06/15: Villano IV’s injury, Mexico preview, Puebla

Villanos are in Ovaciones, but it’s ESTO who finally gets word on Villano IV’s injury. He’s hoping to be back in less than six months. They’ve changed the card, Villano III replacing Halloween (who could be hurt again – or he could just be getting the night off.)

Villano IV’s injury would seem to derail whatever program they had in mind here. Honestly, they had to bring in the Villanos to lose their masks to the Guerreros, because I don’t understand why you’d give them spots on the card for any other reason right now. (CMLL does do stuff for random reasons, so I may just not understand.) They could still do a singles match with someone vs V, but a tag feud with Villano’s III hair on the line won’t work since he just lost it (and doesn’t have much to start with.) They could have the Villanos recruit a replacement member from CMLL, but that doesn’t seem like CMLL. I think this one might just drift off into the land of forgotten angles, but we’ll get a better read on it tonight.

CMLL (FRI) 06/15 Arena Mexico
1) Bam Bam & Mini Fantasy vs Fire & Mini Mr. Aguila
2) Leono, Mictlan, Valiente vs Goto, Okumura, Virus

4) Damian 666, Villano III, Villano V vs Atlantis, Tozcano, Ultimo Guerrero
5) Blue Panther, Mistico, Negro Casas vs Hector Garza, Mr. Aguila, Terrible

General ESTO preview. Notimex’s preview went up Monday for whatever reason.

ESTO previews Sunday’s show.

CMLL (MON) 06/18 Arena Puebla [hugo999]
1) Blue Center, King Jaguar, Zigma vs Fuerza Chicana, Furia Chicana, Karissman
2) Black Terry, Kraken, Siki Osama Jr. vs Centella de Oro, Legionario, Tigre Rojo

4) Blue Panther, Marco Corelone, Sagrado vs Black Warrior, Sangre Azteca, Ultimo Guerrero
5) Damian 666, Halloween, Mr. Aguila vs Heavy Metal, Negro Casas, Volador JR. [MEX TRIOS]

Figure on champions retaining.

  1. This just in, for those who have not heard, former WWE Womens Champion and Manager in WWF/E and WCW Sherri Martel. who managed Jake Roberts in AAA, has passed away today at age 49. No other information was given except that she died at her mothers house in Alabama.

    Vaya con Dios Sherri Martel

  2. I still doubt CMLL asked the Villanos XXL to drop their hoods. It was just a random stupid decision that will lead nowhere, injury or not. At least with the injury we may get rid of them quicker. I know Villano III is hitting up any product that promises increased hair growth in an attempt to get one last big payoff.

  3. One guy at ByL board said that Atlantis vs Villano V would happen “sooner than you think”, which would mean today since I was thinking next week…

By the time we are around, next big show would be the cage match, with Perros supporting Villanos it could lead to a cage match, but Villano V losing that would seem sooooo obvious, I doubt they would try to put that on.

    Villanos XXL… hehe, great!!

  4. Unless Atlantis is dropping his mask to Ultimo Guerrero or Mistico down the road, that match seems dumb to me. Villano V, if he’s shopping his mask, needs to give it to a guy like Sangre Azteca to elevate him. It doesn’t have to be one-on-one, but maybe it somehow involves Atlantis costing Villano the match. A straight one-on-one match where Atlantis wins is stupid b/c Atlantis doesn’t need another mask.

CMLL is definitely due for another big show soon. It’s usually in mid-June…

  5. We are i mid-June now… well, some guys are saying that Atlantis vs VV would “kill” AAAMania which is dumb, Villanos XXL were never main eventers like III and as we speak, they are not main eventers even in house shows, let alone Arena Mexico, besides not needing it, it would be a step down for Atlantis, only thing left for him from Toreo would be Canek, possibly Wagner, but he was never at VIII’s level since the promotion closed.

Most guys would cry if Villano was to loose to Sangre Azteca or even Averno, but considering Villanos are third match arena Mexico material, I think that would be the right thing to do. I don’t know if a possible angle might be to have Villanos “injuring” Atlantis and set a Villano V vs Ultimo Guerrero…

  6. For those interested, next week’s cards are already up.

Not sure why I thought the 22nd was a Sunday. So I guess Arena Mex will have 6 matches but IT DOESN’T MATTER B/C THE SUNDAY COLISEO MINI’S MATCH IS AIRING! No ifs, ands or buts! IT WILL AIR!

  7. For those interested, next week’s cards are already up.

Tonight’s results are also up, Sombra nearly killed himself and got stretched out while missing his top turnbuckle moonsault, rudos won, Villanos won 2-0 again and tecnicos won by DQ after a run in.

  8. Sombra missing a move and getting stretchered is not good for his career. Remember what happened to Sagrado when he first got his mega-push…

CMLL.com has the new cards up. Very weird stuff. Valiente can work semi-main events with Black Warrior, Heavy Metal and Leono but is then working openers against Polvora and Vaquero?

  9. Sombra missing a move and getting stretchered is not good for his career. Remember what happened to Sagrado when he first got his mega-push…

I don’t… I mean, it was sagrado, who cares about tecnicos… Valiente also fell doing his dive in a show in Puebla, but he got OK from that… let’s see what happens with Sombra, I was never a big fan of him going to CMLL at the tender age of 16.

I wonder what a Villano mask would be worth. $50,000?

That’ll be around what Black Warrior supposedly got, but he had the plus of being pushed to the main events and being able to tour main eventing, so it was a better deal for him.

  10. If CMLL booked right, Villano would lose his mask to a guy like Misterioso or maybe Olympico.

To change the topic a little bit, I hear Abismo has been suspended for all the no shows. The guy is either on drugs, has personal problems or wants to get fired. Doesn’t he have heat with Konnan?
