente AND… Rey Bucanero
    Mascara Purpura AND… Felino

Keep in mind that’s not the teams I *want*, it’s the teams I think will end up being put together.

Tournament seems to be wide open this year aside from Super Comando and Flash having zero chance. I could actually see Super Nova going really far just based on his family connections although he has been good on TV lately.

I am *stunned* Mictlan isn’t in the tournament. Wouldn’t be surprised if someone got “injured” allowing him to be entered.

  4. Isn’t Bucky’s show is next month, not next week?

Despite being 40+ year old, Virus has not never been established star so I don’t see them putting him at that spot, if anything, Virus, Mictlan, Leono, Maximo, Texano, Nosferatu… maybe even Tony “hitman” Rivera might be considered for a second leg… although maybe some of them are already considered higher on the card for being in the tourney.

  5. Rey show is JULY 22. Maybe they’re going to run one extra Arena Mexico show a month?

  6. When is this anyway – the week after next?

Those 8 guys are fine – compared to the previous 2 years it’s like night and day.

I’d say they could easily stretch it to 16 if they used undercarders who aren’t all that new, but it’s always been an 8 team tournament and i can’t see that changing. They could have Neutron, Sombra De Plata, Tigre Metalico (he’s back!), Molotov, Danger, Artillero , Euforia, Hooligan, Astro Boy etc.

F*ck trying to guess what CMLL will do, i’ll go with total fantasy :D

    Sombra AND… Dr Wagner
    Nosferatu AND… Virus
    Super Nova AND… Volador
    Flash AND… Shocker
    Stuka Jr. AND… Dos Caras
    Super Comando AND… Ultimo Guerrero
    Valiente AND… Blue Panther
    Mascara Purpura AND… Rey Bucanero

As unlikely as i think a 16 man tournament is, it really does need more rudos!

And changing topic, surely we’ll get 4 matches on CMLL TV now that this cincos magnificos crap is done?! a bit of a rhetorical question i suppose because of course CML will be able to find a way to waste half an hour on equally pointless shit, but we can hope :(

  7. Neutron, Sombra De Plata, Tigre Metalico (he’s back!), Molotov, Danger, Artillero , Euforia, Hooligan, Astro Boy
    “”””””””””””””””””

Those guys would make more sense and are more akin to the ones in the tourney, but it makes me wonder if CMLL has given up on the ones I mentioned or thin they’re “there” in the stardom.

Don’t worry about CMLL, they’ll have lots of replays of the guys announcing perrillo winning and thanking the fans for making it possible (better thank the fact that the show bombed and no one cared about it).

  8. What about ~LEONO! I guess he’s already working semi-mains so he doesn’t need to win any tournament. I just watched his trios match from the 3/30 show and he was so awful…

    Danger is FIRED!

Euforia is on the cover of Luchas 2000, not Nosferatu, so he’s in.

I’m with Chui… we’re gonna get a bunch of segments with Perrito/Aguila’s teammates thanking them for making the win possible.

  9. >Don’t worry about CMLL,
    >they’ll have lots of replays
    >of the guys announcing
    >perrillo winning and thanking
    >the fans for making it
    >possible

    WINNER!

  10. So it looks like

La Sombra, Mascara Purpura, Maximo vs Ephesto, Olimpico, Sangre Azteca
Damian 666, Halloween, Villano V vs Atlantis, Tozcano, Ultimo Guerrero
Blue Panther, Mistico, Negro Casas vs Hector Garza, Mr. Aguila, Terrible

  11. Sombra reminds me so much of Oro with the look and the way he moves. It’s scary…

  12. I hope they air the same matches on the card next week as it would be a shame to miss Volador/Sagrado V The triad of terror.

And Virus/Valiente better air on GdR!

  13. No way they’ll ever squeeze in 4 matches if they keep doing these 3 commercial breaks per first match. We’ve seen 5 minutes of wrestling and it’s 6:36pm.

  14. #1 – Sombra is no Super Fly.
#2 – Sombra needs to never use that dive again b/c even if he would have cleared the ropes, it looks ugly the way he set up for it.
#3 – Sombra crashing and burning reminded me way too much of Sagrado in his second match. I *really* hope this doesn’t kill his push.

Momentos was AWESOME!!! I’m gonna specially request a clip of that. Fantasy’s two spots were cool and Tzuki’s somersault into an armdrag was AMAZING! TZUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKI! Plus I’ve wanted to put the Sombra dive on YouTube and do another ‘which dive is better contest’ between that and Laredo Kid’s dive from the 4/1 taping.

  15. So I’m finally watching this for the first time. Sombra is amazing and I still really like Sangre Azteca. Sombra is no Laredo Kid though.

Do they have enough Text messaging commercials though? Is that a big thing in mexico now?

  16. I thought his cartwheel was pretty tidy but he just misjudged the distance – he should have took off from much nearer the ropes. When he realised he had so much distance to cover to clear the ropes he should have just improvised and done a fake-out. But I hope he uses it again :)

As soon as i saw that Tzuki clip i knew you were going to rave about it :D

And whats the script with Purpura? – probably his biggest ever match and he never even got in one single dive – they must be ordered to hold back or something because the natural thing to do in that situation would be to go that bit further to make a good impression.

  17. Sombra jumped too far from the ropes… I don’t think it was a problem of clearing it upwards.

At least they’re running father’s day prommos and not endless repeats of 5 Magnificos.

  18. I think it went something like this…

Tony Salazar: “Purpura, if you do anything to upstage Sombra, we’ll book you against Zayco next week.” :)

Once again… Tzuki is AWESOME! He invents something new every time he is on TV.

  19. I think it went something like this…

Tony Salazar: “Purpura, if you do anything to upstage Sombra, we’ll book you against Zayco next week.” :)
    “””””””””””””””

But he hit the SSP to score a fall while Sombra was out of the ring. I think last week he also scored the pin at the end of the match. In Mexico, it is more important to score the match than doing stuff, for instance, look at Perro.

  20. When did the Villanos turn into Los Headhunters without the skill? Villano 3 is just embarassing to look at. Your right Rob about Villanos XXL. They should just bring in Navarro and Solar to show these guys how to really work.

  21. The promo on TV just said the Bucanero show is on *July 20th*. So this is what it’s like to report news from Mexico, cubs.

  22. Rey Bucanero just announced on screen that his anniversary show would be July 20th, that would be the normal Friday show.

  23. It used to be Tzuki but it isn’t any more. When I get the new DVD’s of the weekend shows I’ll be able to identify who it is. I’m very curious myself.

  24. When did they change Blue Panther’s music? La Puerta Negra was awesome for him.

For an injured man, Mistico still fly’s around like a mad man. Hector Garza’s pose still rules it.

  25. Not sure what match Ovaciones was watching, but the one I saw on TV was pretty fun. Mistico looked normal, showing no signs of being injured.

  26. Perros look like NWO circa 1998. Way too many members. Lizmark just needs to drop his mask and go away.

The hell? Backstage promos? Standoffs? When did CMLL turn into WCW?

Was that Arturo Rivera duing commentary?

  27. When they turned into AAA.

    Yep, it was AR.

I think Mistico wasn’t using he’s left arm in the pre-match posing.

  28. Just watched Multimedios Lucha from Coliseo Monterrey.

New graphics. Backstage promos. Petty camera angles. That’s the benefit of having young Roberto involved instead of people who don’t care about Lucha.

  29. My picks…

    Sombra – Wagner
Super Nova – Dos Caras Jr Valiente – Volador
    Flash – Felino
    Super Comando – Olimpico
    Euphoria – Lizkmark Jr
    Mascara Purpura – Sagrado
    Stuka Jr – Blue Panther

Problem with Euphoria is that he is supposed to have heat with Guerreros, I choose to put only masked guys. In this scenario, Sombra wins for sure.

  30. I think the Monterrey AAA Lucha was 90 minutes. It went off at exactly 12 midnight. I know Chui has seen the show interrupted for local Torreon baseball games. Let us know what happened last night Chui. Barrio Boyz looked good against El Angel and Billy Boy. But the local wrestlers just bite.

  31. I think they had 4 matches, didn’t they? Ladies/Minis, Barrios, masks match + main event. Something happened with Orus/Ramses since they looked fine before Elizondo took over…

  32. I am so jealous of you guys that got to see the 4 way mask match with the mummys.:(

  33. Alexis says…

    Diana is bald.

Mistico/Negro still the champs after Mistico used the Casita and Negro used the Mistica!

  34. Didn’t he say that Stuka Jr lost to La Flecha or that Lesnar was confirmed to work for CMLL or that…

  35. Yes, it was four matches on Multimedios Lucha last night. Main event did not come on until about 11:40 including the long backstage promos with both teams “running into each other” backstage like you see on regular AAA and plenty of on American TV.

  36. I know there are those who want to see the Coliseo Monterrey Lucha. With two new Spanish networks soon starting up in the US, I’m confident that Multimedios will be supply programming to one of them. Sadly, the production of their Lucha pales in comparison to other shows, but young Roberto seems to be contributing in a positive way, so this could change things.

  37. The problem is, that besides the production values, the product itself is kind of weak. It was at its best moment when they left, they should try to put a stronger lineup and make them tour, say Tampico in the morning, MTY night (on Sundays) and the same guys on Nvo Laredo the next day.

Whatever happened to Medico? He looked good working with the mummies…

  38. The Nuevo Laredo promoter seems to pick up a good percentage of the guys who work Coliseo MTY. And sometimes we hear about shows in Reynosa and Matamoros with guys who just worked Coli MTY.

But I agree that the product lacks something. To me, the locals that they use kill the show. So do the camera angles and poor lighting. The prelims are not as dark b/c it’s still light outside when they begin taping. This week, at least they had graphics for the guys, and the camera work a little better.

Televisa will provide us with a point of reference when they tape at Coliseo, and we all can see what a few extra lights can do for production.

Really, they should’ve kept Sicodelico around as one of the top heavyweight locals because he looks like a star and does not cost an airline ticket. They also should maintain relations with the PCW group in Dallas just to add flavor. Those undercard guys in Monterrey are just so lame.
